### 4/5 — Wish I Could Adjust Calories for Daily Exercise

*2026-08-28*

I really enjoy this app, and switched over from a different tracking app because this one is more user friendly and looks better. However, I’m thinking about switching back because the old app had a feature where you could adjust daily calorie goal based on calories burned for exercise- for example, in the old app I would enter in that I burned 200 calories by running 2 miles, and then I would eat an extra 200 calories to stay healthy. Now with this app I still eat the extra food, but now when I look back on my month I can’t tell how well I have been hitting my calorie deficit goal. Please add a feature like this MacrosFirst!

### 3/5 — Downgrade

*2026-08-26, version 2.1.729*

I’ve been a long time user of MacrosFirst. And the recent updates to the app are actually a downgrade in my mind. Specifically, the way that you enter in and create meals via the daily mails section. It seems like the app can do a lot to become more intuitive and user-friendly.

### 4/5 — MACRO TRACKER

*2026-08-24, version 2.1.729*

At first, the app was a little confusing, but once I got the hang of it, I really started to love it! I love that you can add your own food or drinks if they’re not already in the app. The precision and level of detail it provides is also really awesome and makes tracking everything so much easier. Overall, it’s been a great app for keeping up with my nutrition and macros!

### 3/5 — it’s ok

*2026-08-16, version 2.1.729*

not really worth paying for imo. I can’t scan anything in, everything has to be manually entered. might shop for something different but this is the first time I’ve tracked my macros.

### 3/5 — Declined Macros1st

*2026-08-09, version 2.1.729*

Declined the offer

### 4/5 — Brilliant app

*2026-08-07*

After some technical problems MacrosFirst were able to sort everything out. The app is excellent for logging food and has a lot of nutritional information, not just carbs, fats, protein and calories. This app gives you a breakdown of all nutrients. There’s a wide variety of foods already on the app and it’s super easy to add your own. I love the fact that you can have multiple meals a day, naming them whenever you want, not just the standard breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything is synced up to Apple Health, so very easy to track everything.

**Developer response:** I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the Apple Health integration. Please send us a chat from your MacrosFirst app at More > Contact Us so we can locate your account and help resolve this. Best, -JB

### 5/5 — Best free fitness app no cap

*2026-07-30, version 2.1.712*

Free app that has all you need simple way to navigate

### 4/5 — Great but two major annoyances

*2026-07-21*

I’ve been using this app for a couple months now and overall am very pleased. The number of features they provide on the free version is impressive! And I rarely have to manually enter a food (even for restaurants) because the number of items they already have is so vast. But I can’t for the life of me figure out why I need to essentially confirm adding food to the journal TWICE. You click into the meal, search or scan your food, insert the amount and save. But that simply adds it to a queue that you have to save again! I have had to redo so many entries because if you don’t save it the second time and you leave the app for too long it wipes out everything you’ve entered. Even if I remember all the details it’s super frustrating to have to enter it again. But it’s even worse when I have no recollection of the serving size and there’s no way for me to retrieve that. I use a scale a lot, so if I haven’t taken down the weight somewhere else, that information is just gone. I wish it would save it to my day the first time. Then if I get pulled away and can’t finish entering everything from my meal in one session, it’s there for me to pick up and finish later. I have ADHD and a toddler so I rarely finish entering everything from my meal in one session. Saving too aggressively is much easier to recover from than saving too conservatively. I’d much rather have to delete things that were saved too soon than lose information I can’t get back because it’s saved too late. Also my husband and I share meals and recipes back-and-forth quite frequently. When I open a recipe he shared with me and select log it to my day a date picker and list of meals shows up. If I select the meal but then change the date, it resets the meal and I have to enter it again! The meal selection should not be affected by the date picker. This one is more of a nuisance than a functional issue, but it’s still aggravating. If those two things were fixed this would be a five star review.

**Developer response:** Hi there, Thanks for your review and honest feedback. I'm happy to share that you can log foods in one tap: After tapping on a food in the search results and entering your serving size, just tap the "Log" button in the number pad and that logs the food to your Journal -- no need to reconfirm anything, it just gets logged straight away.

Regarding the date + meal picker, since different days can have different meals, the meal options to log to do reset when you change the date. For this reason we default you to today's date when saving a meal to a friend but I do understand that it is easy to miss. Best, -JB

### 4/5 — Challenge to cancel!

*2026-07-21, version 2.1.712*

App is fine BUT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL. 3 attempts to cancel my subscription and I’m still not satisfied that cancellation was accomplished. Very aggravating.

### 5/5 — The best tracker out there

*2026-07-19, version 2.1.712*

Believe me when I tell you that I have tried them all, and this is the only one that I have found to be accurate, intuitive, all inclusive, and just plain easy to use. I can customize it very easily to see what’s important to me and kudos to the developers!!!

### 5/5 — Wow

### 5/5 — Love this for tracking

*2026-07-17, version 2.1.698*

This is a great app for tracking food. The owners are always making improvements and reach out for feedback. I’ve been paying for the premium version for a few years now after leaving MFP.

