### 4/5 — Good app

*2026-04-14, version 3.6.0*

Great for tracking macros. Recipe function is very handy. Needs to improve the search function. Can be funky at times.

### 4/5 — Request for ‘My Foods’ to be default tab/filter

*2026-02-15*

It would be nice if the ‘My Foods’ tab when logging and adding meals was the default tab that showed first instead of ‘All’. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but I’m usually creating my own food entries and have them saved under My Foods, so it would be nice if it could be quick to log foods from My Foods instead of having to click out of the ‘All’ filter every time I want to log food. It would make logging food less tedious. That’s my only complaint about the app functionality. Perhaps make it an option in the settings? The Lose It app has My Foods filter automatically show first when logging food which makes it easy to track.

### 3/5 — Very jarring on the eyes

*2026-01-04, version 3.5.3*

The colour scheme is terrible. It makes your eyes water. Also entering new foods should be AI enabled to auto read the labels from photographs. Otherwise the app is good but I have stopped using just because it hurts my eyes.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2025-12-22, version 3.5.3*

Been using for a long time. Good for simplified and customized experience..could really use a widget..that would be a great addition

### 3/5 — Latest update

*2025-10-21, version 3.4.5*

Dashboard seems like the update was half done. The weight graph is not helpful in its current state. Where did 7 day average go?

### 4/5 — Very good app

*2025-10-11, version 3.4.4*

I’m on a cut and have been using this app. It’s very simple and easy to use and you can make your own foods by putting the macros in. You can also add a macro goal which tracks carbs, fats and protein as well as the calories. It does look bland though which can be a bit in motivating but everything is very easy and simple to use. They even have a barcode scanner which are getting less and less common.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2025-10-07*

This is the best tracker out there, almost :/. Especially for people who just want to track and don’t want all the frills in their face. The only drawn back is that so many of the calorie counts are so far off. It is so frustrating. I by far want to stick with and only use this app but the calorie counts are off on so many items that is isn’t trustworthy enough to stick with it. If there was some quality control on the calorie counts I would never leave.

### 3/5 — Robust but not easy to use

*2025-09-29*

Probably far more powerful than I needed, but too confusing to use at the end of the day. Plus I had several problems getting the macros correct, even when I turn off the auto calc of macros and enter them myself, after entering servings the macros would be slightly off as if still trying to outsmart me. And then there are the phantom food entries - just this morning two servings of apples showed up on my diary without me adding them in. Can’t figure out how to delete a diary entry, so ended up just putting the serving sizes at 0 to cancel out the macros. Really wanted the flexibility of an app like this, but just too much work and inconsistency to make it a daily tracker.

### 3/5 — Recipe sharing yet?

*2025-09-26, version 3.4.4*

I want to go back to using this app, but until you add the ability to share recipes with others, I need to stick to MM+.

### 2/5 — Not Worth My Time

*2025-09-14, version 3.4.1*

Insanely annoying how the app decides the info I’m adding off of the label is wrong, and makes adjustments based upon who knows what. I’ve set it to avoid automatically adjusting my info, but even trivial things like potassium will go up for zero discernible reason. This app is more annoying than helpful.

### 3/5 — Inaccurate

*2025-09-06, version 3.3.9*

The app changes the calories for everything I log. Is there a way to make the app stop changing the calories? I tried manually inputting my food and it kept changing the calories count by a lot no matter how many times I tried adjusting it

### 2/5 — Can’t find many foods

*2025-08-13, version 3.3.7*

Update: now finding the barcode scanner is repeatedly wrong. If it does actually identify the product correctly it usually gets the nutrition details completely wrong!
I might return to this app sometime in the future but for now it’s simply wrong too often and the lack of foods in its database makes it very difficult to use. Shame really as it does have potential.
————————-
Original review: Running this in parallel with FitBee which I’ve been using for some time.
Really struggling with Macro Sync as it simply can’t find the foods I use whereas FitBee has very few missing.
I just don’t have the time nor the will to manually enter the nutrition values for so many items.
The barcode scanner seems to work well but I don’t always have the packaging to hand.
Overall I really like Macro Sync but the developer needs to reduce the hurdles to use it successfully, perhaps utilise the food database that FitBee uses?

