## What is MagCalc?

MagCalc allows you to conveniently convert between the most common magnetic units and properties:

- Magnetic field strength, flux and flux density

- Volume and mass magnetisation

- Molar, mass and volume susceptibility

- Magnetic dipole moment

- Energy product

- Permeability

Unit conversion is easily triggered by choosing the property and typing in the value of the unit you want to convert. Conversion to many other units is then performed on the fly while you are typing.

It is also possible to convert units from one property to another by providing additional information such as the density and/or molar mass of the system you are investigating. In this way, e.g. the units of volume magnetisation can be calculated from the mass magnetisation or vice versa.

In addition, a tool for the calculation of the demagnetisation factor of cylindrical sample shapes or parallelepipeds is included.

MagCalc also contains a table of the most common physical constants used in magnetism in cgs and SI units.

It contains a periodic table as well. Just tab on an element to see detailed information

- Electronegativity (Pauling scale)

- Melting and boiling point in Kelvin

- Atomic weight

- Electron configutation

- Magnetic transition temperatures (if available)

or double-tab elements to select/deselect them. You can then calculate the molar mass of a compound consisting of your selected elements, copy the value and use it for one of the conversions.

Please note:

- Demagnetisation factors are calculated by numerical methods and might not work for all possible values you type in. In that case, you should be warned by a short message.

## Frequently asked questions about MagCalc

### What magnetic units can MagCalc convert?

MagCalc supports conversion for magnetic field strength, flux, flux density, volume and mass magnetization, molar, mass and volume susceptibility, magnetic dipole moment, energy product, and permeability.

### How does MagCalc calculate conversions between different properties?

You can convert units from one property to another by providing additional information such as the density and/or molar mass of the system. This allows for conversions like volume magnetization from mass magnetization.

### What kind of information is available on the periodic table in MagCalc?

The periodic table in MagCalc provides details for each element including electronegativity, melting and boiling points, atomic weight, electron configuration, and magnetic transition temperatures if available.

### Can I calculate the molar mass of a compound using MagCalc?

Yes, you can select elements from the periodic table and then calculate the molar mass of a compound made from those selected elements. This value can then be used for unit conversions.

### What is the demagnetization factor tool in MagCalc used for?

The demagnetization factor tool is included for calculating the demagnetization factor of cylindrical sample shapes or parallelepipeds. It uses numerical methods and may provide warnings for certain input values.

### Does MagCalc have ads?

Based on the provided data, there is no indication of advertisements within MagCalc. It is listed as a free application.

### What devices is MagCalc available on?

MagCalc is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices, running on iOS.

### When was MagCalc last updated?

The latest version of MagCalc, 1.0.3, was last updated on October 24, 2019.
