### 3/5 — Light bulbs keep disappearing

*2018-03-22*

The 2 bulbs I have disappear from the home screen and I cannot reset them, and will randomly reappear. Annoying when I try to change colors and I have to unscrew the bulb or just wait until it decides to show back up. Followed instructions to ‘find and reset’ the bulb, and still no luck.

### 1/5 — Always been bad, now it’s broken

*2026-03-16*

The app has been terrible from the time I got the lights til now. It’s always been a struggle to connect the lights, and they’d randomly get disconnected and have to be reconnected which is a MAJOR hassle on the app. Now anytime I try to connect them, the app just tells me the Wi-Fi is disconnected and asks me to retry over and over and over. I should have saved my money years ago and gotten Philips hue products and saved myself the use of this godawful app.

### 1/5 — Just glitches out, waste of time

*2024-07-12, version 1.2.2*

.

### 1/5 — Terrible App Loses Connectivity

*2020-05-08*

I have yet to be able to get it to connect to Alea and the app loses connectivity to WiFi constantly. This makes the timers virtually worthless as it seems it must stay connected to work!! Please make a stable app!!

### 1/5 — Used to work, but now it’s spotty at best

*2019-10-11*

UI is terrible, interface is confusing and awful. Worst of all? The lightbulb barely connects and there’s no way to refresh. This app really needs a redesign

### 1/5 — Mic?

*2018-04-16*

What happened to the mic?

### 1/5 — Microphone

*2017-11-11*

No mic support now! Easily my favorite feature.

### 2/5 — Good, but...

*2018-04-15*

This is good. However, I do think it would be nice if the app supported apple’s “today widget”. Also, the screen background is annoying and I would appreciate it if it was changeable, or else, the background was a solid color. The response time of the light(s) is very fast though.

### 2/5 — Apple Watch

*2017-12-29*

I own the Magic Hue Wifi Bulb, and I would really LOVE the ability to download this app on my Apple Watch. It would be amazing! My rating MAY go up if there is a Apple Watch compatible app...

### 3/5 — Worked at first

*2021-06-03*

Simple app, easy to use. However it doesn’t support 5Gghz wifi. My bulbs just disappeared from my list and im unable to reconnect them. :/

### 3/5 — YouTube

*2018-08-08*

Shouldn’t have to have songs on apple to play to lights, should be allowed YouTube and other music streaming apps

### 5/5 — One problem

*2020-03-13*

There should be an option to change the brightness on your own custom light settings not just on the single color option. Every time i click on my custom light settings it changes the brightness and there is no way to change it. It also maybe should retain the brightness setting switching over from different settings. Other than that all good!

### 5/5 — How to delete group

*2018-09-22*

So I accidentally created a group, for some reason Google thinks the group is a light. So I will ask Google to turn off all lights and he says okay turning off 5 lights when I only have 4 how do I delete the Group?

### 5/5 — Fabulous App

*2018-02-16, version 1.0.6*

Works very well and the Amazon Echo skill is great!

### 4/5 — Alright

*2020-12-08, version 1.2.2*

It’s alright but I just ended up coding my own on a local website using python. Works a lot better

### 4/5 — Firmware

*2020-07-08*

There is no way to update firmware on the devices. This is problematic when running multiple devices with different firmware, especially the rgbw controllers. The 6.v1 firmware will not allow light color control via Alexa or google assistant, so when grouped with controllers that do, voice functions don’t work. I don’t know if this is an app problem or a device problem.

Aside from that I’m been using these for years with no problems until these new controllers.

### 4/5 — Preset only for RGB not RGBW or RGBWW

*2018-11-02, version 1.0.7*

The DIY preset button only stores the RGB colour not the RGBW or RGBWW colour. Therefore when the colour is changed, then you want to get back to the original colour setting with the DIY preset button, you can only get the same RGB colour. This issue needs to be addressed so the DIY preset button saves the value for all of the R,G,B,W and WW LEDs.

### 4/5 — Power Button Doesn’t Sync State

*2018-04-26*

I’ve been using it for about a week now and don’t have any complaints with exception of the power button.

The power button doesn’t sync the state with the light. So for example if the light is on and I open the app, it defaults to “Off” so pressing it attempts to turn on the light again, which does nothing. You have to press the button again to turn it off. Should be a simple fix but with 3 months between updates I wouldn’t doubt it. My question is what happens when apps like this simply go away.

### 3/5 — Good but room for improvement

*2018-04-21, version 1.0.6*

Basics work fine, colour selection, sunrise sunset timers etc. However, brightness does not fade smoothly but jumps in steps which is particularly noticeable at low brightness. It must be possible because continuous loop fade is smooth in another part of the app. Product would be significantly improved if smooth fading is added.
