## What is Macrilon Field App?

For existing Macrilon customer teams: a company-provided account and an assigned job are required — there is no sign-up in the app.

Macrilon Field App is the utility pole survey app for crews working make-ready, joint-use and fiber construction jobs on the Macrilon platform. Walk the line, photograph every pole, and record what is on it. It is built for places with no cell service: the app itself is on your iPhone, so it opens and works where your phone has no signal at all.

SURVEY A POLE
• Take pole, wire span and surroundings photos with the iPhone camera. Mark a span as a drop (secondary service or communication drop) and choose its crossing type, such as over roadway.
• Each pole has one capture board: whole pole, pole tag, birthmark, guy wires, anchors, equipment, wire span and surroundings, plus an optional Comm tags tile for the tags on communication cables. The next photo is lit up; tap GO to take it.
• Most photos save by themselves; tap Add another for one more. No guy wires or no equipment? One tap on None, no photo needed.
• Record the pole ID, pole tag, equipment (transformer, arresters, riser, streetlight, capacitor, recloser), communication companies and the owner of each line, and notes. Companies are remembered for the whole job.
• Mark a pole you couldn't reach and choose the reason.

ON A PHONE THAT CAN MEASURE (IPHONE MODELS WITH A LIDAR SCANNER)
Ruler: walk up to the pole, tap its base (a magnifier shows exactly where you're tapping), then step back to fit the whole pole in the picture. Marks every 4 ft from 2.5 ft up to 34.5 ft, those in the picture, are saved with the photo. They are an on-phone check, not a surveyed height.
If the Ruler can't read the ground, the Macrilon logo still takes the photo; it is saved with no Ruler height.
After a Ruler photo, one quick question asks you to tap where the pole meets the ground. It helps us improve height accuracy and never blocks you: Skip or Base hidden.
The map pin can move from where you are standing to the pole face, using the direction and distance from the phone.
Stick photo: put the physical stick in the frame. Phones that cannot measure use this path.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE
• Download your job while you have signal: its poles go onto your iPhone.
• The Day readiness check reports what it can measure before you go — room for photos, which jobs are downloaded and how old they are, work still waiting to upload, when your sign-in ends, whether camera and location are allowed, and battery. It shows estimates and says so, and it does not guarantee an all-day run.

IN A DEAD ZONE
• Open the app, pick your downloaded job, and keep surveying: capture, pole details, notes, the pole list, the map and the guides all work offline.
• Photos you save wait on your iPhone. They upload automatically while the app is open, connected and signed in; anything that needs attention is shown in the upload status at the top of the screen.
• The map shows the job's poles, and your position when location is allowed and a fix is available; satellite imagery needs signal.

LOCATION FOR EVERY CAPTURE
• Your iPhone's location is recorded with each photo while the app is open, when you have allowed location and a usable fix is available. Saving never waits for GPS: a rough location is marked approximate.
• The app compares it with the pole on record — from your download, so this works offline — and asks you to review a mismatch.
• Adjust the pin on satellite imagery when you're standing away from the pole.
• Locate me waits for a good GPS fix and warns you when the GPS signal is weak.

SEE THE JOB
• Poles sorted by distance, showing which ones already have photos. Planned poles show their SCID on the list and the map; pick one and its SCID fills in the Pole ID.
• The photos already uploaded for the job (needs a connection).

LANGUAGES
• English, and Spanish, French (Canada) and Portuguese (Brazil) (all beta): choose it in More > Language.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-10-09

Map and List
- A new Map with pole symbols and colors for what's left to field, done, or needs a look. Tap a pole for its card: Field this pole, Street View, Directions.
- A new List: one card per pole, filtered To field / Done / Needs a look.

Capture
- Wire span photo in two steps: pick the span on a small map, then say what it crosses.
- New Ground wire tile (photo, or None if there isn't one).
- Add more than one photo on a tile; the tile shows how many.
- Field checklist: vehicle access, replacement mark, poles at the spot, vegetation, guy gauge, anchor details, span length and bearing, and ground-line circumference when a pole has no tag and no birthmark.

Languages
- French (Canada) and Portuguese (Brazil) join Spanish as beta languages: choose one in ••• > Language, or keep Phone language.

Ruler
- Each height shows where it came from. Ruler and photo heights are estimates: not for clearance, design or construction decisions.

