Needs this one thing looking at, otherwise is good. Screen scaling is odd with big black borders on iPadOS 26 doesn’t fill screen fully, needs to be zoomed. **Developer response:** Hi n1ckal, Thank you for your updated review. App now does what I was hoping it would. ### 3/5 — Latest app version is useless *2020-08-11* Content is fine but version 6.0.6 now compresses all content into the area the size of an iPad mini in the centre of the screen. Which looks ridiculous on an iPad Pro. Not to mention being very difficult to read. Which means there’s no point in keeping a subscription any more. ### 1/5 — Seriously how can you not update this app? *2019-07-14* I just bought a new issue thinking, hey the app is old but at least I’ll be able to read the content after full screen, but no, you can’t and although I have an iPhone max I have to view the magazine on an iPhone 5 size...Shameful guys, this update wouldn’t cost much and should be your top priority, as I think things are going digital lol... ### 1/5 — Dreadful App *2019-05-12* This app is clearly an afterthought after Future Publishing have already grabbed your money. Tried, without success, to access my magazine subscription but constant objections to my password even though I know it is correct. So I can’t read any of purchases that I have bought. Been a subscriber for many years. Please resolve this issue. ### 2/5 — Couldn’t figure out how to navigate the trial issue *2018-04-24* All I ever saw was the front cover. By tapping on that, a screen comes up with instructions saying to click the front and back arrows to navigate—but there aren’t any when the issue is full screen—and swiping to turn does nothing. Good magazine, but a poorly implemented app, it seems. ### 1/5 — Good magazine content, but really bad digital reader *2017-12-17* The magazine content is good, but unfortunately it is really let down by the app for reading digitally. I already subscribe to the print format and added a digital subscription to be able to quickly find old articles etc. But a digital magazine that you can’t search is madness. As others have commented other basics for a digital magazine are also missing, such as returning to the page you were on before etc. ### 1/5 — No customer service *2017-12-09* Problems with this app include bookmarks not working and I can’t turn the pages to read the magazine. Only way I can read the magazine is to delete the app and reload both app and current magazine each time. These may be things that could be rectified if I could get help from customer support. Despite several emails they have not responded at all. Bad customer support will lose customers. They have lost mine. ### 1/5 — Problems with iOS 11 *2017-10-23, version 4.9.4* The performance of this app with iPad mini 4 and iOS 11 is terrible. No response from the publishers so I’ll be cancelling my subscription. ### 2/5 — Awful app - the mag deserves better *2017-08-08* This must be the worst, most ill-conceived, cynically money-minded magazine app ever. Every time you return to the app, it opens at a page trying to get you to buy back issues. This would be simply annoying if you could just close it and return to reading the magazine (the content of which, incidentally, is good). But you can't. You have to find the issue you were reading, re-open it and then try to find the last page you were looking at. Every rucking time! For heaven's sake. Call yourselves a digital provider? This is either antediluvian or totally, nastily compromised by the commercial department. Whichever, it doesn't work. This may be a good Mac mag in print, but there are far better digital Mac mags available. Sort yourselves out. Bye bye. (I rate the content at three stars but the app experience at minus one star, which explains my overall rating.) ### 4/5 — Excellent but..... *2017-05-15* The magazine is very good and I have lost count of the number of "oh that's how you do that" moments but I would like the app version to arrive at the same time as the posted hard copy. It's a bit inconvenient that the mag always opens at the front page rather than where I left off last time but, as hinted at above, I have usually read the hard copy by the time it arrives in digital so I am only looking for specific pages by then. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Need to ‘Restore Purchases’ every time! *2025-07-06* The magazine content is good, helpful and relevant for UK readers…but the app is frustrating. I’ve been a digital subscriber for many years, but every time I want to download a new issue it asks for my payment details. I have to exit the payment dialogue box and search for the option to ‘Restore Purchases’. Every. Single. Month. Once I have selected the restore purchases option, the latest issue is available to download in accordance with my annual subscription. Cant download issues even after subscribing, thankfully it was a trial which was easily cancelled. And even though I have a subscription it still tries to charge me for each issue. Then they updated it. Now on iPad Pro the magazine is much smaller than the screen and can’t be enlarged, the app frequently hangs and you’re left with a black rectangle in the middle of the screen obscuring the magazine you’re trying to read. No response from app support. Discussing refund with Apple. ### 1/5 — Latest Release *2020-06-10* You seem to have broken the app with the latest release. The content pages on my iPad Pro appear in a window over the front page. If you touch outside the windowed display the whole app locks up and you need to reload. I have tried reinstalling the app. All the magazines are the same. ### 1/5 — Total rubbish and really poor customer service *2019-11-20* I have just updated the app and now I can’t view any mags on my iPad Pro. I am going to cancel my subscription through iTunes as this is a total waste of money. The mags down load then the app crashes. I have written to the customer service and only had some crap generated response! It’s very distracting to have another layer underneath which detracts from the eye and makes the whole thing look very messy.
