### 4/5 — Great app and very useful

*2025-10-18, version 17.2*

Every thing is available that you should need for reference needs as a machinist to a point only thing it doesn’t have that I have to go elsewhere for is metric thread information.

### 4/5 — Useful

*2018-09-08, version 17.2*

I really like the app and use it often.

It would be really nice if you could add cycle times to the drilling section.

All sections

### 4/5 — Needs update

*2016-10-01, version 9.17.12*

Needs update crashes when adding decimal places to more than one place otherwise it works great

### 4/5 — No metric

*2013-10-31, version 9.17.12*

Good app but for $10 they should also include the metric calculations.

### 4/5 — Useful app

*2012-08-12, version 6.1*

I use this app a lot. The UI dose need work. To many taps to get to things. Screw size is just one scroll wheel which is inefficient almost useless. The worst part is when you open the app there is a splash screen . I debated giving it three stars just because of it. GET RID OF THE SPLASH SCREEN!

### 4/5 — Handy!!

*2012-08-07, version 6.1*

Very handy app. Beats digging out the machinist handbook. I would like to see more calculations such as being able to calculate coordinates for milling internal hexagons on the flats and/or across corners.

### 3/5 — Journeyman machinist

*2012-04-28, version 4.10.12*

Great little program, I use it because it's always in my pocket. I wish the developers would add a materials database with recommended speeds and feeds for hss and carbide.

### 4/5 — A Great Addition To My Tools

*2012-03-06, version 2.6.11*

One of the best machinist tools I have. Just as important to me as a good indicator. Could probably use small graphical interface enhancements, but that is nitpicking. Easily worth the $10!

### 4/5 — 3wire measurements

*2011-10-11, version 2.6.11*

3 wire measurements for threading would be an awesome addition :)

### 4/5 — Useful, well thought out.

*2011-02-17, version 2.6.11*

Nice app! Has a lot of useful info. I'd like to see a true position calculator. Overall very helpful though! Thanks!

### 4/5 — cah8861

*2011-02-06, version 1.21.11*

This is a good app. I can see if you normally run newer cnc operated machinery it could be very helpful. Unfortunately I run older manual equipment that doesn't even have DRO's on them and only some of the info from this app is useful to me. Maybe saves me a trip to look at a wall chart occasionally. I would reccomend if you run newer equipment. I would like to see them throw in the metric version instead of making you purchase another app, if I bought a book with this info in it, it would include metric also.

### 3/5 — No longer the Best of Its Class in the AppStore

*2011-01-24, version 0*

The new bolt circle calculator is STILL a joke. How about a little quality control in the updates?
Only 16 holes max? WTF?
Fix the directions.

ALL angles in a cartesian coordinate system start at 3 O'clock and rotate COUNTER-CLOCKWISE!
What the developer has done here is decidedly amateurish and non- standard.
It now only rates 3 stars.

### 4/5 — Sr. CNC Programmer

*2011-01-23, version 1.21.11*

The app has come a ways since I first purchased it. The BC and threading is a step in the right direction. Adding metric, Pipe threads straight and tapered both British and American standard, acme and stub acme would be a definite plus.

### 4/5 — 4 stars and growing

*2011-01-22, version 1.21.11*

I find myself grabbing this app daily. The new thread chart is a plus, keep the updates coming !!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Issue!

*2016-10-18, version 9.17.12*

Using new IOS 10. When right triangle solver is used to calculate. It will take the first known with a decimal point. However when you put the second number in with a decimal it closes the app???

### 1/5 — Lose the advertisement !

*2012-08-25, version 6.1*

Why should I have to go through up front advertisement on an ap that I paid for?! Not smart!

### 1/5 — Worst update yet...

*2012-08-03, version 6.1*

I will not pitch this to my customers any longer due to blatant distributor advertisement. Go back to a home screen that I will be happy to share.

### 1/5 — I don't like the paid advertising on the new update

*2012-07-28, version 6.1*

Not happy that I paid for this app and they are putting a paid advertisement from a distributor.

