I’ve always wanted to read classics like The Count of Monte Cristo and Frankenstein but every time I tried, I’d give up halfway — the language just felt too dense or old-fashioned. With this app though, I can actually follow along. I started with the “beginner” level and then bumped it up as I got more confident. It doesn’t feel dumbed down, it just feels more… readable? Like someone finally made books for people like me who didn’t grow up reading Shakespeare in school. I’ve already finished 3 books this month which is honestly insane for me. I even started reading on the bus instead of scrolling TikTok lol. I always thought that I was the problem, which diminished my confidence further. I stopped reading for a few years completely until I met my English teacher by accident. She recommended this app that she uses to help students with reading. It really helped!! Turns out my English was not as good as I thought, and those books were just not my level. I'm really thankful for this app as I just finished my first book IN YEARS! As we all know illiteracy has been increasing sharply in recent years, and your app is a fantastic contribution to helping ensure that these numbers only keep rising. In addition to the hard work you have done to help increase illiteracy, you are also doing so much to erase literature. By “dumbing down” great works, you remove so many layers of meaning from the texts as to render them almost completely different books. For example, in Moby Dick, the last sentence of paragraph one states that everyone harbors a desire to go sailing, if they only knew. However, in your wonderfully reduced version, you remove that pesky viewpoint, and just say that many others feel similarly. I really appreciate all this hard work you are doing, with any luck we can eradicate all human writers in the next 10 years! INGENIOUS, INTERWOVEN, DIVERT, APT, CLOY, DEXTERITY. These are just from the two pages open in front of me. I’m not cherry picking. The next page?
