Magic 10 is a fun way to learn the mental math strategy called Make a Ten. Make a 10 is a fundamental building block to help children solve more complex math problems. Make a 10 will help your student become faster and more efficient in addition and subtraction. Magic 10 provides the practice needed to help children memorize the number combinations that add to 10 and empower them with a strategy to solve more difficult math problems.

Magic 10 has 3 card choices that are adjusted to different levels of learning. The first deck has numbers as well as 10 frames so that your child can count the empty boxes to assist them in finding a number match that will add to 10. The second deck has numbers and stars that your child can count to find the correct number 10 combinations. The third deck is numbers only. It will provide practice on quickly identifying the math facts that equal 10.

There are two types of game play in Magic 10. You can practice by yourself or play against a partner. The player who can make the most magic wins!

I used this app as a whole group in my class this past week. They loved it! I really like the 10 frames. They were able to count the empty frames to find out how many more they needed to make 10. Goes right along with the new common core. Thanks! Can't wait for them to play in on their own iPads next week!