Also
- Dark mode and large text on the new screens, plus fixes and improvements.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-08

Fewer taps per pole
- Whole pole, guy wire, equipment and surroundings photos now save by themselves. Tap Add another to take one more; the photo you already have is kept.
- Saving no longer waits for GPS. If your location is rough, the photo still saves and is marked approximate.
- The count always reads n/7, and the next photo stays on screen above GO.
- No guy wires or no equipment on a pole? Tap None once, no photo needed. None on Guy wires also completes Anchors.
- New optional Comm tags tile: take close-ups of the tags on communication cables, type the owner if you can read it, or tap None. It does not change the n/7 count.
- New span crossing type: Over roadway - vehicles pass under.
- "Pole stamp" is called Birthmark again (the pole's stamped length and class).

Ruler (iPhones with LiDAR)
- A magnifier, now 50% bigger, shows exactly where your finger is when you tap the pole base. Slide to adjust, lift to set.
- If a base tap isn't accepted, the Ruler tells you what to do, such as "Step closer" or "Hold still". You can always take the photo without a Ruler height.
- The base and height marks stay on screen when you step back more than about 26 ft from the pole.

Poles and map
- A wire span or surroundings photo taken away from the pole stays on that pole. It no longer starts a new pole.
- GPS never switches your pole on its own. If a pick from the list can't go through, the app tells you why and offers to take you back to your pole.
- The map shows the SCID of each planned pole. Estimated span lengths are no longer shown.

Language
- Español (beta): choose it in More > Language, or keep Phone language to follow your iPhone's setting.

Also
- More > About shows the app version and build number.
- Fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-10-08

- Fewer taps per pole: whole pole, guy wire, equipment and surroundings photos save by themselves. A short "saved" line offers Retake.
- Save no longer waits for GPS. A rough location still saves and is marked approximate.
- Ruler (iPhones with LiDAR): a magnifier shows exactly where you're tapping the pole base, and if a tap isn't accepted the Ruler tells you what to do ("Step closer", "Hold still").
- New quick question after a Ruler photo: "Tap where the pole meets the ground". It never blocks you: tap Skip, or Base hidden if you can't see the base.
- The whole-pole photo is never blocked. If the Ruler can't read the ground, the photo still saves without a Ruler height.
- Fixes.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-10-07

- New capture board: every photo for a pole on one screen. The next photo is lit up; tap GO to take it.
- Clearer names: Pole tag, Pole stamp, Guy wires, Anchors, Wire span, Surroundings and Office request.
- Guy wires and Anchors have their own tiles. Answer once, photograph each anchor and pick its rod size.
- Equipment chips: tap what is on the pole, shown with full names. Read the transformer rating from its plate.
- Planned poles show their SCID. Pick one and its SCID fills in the Pole ID.
- Ruler (iPhones with LiDAR): easier steps. Walk up to the pole, tap its base, then step back to fit the whole pole.
- The whole-pole preview now shows the entire pole.
- Shorter camera instructions, and fixes.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-10-06

• Whole-pole camera: fit the whole pole with its top below the guide line and its base at GROUND. The Macrilon logo shutter sits on the right edge of every camera.
• Ruler (iPhones with LiDAR): your base tap is checked. A base read from too far away or with unclear depth is refused, and the app tells you what to do instead.
• Birthmark: after the birthmark photo, tap the pole length on the stamp and the class, or "Can't read the birthmark".
• Pole tag: the tag number, the company on the tag and "This company owns the pole" come up right under the tag photo.
• Equipment: Transformer bank added; 37.5 and 75 kVA are standard choices; a "Take the transformer photo" button sits under the hint.
• Comm lines: one question. Add Fiber, CATV or Telco lines with their owners; owners carry over to your next pole on the same job.
• Flags and warnings: Flag, Pole not in field and Warning, each with its own note. Warnings use the crew's condition lists and include make-ready violation types.
• Height: "What did you measure?" (Neutral by default).
• Pinch to zoom on close-ups. The whole-pole photo always stays at 1x.
• Retake keeps the birthmark reading and anchor rod answers of the photo you kept.
• An answer the phone could not store retries by itself; "Not saved yet" shows until it is stored.
• Photos on this phone (works with no signal): see what is waiting, uploaded or failed.
• Pole names lead with the pole tag. Map colours show what has been fielded.
• Navigate opens directions to a pole; Street View opens Google Maps at the pole. Locate me tells you when Precise Location is off.
• Go-backs: when your office asks for a pole to be re-shot, it shows in the List, on the Map and on Capture, with Mark collected. Offline downloads include them.
• Full-size and RAW photo copies when your office turns them on. Signing out now tells you before unsent RAW copies are deleted and asks you to confirm.
• Try new designs (More menu): a practice area for upcoming layouts. Nothing in it is saved or sent.
• Fixes: the Map and List redraw when you change jobs; Street View and Navigate open correctly.