### 3/5 — App

*2025-07-15, version 3.3.2*

Meals not copying from date and just defaults to one date with nothing coming up

### 3/5 — Measures in grams only

*2025-07-11, version 3.3.2*

Would like this app more if food could be measured in cups, ounces- not only grams

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2025-06-19, version 3.2.9*

To begin with it’s a great set up needinh an improvement . The inventory is lacking and anyone can override previous entries which leads to major miscalculations. Adding anything is a challenge unlike the other app. As an analyst I have found this user-not-very-friendly. Mainly - users are allowed to add anything and everything without anyone ever checking.
I have used the other free well known app for and the calculation are given - user friendly. I have amended/ added several foods and the outcome has been abysmal. I have done the same with MFP and had no issues.
I feel that the add on should be set up per 100h/ 100ml etc in order to be able to che l the info is correct. I have done several checks (the analyst within) and most have failed.

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2025-06-12, version 3.2.9*

The barcode doesn’t work at all. I have another app but I was hoping this one would work better because I like the set up of it.

### 2/5 — Database lacking

*2025-06-12, version 3.2.9*

I was pretty disappointed. I was going to do the two week trial and use their app first thing when I went to scan my protein powder’s neither of them were found and they are popular ones. It is safe to say I won’t be using their app or their service.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible changes in Dashboards

*2025-10-26, version 3.4.6*

Good tracker, but the last changes on the dashboards was a disaster, terrible for track progress now

### 1/5 — Can’t add to Diary

*2025-09-10, version 3.3.9*

Food Log can scan with barcode however cannot be “added” to track. There must be a bug

### 1/5 — So disappointed

*2025-05-30, version 3.2.8*

I downloaded this to try as I am trying to eat in a deficit. However all the barcode scans are incorrect. I’ve tried all my usual foods & every one of them is wrong

### 1/5 — Can’t add food

*2025-05-26, version 3.2.8*

I’m trying to add my own macros and it won’t let me. Additionally, it doesn’t allow you to add homegrown meats eggs.

### 1/5 — Not accurate at all

*2025-04-19*

Why even have a scanner built into your app if when you scan barcodes the information still comes up incorrect? And if I constantly wanted to have to type in every single bit of information for the food that I eat, I would stick with the current app that I’m using. If I could give this no stars, I probably would just for the simple fact that when you scan an item with the barcode, it still comes up with incorrect information. The best part about this app is the fact that I was able to input my own macros

**Developer response:** Thank you for the honesty review. The barcode scanner pulls in the information from a database of a few million entries, so there may be some entries here & there that have yet to make it in. That being said, we're always updating our food database so that more & more foods are available. In the cases where an item isn't showing up or an item appears inaccurate, Macro Sync allows you to edit the nutrition info manually and save it for future use so you'll known it's accurate. This is a good way to build up your own food database of things you most commonly eat that will be readily available to pull in the next time you want to log that particular food. We hope you give the app another shot as we continue to update everything and make improvements.

### 1/5 — Crashing/diary not available

*2025-03-28*

The app has been crashing since last evening, sporadically. This morning after a crash I am unable to view meal fields in order to add today’s entries or view entries from prior days. My profile still seems to be correct and my weight history is present, but food data has been unsynced. The app also routinely crashes when you search for things like “chicken,” in the full catalogue of foods - I’m assuming that’s probably got the most entries of anything and the app can’t handle the response load in search

**Developer response:** Really sorry to hear about this! I'm forwarding this to developer to look into. If you're not on the most recent version of iOS, I'd recommend updating that, as sometimes crashing can be a sign of internal software incompatability. In the meantime I'll be forwarding this to our team!

### 1/5 — Archaic. Crashes.

*2025-03-25, version 3.1.5*

This app isn’t good. Better options out there. Not much in the database. This app would been cool on 2013. Go else where and save your data plan and don’t download.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2024-12-21*

Really small food selection and weird layout

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review! I'm pleased to let you know we recently added 1.5 million items to the food database, so this should no longer be an issue! We'd love for you to give the app a try again and see what you think!

