Unfortunately this is not the case. I would have to transfer back-and-forth to update logs. Also, there’s no filter other than frequency and mode for the cluster. I like the feature on the desktop where you can filter out between local and DX. I’m also disappointed that it doesn’t have a field for POTA. I don’t see myself using this app on my iPad, I will just use a paper log and then enter into my desktop when I get back. For me, it was a waste of $40. I highly recommend MacloggerDX, but don’t recommend HD because of it’s shortcomings. ### 1/5 — Not worth it. *2024-05-01* This app is useless without the Mac version. Very disappointed. Doesn’t know what the ICloud is? Can’t add new clusters for DX which is pretty much all it does. ### 2/5 — Wanting *2020-06-08* The Mac app is great, so I bought this under the assumption it would be similarly comprehensive and impressive. Instead the app feels like it misses the mark. The app hasn’t been updated in 4 years, and it really shows. Newer iPad models with wider screens will have black bars on either side of the app, and UI images are blurry. Additionally, though the Mac app is great for keyboard shortcuts, none exist for the iOS app. This feels like a missed opportunity, as quick HF QSOs often aren’t great times to be hunting around for buttons to press on an app when you’re juggling multiple bits of hardware like your radio. Log syncing is also clunky (the app uses AirDrop and email), and should really be much more seamless for the money this app costs. ### 5/5 — iOS7 App Crash update *2014-12-27* After the latest update and bug fix, the App loads properly and doesn't crash on startup. Program appears to be working now. Developer was fast to address the problem and provide a bug fix. Thanks. ### 5/5 — Great product for the HAM operator *2014-03-28* I’ve used Don’s MacLogger program on the Mac for over 10 years. Don is a super developer and keeps his apps up-to-date. He also provides great support through his Yahoo groups, usually answering questions within a day. He does frequent app updates and is continually adding features. I was thrilled to see the iPad version of his logging software. The iPad app is well designed, easy to use and is great for mobile or fixed base use. The database is completely compatible with the Mac OS version of the program and sync’s through iTunes app document sharing. It doesn’t merge files with the desktop files, which was probably done to prevent errors or may be a limitation of iTunes data sync. A separate database is created that can be merged easily with the desktop version. The sync process is easy and well explained in his through help pages. You do not need the desktop app to use the iPad version, though. Great app that I enjoy using and would recommend to iPad using HAM’s. 73 K5AD - joe ### 4/5 — Great Logging App *2014-02-01* I run MacLogger DX on my MacBook Air and MacLoggerDX HD on an iPad4. Very straightforward user interface with a clean design. The only nit I could pick is having to use iTunes file syncing to keep the database files up to date on both devices. It's a cumbersome process, but easier if you use the iPad app as a portable log and sync the file and merge it to the OS X application. I like to keep my full log on both devices, I would give this app 5 stars (even purchase it again) if iCloud syncing was added. It's a brilliant app for logging in the field, the iPad slips easily in my pack with a Yaesu FT-817 for outdoor ham radio adventures. ### 5/5 — Great app. Real addition to ham shack *2013-06-29* Great user interface...no brained to keep sync'ed with MacLoggerDX. Highly recommend. Additionally, the developer has been more than responsive To my questions......none of which related to the normal use od the app, rather my desire to circumvent functionality.....Most Developers would have blown me off......not this one. Really plug and play......I have had several on multiple platforms And this one as well as the Mac version are TRUE winners. ### 4/5 — Expensive but good *2012-11-10, version 1.09* I dont normally do app reviews. Yes it's expensive. But other than that a perfectly good logging programme. Easy to use and I can now consolidate logs across multiple devices. Would like to be able to edit an entry after I have entered it but other than that no complaints. Would have given 5 stars if it was not priced so high. ### 1/5 — Expensive and lacking *2012-10-29, version 1.09* A very expensive app that did not live up to expectations. Not easy to use, counterintuitive, confusing and with no easily accessible support. Maybe this app is better on a Mac and I expect that is where it came from, but it does not sit well on an iPad. BEWARE - selling through iTunes means no 'try before you buy' so if soon after you download you find this app is not for you you are stuck with it and app writers know this. The competition (Hamlog) does a much better job as a logging app for less than a thirtieth of the price! ### 5/5 — MacLoggerDX HD is a great app *2012-05-04* I never thought I would pay $40 for an iPad app, but a couple of weeks ago I purchased MacLoggerDX HD. I use MacLoggerDX as the logging program on my Mac and the two programs work together extremely well. The iPad version works very much like the Mac version. It is easy to sync the log on my Mac with the iPad. QRZ Online works well with both the cluster and the log and this is probably what I enjoy most about the program. I enjoy automatically seeing the photos associated with the different spots, just like on the Mac. It is also nice seeing the spots on the map. I always have my iPad with me and it is very convenient having a copy of my log, and DX spots with me. The unfortunate thing is that it is too easy to see what DX I am missing while I am working!