### 1/5 — Shop owner

*2011-05-03, version 2.6.11*

Waste of time. Backyard machinist use only! Any professional machinist worth his certificate shouldn't waste his time with this app. No gear calculations, no cam calculations, nothing. If this is what our trade is reduced to...

### 1/5 — not that great

*2011-03-14, version 2.6.11*

It has the basic stuff. But nothing for CNC or any advanced machining. I still have to break out the machinist handbook daily. All it does is simple math that your calculator can do. Waist on $10.00 I want money back....

### 1/5 — Needs thread calculator/chart

*2010-11-25, version 0*

I am very dissatisfied with this app. I have spent $9.99 on another app and I am very happy with it. If you're going to ask for this amount for an app it should have alot of useful features. There more useless features than good ones. I think it could use a thread caculator/chart. Something to give you major, minor, pitch dia.etc.
I also think for the money it could have a material data section.
Also it doesn't load every time.

### 1/5 — Are you kidding me? Not a good app at all. Real machinist understand what I mean.

*2010-08-14, version 0*

Drop ball...countersunk...tangent...not here.

### 2/5 — I wouldn't..

*2013-04-18, version 9.17.12*

I bought it and sorta regret spending $10 on this app. The best thing about this app is the bolt circle section. That's really all because my machinist handbook is the 11th edition and has nothing on bolt circles. There are some handy things but a machinist hand book would be the best way to go instead of this app.

### 2/5 — No metric

*2010-02-25, version 0*

I agree with the above review, £5.99 for a machinist app with very little metric support is pretty shocking. How about a G/M code reference page as well. Add these things + lower the price = 5 stars

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best machinist app out there!

*2022-06-16, version 17.2*

I’ve been using this app since the creation of it. I use it everyday and show it to all my customers. I’ve been selling carbide since 1988 and have covered the Bay Area and Central Valley in California for Mitsubishi Carbide cutting tools for the past 17-1/2 years. It’s very simple and user friendly. Years ago I used an app on my old palm pilot called “Machinist”. I wish these 2 would get together and create one together. “Machinist” was amazing and had a materials data base and would allow you to input the machine data such as rapids, horse power, etc.. so when calculating drilling cycle times it would allow input for distance between the holes. Keep up the great work and thanks for the app!!

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2014-12-26, version 9.17.12*

I am an application rep for a company that sells round tools and indexable. Works perfect!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-09-25, version 9.17.12*

They have fixed the issues from the last update. I will happily recommend this app to anyone.

### 5/5 — Cnc programmer

*2012-09-09, version 6.1*

Love this app! You should add a thread turning calculator for all threads (acme, round, exc) with min/max/pitch dia ref, internal and external. Also a ball mill scalop height calculator would be awesome. Great app!!!

### 5/5 — Cnc programmer

*2012-07-21, version 4.10.12*

Great app.
Putting in over wires and some heat treating would be nice. If you could make it more like a electric machinist guide I could throw some of the old versions out.

### 5/5 — AMAZING APP!!!!

*2012-05-23, version 4.10.12*

This guy really made a user friendly app with almost everything you could possibly think of having. GREAT WORK!

### 5/5 — Repair Guy

*2011-12-20, version 2.6.11*

I have used this App for over a year now and am still happy I spent the money.... I've looked at many others, but this one is my "Go To" app... Thanks Jim for putting it together... I have appreciated all the updates, but the one I keep hoping for is a Chord Calculation. Maybe someday... :-)

### 5/5 — This is a great app

*2011-08-20, version 2.6.11*

This app is at my finger tips daily and recommend this of any Machinist.p

### 5/5 — Buy this APP

*2011-02-13, version 2.6.11*

Really great app! Works very well after latest updates! Starts every time with no issues. Jim is very responsive to emails and great at customer service!
The one thing I was waiting on was the bolt circle calculator and he added that! Looking forward to future updates!
Be careful about showing to coworkers because they'll be asking for your iPhone all of the time to utilize this app.
I do use this app on almost a daily basis.

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2010-08-28, version 0*

This is a great app. And has the potential to be even greater.

One thing that would be really great to have on here would be a measurement over wires to measure unified threads, acme and stub acme threads.
