I reset my password and found I had a few designs still saved. So I opened a couple of them in 'read-only' format, mindful that I only had 2 free edits available to me and each design that I opened lost me one free credit until I had none! Die Nutzeroberfläche ist simpel und selbsterklärend, die Bedienung einfach. Man bekommt sogar Auswertungen zu natürlichem Lichteinfall, Wohnfläche und auch Grundrisspläne. Selbst die Funktion zum Scannen von Räumen (AR/LiDAR) ist kostenlos und relativ genau. Ich bin sehr begeistert von dieser App und sehe die einzige mögliche Verbesserung darin, dass man auch zukünftig Böden hinzufügen und die Modelle in Farbe darstellen könnte. Das wäre aber auch schon auf Niveau einer vollwertigen Architektur Software und wäre absolut nicht zwingend erforderlich. ### 4/5 — Easy to use *2026-07-11* I first downloaded this app when we were planning our last house. Paid for the download to share with our builder and even though I was just winging it, he was impressed. Since then I have used it mostly just when planning a room layout or playing around (mostly playing around). I noticed that some of the items I have in older floor plans no longer exist, at least in the free version, like the deck base. Does not have a way to copy and paste multiple rooms at once. You can still copy individual rooms but then you have to move each room. P.S. if you add a tool to copy and paste multiple rooms make it where you can rotate and flip them like you can individually. Also make them able to move as a group. ### 2/5 — MagicPlan Review (Professional Surveyor Perspective) *2026-06-30, version 2026.25.0* I use MagicPlan professionally to create floor plans for residential properties, including large luxury homes. Unfortunately, after extensive use, I can no longer rely on the software for larger or more complex projects. Major Issues 1. No Autosave During Active Scanning This is my biggest complaint. While actively scanning a property, there is no automatic save feature. If the app freezes or your phone dies, you can lose a significant amount of work. For professional field work, this is an enormous risk. 2. No Way to Monitor Scan Size The app appears to become unreliable on very large homes (around 2,000+ sq ft of active scanning), but it provides no indication of how much has been scanned while you’re working. Because of this: * You don’t know when you’re approaching the limit. * You can’t proactively save your work. * You simply continue scanning until the app eventually freezes or becomes unstable. A live square footage counter or memory usage indicator would solve much of this problem. 3. You Can’t Safely Pause to Save Because the scan is continuous, there is no practical way to stop and verify your progress without interrupting the workflow. You’re essentially forced to keep going and hope the app doesn’t fail before you’re finished. 4. Rooms and Walls Disappear After Saving This is the most frustrating bug I’ve encountered. During the scan, everything appears correctly in the preview. However, after saving the project, entire rooms or walls can disappear. This means: * The preview cannot be trusted. * The saved project is different from what was verified. * You may not discover missing rooms until much later. For professional work, this is unacceptable. 5. Curved/Round Rooms Are Not Reliable The software struggles with circular or curved rooms, especially those with multiple windows. Even after carefully measuring these spaces, the saved room often does not preserve the correct shape. 6. Large Projects Are Risky I recently surveyed a 6,500 sq ft home. Because my phone battery died during the survey and the app had not automatically saved my progress, critical portions of the project—including the entry and staircase—were lost. That forced me to contact my client about returning to remeasure areas that had already been completed. 7. Flashlight Limitation While scanning, I cannot activate my phone’s flashlight. This becomes a real issue in: * Dark closets * Stairwells * Utility rooms * Poorly lit areas Professional survey software should not prevent access to such a basic phone function. Customer Support I reported multiple issues to support in detail. Unfortunately, I did not receive meaningful solutions or acknowledgement of the problems. That was especially disappointing considering these issues directly affect paid client work. Final Thoughts MagicPlan has a lot of potential, and when it works it can be very efficient. However, reliability is everything for professionals. When software can: * Lose work because there is no autosave, * Remove rooms after saving, * Struggle with complex geometry, * Become unreliable on large homes, it becomes difficult to trust on important client projects. I hope these issues are addressed because the underlying concept is excellent. Until then, I’ll be looking for more reliable alternatives for professional residential surveys. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Difficult *2026-08-25, version 2026.33.0* Doesn’t work in a very small home ### 1/5 — Paid subscription, but I cannot access my account — and support is inaccessible *2026-08-25, version 2026.33.0* I purchased a paid magicplan subscription, but I have been unable to access my account. I have requested a password reset repeatedly, but the reset email never arrives. I checked my inbox, spam and junk folders and tried multiple times over more than a full day. I then contacted magicplan support. Their AI support agent acknowledged that the issue requires investigation by a human Support team and instructed me to click “Escalate to Support.” The problem? The escalation link leads to a 404 – Page Not Found page. I reported the broken link, and the AI support agent responded by asking me to click the same “Escalate to Support” button again. I did — and it still leads to the same 404 error. So at this point: * I have paid for a subscription I cannot use. * The password-reset system is not working for my account. * The escalation link to human support is broken. * I have spent more than a full day trying to resolve the issue. * I am still dealing with an AI support bot instead of a human who can actually restore access to my paid account. This is extremely disappointing for a paid professional service. I am happy to update this review if magicplan provides actual human support, restores access to my account, and addresses the subscription time I have lost. Until then, I cannot recommend paying for this service. ### 1/5 — I am unable to scan a new floor *2026-07-30, version 2026.29.0* This app woks only for 3 projects and keep asking you to pay.. ### 1/5 — What happened? *2026-07-30, version 2026.30.0* This app was great. I had my entire house scanned. It was a set and forget on my phone. Came back recently while shopping for furniture and you've moved to a different business model, my scans are gone and I can't access anything. They also want your street address and access to about everything on your phone. Half of the time I can’t even get the project to populate on my desk top, trying to rework errors in the scan itself was impossible in some scenarios, export to sketch up was also not supported for me.
