This used to be free. Now not very inclusive since you have to pay 30€ a month and only get 4 events on top of that. Basically useless app if you’re not a member I used to go to cool events and have cool encounters but now it’s for a bunch of privileged artists and their privileged friends

The app is really nice and unique, there’s interesting events, but I don’t think its fair that when I paid a total of €78 euros and saved up a lot of credits that the moment I cancelled it I lost all of them. This is a new feature. A few months ago I had also canceled it, but I kept my credits and there were still some events I could go to. The events were ranked as either plain (I forgot the real name), bronze, silver, and gold. I was still able to go to the plain ones. It kept me engaged with the app and it made me buy a subscription again.

Just to clarify, credits do not expire immediately after cancelling the membership. They remain available until the end of the active 3-month membership period, so you can still use them during that time.

i really liked Mae it was great to find small local artists in berlin. now everything is paywalled and members only. what’s the point of “creating community” if you have to buy into it before you can even participate? 
artists are lost in the void of bigger social media apps so it was nice to have something like this. it just sucks now that you can’t even look at what people are posting until you become a member. disappointed.

It offers unique and small art gatherings like studio visits but that’s it (at least since I joined). I wish they would also add our big museums and galleries so i know what’s going on there currently and I have everything in one place. A calendar with an overview of the exhibitions or events I want to go to would be great aswell. So far I’m not sure if only studio visits is enough for me to stay subscribed.

I’ve been following mae since the beginning and it is amazing to see how much it has developed. The app is definitely what was missing in the city of Berlin and it has now grown enough to have established a solid community with the members and artists. I love how events bring connections in a much more intentional way than regular dating, friendship apps or other meetups. I also love to see events I wouldn’t find anywhere otherwise! Totally worth it.
