## What is MagicPortraits?

In certain magical circles, portraits are known to not just be still - but alive. Instead of a regular still photograph imagine the subject in your portrait looking back at you, changing expression, walking in and out of the frame. You can watch a MagicPortrait with the application, which is basically a simple video endless loop creator and player. MagicPortraits makes it incredible easy to create and play video endless loops.

You can record or convert existing videos and transform them into magical endless loops. A simple filter for B&W and Sepia conversion adds an antique look. Magical Portraits can be both vertical and horizontal. The portraits are saved as regular video files and can be copied using iTunes Apps/File Sharing feature. The easiest way to share your portrait creations is with the build in YouTube upload. YouTube supports video loops and these YouTube endless loops can be easily embedded in any web site. We provide a guide on our web site that shows you how.

Another way to embed a MagicPortrait into a web site is to include them as quicktime movies. This guide shows you how you can do that in less than one minute using iWeb. Embedding a MagicalPortrait into any web site is as simple as embedding video into a site. Using the html samples in the upcoming guide makes it a snap. The guide will be included in the next update and even sooner on our web site.

What to consider to create a great MagicPortrait:

The goal is to create an endless loop that will animate the subject where it is not possible to tell where the loop begins/ends. Avoid moving the camera, the background should be still. The subject can look in the camera, look away, up down or simply change expression.

Here are some ideas for MagicPortraits that will work well:

- A couple looking into the camera, looking at each other, maybe kissing...
- 2 friends hugging
- A WANTED poster
- A person reading a newspaper
- A man or woman making faces
- A pet wagging it's tail

Please surprise us. We would love to see your MagicPortraits.

Known Limitations:

YouTube
Please note that YouTube does not allow multiple uploads of the same video, so if you want to share your MagicPortrait you should CC everybody you want to send it to. You can also forward a copy of the email that was received (you receive a copy by default).

Looping
Some email applications support embedded looped videos others don't. We have no control over that. However, the link provided in the email message will work in almost any web browser, thus displaying the MagicPortrait as intended.

Size and Bandwidth Limitations:
Since video files are very large in size we had to limit the quality settings and do currently not allow YouTube uploads via 3G.

20 Second Limit
While the input video can be any size there is a 20 second limit for the trimmed selection. The recording of videos is also limited to 20 seconds.

Keep in mind that this is the first version of MagicPortraits. We will add features based on user demand.