### 1/5 — Difficult to use and buggy

*2024-12-06, version 3.1.3*

I've long loved Macros Inc and disliked mm+ so I was happy to try their new app but after spending some time with it, it's not good. The food database is so small, the design is clunky, it's laggy, and you can't even enter a value for protein when creating a new food... With so many other good tracking apps out there, I don't get why macros inc chose to build a new one instead of integrating with others.

### 2/5 — Good tracker but has issues

*2026-02-03, version 3.5.5*

I love using the app, but every few weeks, a bunch of my foods get deleted out of my favorites. I eat the same food often, so the regulars get favorited. I have had to re-add food to my favorites 3 times now.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Delete feature

*2026-06-06, version 3.6.9*

I love this app so much! Super easy to use and completely free.
My only recommendation is to add on a delete feature for recipes, meals and individual ingredients to help with organization. Thank you!

### 5/5 — I love this app

*2026-05-10, version 3.6.5*

Free and no ads and it’s so easy to use! It tracks everything including fibre and vitamins too. There’s even a water log. I wish you could customise notifications for hitting certain goals by the end of the day for example for water. But for free and all the features I love this app man.

### 5/5 — Tired of paywalled features? Download this app.

*2026-02-21*

I’ll keep it simple. Do you want to easily track your calories and macros? Do you not want to pay for the privilege? Download this app.

It has all the basic tools you need. Enter your goals, scan your food, keep an eye on your calorie intake, macro balance, fiber and sodium levels for FREE. No subscription, no intrusive ads, no popups when you use the app. It’s a blessing. I was at my wits end with the popular meal diary apps, so much so I was about to swap back to pen and paper like it was 1850, but two dozen blind downloads and app deletions later, I found Macro Sync. Thank you Macros Inc, your app is exactly the streamlined, feature rich, easy to use food diary app I’ve been searching for years to find. I know this sounds like a paid review, but I assure you, it’s just a really good app.

Download it and give it a try, your account will be ready to go in less time than it took you to read this review. I promise you won’t regret it.

### 5/5 — Easy to navigate

*2026-02-10, version 3.5.6*

Clear dashboard, not overcomplicated. Easy to add foods and recipes and also to edit. I like that not only that I have My Foods list but also My Favourites. Used alongside Macros Inc fb group to set my personalised macros and for tips this is a brilliant app.

### 5/5 — Excellent simple and effective

*2026-01-25, version 3.5.5*

This free and it is FREE simple to use does exactly what you need

### 5/5 — True macro calculator!

*2026-01-07*

This app helped me loose weight and keep it off, even in middle age! A true macro calculator where you enter carbs, fat and protein and it calculates calories. You can also add more nutritional info if desired. Super accurate and prevents the over estimation the labels sometimes give. Easy to navigate but they want you to manually add your own ingredients, which is tedious but is what helps you be accurate and not over-eat by logging incorrectly. Easily synced with my Apple Watch so I could track steps. Can add weigh-in info. Only caveat: I entered my weight wrong and couldn’t edit.

### 5/5 — Great for a free app

*2025-12-16, version 3.5.3*

Wish it had more food options preprogrammed and it irks me that it always defaults to 1 gram instead of one serving but overall I’m really happy with it and it’s great considering it’s free

### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2025-09-14, version 3.4.1*

This app is so easy and it does everything I want and need! Best part, I don’t have to PAY to copy/paste items from one day to the next. It tracks real-time to another app that I use for coaching. Keep it up!!!

### 5/5 — Accountability

*2025-07-29, version 3.3.5*

I love the simplicity of this app. Really clear to follow and has loads of pre listed foods but also simple to add your own. I found the barcode scan function really invaluable when out shopping as I can scan and see all the macros instantly, then simply save to my food diary. The app also keeps me focused on my food nutritional balance intake and keeps me accountable staying in a healthy deficit.

### 5/5 — so helpful

*2025-06-25*

I love this App ! I had many reservations about tracking my food but i have none now! It is easy and keeps me on track and allows me to remain focused in a healthy way ! it makes me accountable and I cannot wait to see my next in body scan and the results of lifting and tracking my nutrition using this fabulous APP
