I have a bedroom that doesn’t get much sunlight so hanging out there with the scheduled lighting let’s me match the daylight to the light in my room. The only thing that is upsetting is that I can’t seem to connect this to my google home mini because it is connected over Bluetooth instead of WiFi. When I tried adding it to the google home app, this app doesn’t come up in the list of apps that can connect. Magic light WiFi is the only kind hat appears. Next time I buy a light bulb I’m going to have to make sure it connects over WiFi so I don’t run into this problem. ### 3/5 — Needs updating *2018-06-17, version 1.0.5* Apple Watch app does not work due to software being outdated. ### 3/5 — Buggy *2018-01-04, version 1.0.4* A lot of times this app won’t even connect to the light. The night light setting is great for having to get up in the middle of the night. ### 4/5 — Good app, one flaw so far *2017-08-06, version 1.0.4* I like the app, I use it everyday to control 2 smart LED lights. Very handy. The only flaw that I found so far is the on/off button on the main screen doesn't update. It always is green even if the light is off. In the device main screen it does update correctly. You can change the tint of your room to either your personal favorite color or which one to express the mood you're in, change the brightness, having night mode and many more. And all can be done simply through your phone, I don't have any connection problems so far and it can get some range. My only complaints is that you should be able to do more when setting up a timer, light being able to change the color or tint during it. That and if you could make a setting where when you walk a certain range near the bulb with your phone it'll automatically turn on. Do that and five stars!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ### 3/5 — Should allow more than 6 timers *2017-03-17, version 1.0.3* Otherwise works good. ### 4/5 — Magic Light BT *2017-02-18, version 1.0.1* This is an incredible app, but in my eyes there is one thing missing. I don't get why, though there is a microphone setting, there is no clap to turn off setting. I would have made it five stars. Also, the light dancing to music makes my eyes hurt! ### 3/5 — Missing a few key attributes *2017-01-09, version 1.0.1* You can't get a bright, clean white spectrum. You only have options for warm or cool and the cool is way too blue. The bulbs only sync with iTunes. They should sync with any player – Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc. The app should allow you to create different presets. You can save certain colors for quick picks but not arrangements of colors. ### 3/5 — Decent app with potential *2016-12-14, version 1.0.1* The app has good features but I would like to see more control on the user end. But not a bad app ### 3/5 — Needs more accurate warm/cool *2016-07-04, version 1.0.1* Many features to the app, but the main reason I bought it, like others, is for a good range of whites and for a sunrise alarm. The white temperature color picker doesn't offer enough of a range of warm colors. The bulb responds with a blueish white for all but the most orange selection on the picker. I appreciate the inclusion of the sunrise alarm, but there are two problems with it: 1) can't choose to start with a warmer/orange hue and 2) changes in brightness are sudden, not gradual ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Limited usefulness *2023-09-27* The app offers neither any widgets on iOS, nor any functions for shortcuts to use for me to build my own widgets. Additionally keeping the app open in the background causes it to stop working until someone manually swipes away. And finally, despite the age of the app and how little money the developer probably makes on this app, it’s not open source, so I can’t build myself a fixed version. ### 1/5 — Works. Sort of. *2020-10-14, version 1.0.8* The app is spotty to begin with. How is there no automation/shortcut functionality. Needs a scene mode for multi bulbs *2020-01-31, version 1.0.8* If the room needs more than 5 bulbs it becomes hard to change settings. Moving between group settings is too slow. Please replace whatever that is on the scene mode button with a real lighting scene mode that can save the settings of at least 10 lights. Also 10 custom color settings instead of 5 would be helpful. I could see these being useful in some commercial settings if you could change them all with one button press ### 3/5 — Great but missing one feature - please add *2019-08-09, version 1.0.7* This is nice b/c is Bluetooth instead of wifi. One feature request and I would give 5 stars. Add option in the timer mode to turn on in one of the diy custom light modes. Right now it's only options in timer mode is either white light, or one of the other pre-programmed transition modes, non of which are particularly great. Amazing product! *2021-01-07, version 1.0.8* I’ve had this lightbulb, with the app of course, for about 2 years now and it’s continued to work flawlessly the entire time. Through moving 5 or 6 different times and change of locations around the house, it instantly connects to my phone and responds with no latency. It can’t connect to WiFi but I don’t need it to; it works exactly the way I need it to. One thing I suggest to the developers is update the UI. It’s pretty outdated and hard on the eyes, if it were to get a more modern, sleek look to it I’d love it even more.