### 5/5 — Thanks

### 5/5 — Best calorie tracking app

*2026-07-15, version 2.1.698*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — J

*2026-08-17, version 2.1.729*

Clumsy, scattered and totally unintuitive

### 1/5 — Calories are off from what it should be

*2026-08-03, version 2.1.726*

I recently purchased another truck that also lets you track macros and they compare the results to the same foods. The calories protein carbs values were absolutely different. I then double checked the nutrition information online and it turned out that values in MacrosFirst are significantly inaccurate
My example was with chicken breast and it’s inaccurate for 100cal and 10g of protein. When you are in a calorie deficit this amount of numbers matters a lot

### 1/5 — No help

*2026-08-01*

I’ve done everything to sync MacrosFirst with Apple Health and it will only pick up one item (even when I don’t log the particular item). Sadly the help centre just says it works fine there end, so zero help. I’ve chased them for a week for any help or an update, same thing “works there end”, which isn’t a great help. I’ve tried everything, even removing the app, re-syncing, syncing iCloud… nothing. I’ll probably end up back with MyFitnessPal, at least this shows all foods for the day.

**Developer response:** I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the Apple Health integration. Please send us a chat from your MacrosFirst app at More > Contact Us so we can locate your account and help resolve this. Best, -JB

### 1/5 — SCAM ALERT

*2026-07-31, version 2.1.712*

This is a SCAM app charges you non stop wether you cancel it or not. Even if you don’t sign up for one at all. IVE CONTACTED APPLE AND EVEN INACTIVE IT STILL KEEP CHARGING ME 41.99. SCAM ALERT. App will steal your money! Do not use!

### 1/5 — Horrible Update

*2026-07-01, version 2.1.679*

I really am disappointed I use to love this app in 2024-2025, the recent update is HORRIBLE. Please go back to the old app. It’s so hard to properly calculate your meals, Difficult to search and log already made meals, and it’s too much cluttered on one screen. I might as well give my fitness pal my money! I will be deleting this app.

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-06-30, version 2.1.679*

Once you get everything filled out they want $80 a year.

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2026-06-29, version 2.1.679*

After using this app for years and not seeing much progress, I finally realized its calories are underreported by up to 300. This is a huge and unforgivable discrepancy and their database should be checked and everyone who downloads this app with the hope of making progress should not have to go into this blind.

### 1/5 — Login loop

*2026-06-16, version 2.1.645*

You get the app, fill out questions and then need an email for a login link. Link takes you to a browser page that says download app, if you open the app it asks to open your email. No way to get past this loop of open app/open email. Maybe it works if you click premium instead of free.

### 1/5 — Can use without a subscription

*2026-06-04, version 2.1.629*

Don’t waste your time. You can’t use it without a subscription. Go through the whole set up for nothing. Total scam

### 1/5 — Thumbs down

*2026-05-26, version 2.1.618*

This app acts like it is free. It’s not! You have to get the premium version to even use it. Very deceptive and frustrating! Just say that it’s a paid app.🙄

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2026-08-29, version 2.1.729*

The app offers you impressive features for being completely free (Subscriptions are optional). I’ve been a user for about a year now and I can surely tell that this is one of the best macro apps out there, simple to use and convenient for those who are always on the rush!

### 5/5 — CL

*2026-08-28, version 2.1.729*

Good app

### 5/5 — Perfect fit.

*2026-08-22, version 2.1.729*

Want an app that tracks macros for free? Easily? No fuss? You found it. I’ve used this for a year and it has truly helped me moderate my lifestyle. The interface is easy. The design is simple. Its catalog of food is massive. And if you go out to a restaurant and get a burger, it takes maybe a minute to add a new food. I use it for tracking most days and I honestly enjoy it using the app. I have absolutely no complaints. Oh and get a cheap food scale if you’re serious.

### 5/5 — Best tracker

*2026-08-20, version 2.1.729*

Way better than My Fitness Pal and Weight Watchers

### 5/5 — SHOCKED

*2026-08-15, version 2.1.729*

THE BEST PARTS OF THIS APP IS COMPLETELY FREE!!! YOU GET TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR OWN MACROS AND CALORIE GOAL. UNLIKE OTHER APPS IT ACTUALLY FITS YOU WITH AN APPROPRIATE CALORIE GOAL FOR YOU AND YOUR NEEDS TOO!!!

### 5/5 — Great App!!

This is the only app I have ever used to track my food and keep up to date with my progress, I love how this app is free to use. You get so much with the free version.

### 5/5 — Game. Changer.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-10, version 2.1.729*

This app has really allowed me to understand the foods and the breakdown of all the Marcos I’m eating so easily. I love the scanning feature and it really helps with my understanding of the proper nutrients I need in a day. Love it!!

### 5/5 — Best tracker

*2026-08-01, version 2.1.712*

Best tracker but please can you do a widget for iPhones? It’d be so much better to have the app right in front of the user
