Lots of choices and I will read it again But there is no ending and to the author keep up with whatever your doing because it’s working 👍 ### 4/5 — A few bugs *2018-03-16, version 1.0.0* Absolutely brilliant so far! Well written story and a variety of options! My only problem is occasionally I come across something like "page_break" or an m at the end of a word. ### 3/5 — Room for improvement *2018-02-13, version 1.0.0* I love the story around the game as well as most other choice games, but there are grievances I have. One problem I have is that I would like to see an option to restart from the beginning of a chapter instead of having to restart the entire game after messing up a choice I didn’t enjoy. The second issue is that when I try and type the locations into the fill in the blank slot it won’t work even though I’m absolutely positive I’m using the right locations. If these were added/fixed then this would be 5 stars. ### 3/5 — Childish *2017-01-03, version 1.0.0* Overall the writing isn't too great, of course I appreciate the effort and time put into this seeing as long as it is, I just can't keep reading with the characters who act like kids. Seriously no adult would act the way they do, especially not in the military. Please fix it ### 3/5 — Fun, but... *2016-04-16, version 1.0.0* Honestly, I'm conflicted. I suppose I'll start with the good. It was quite a long story, well written (for the most part, but I'll get onto that later), and the characters had quite a lot of depth. Now onto the bad. Good god the grammatical errors. It was hilarious at first, but then it became a bit grating. The spelling was also off at times. While the characters had depth, they ended up falling completely flat. And let's not forget the near pointless stats. I say "near" because they only really affected a select few choices. And if you use magic, you can bypass most of them with ease. You can honestly tell that the author did too much and wanted a neat little bow to wrap it up in. Heck, they even admitted that they wanted it to be over and done with so they could move on to another project. However, that completely backfired. The ending, if you can even call it that, was a rather terrible cliffhanger that will never be resolved. According to the author anyways. Talk about anticlimactic... It severely disappointed me as, up until that point, I put aside all of the negative feelings I felt because the story drew me in THAT much. I'm not going to lie, I had a blast! But at the same time... I can't support someone just throwing away something with that much potential. It's a real shame to see such a fantastic universe go right down the drain... And hey, author, if you bother reading these things please reconsider going back to the Magikiras universe... Please. You can do so much better than that. The ending was more like a slap in the face than a resolution. Actually, I take that back. It WAS a slap in the face. You may think that it was fine and dandy, but let me tell you something: you're wrong. You have a lot of skill, and your potential is virtually limitless! But you copped out and wrote out an ending that is, quite frankly, utter BS. You made something so great... And then you took a big dump all over it... Please. Please. Please.... Bring it back. I know you would make a lot of people happy if you did. And if you can pump out a story interesting as this, then you can sure as heck make a sequel. Though I gave it a three star rating, try it out for yourself. Honestly, buy it. If you can get past the poor grammar and spelling errors, you'll really enjoy the story. Up until the end anyways... But even then, it's up to you. All in all, a fun and relatively well written game that ends up falling flat on its face... A great and long story that has me hooked! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Horrible Ending *2018-08-26, version 1.0.2* This game/story is horrible and the worst I have played. I love these types of games. One of the reasons is you can never fail them, because it is about the story and the consequences of your actions. So even if your character dies I don’t consider it a fail. This game changed all of that. If you don’t make the right choices then the game will abruptly end, with a message from the author saying you did not make the right choices to continue the story. I have never seen this before in a choose your own adventure game. My issue is not that the game ended early, that would be fine if the ending was a story-based ending and not a message from the author about how I messed up and how proud of their own work they are. I wanted a story ending, even a bad one is better than a 4th wall breaking “game try again from the beginning.” This is like the Mass Effect trilogy, fun to play but man is that ending terrible. ### 1/5 — Magikiras *2018-04-09, version 1.0.0* I have played many games of this type and I have to say this game is terrible. First the grammar issues which are funny in the beginning but get annoying really quick when you have to reread a paragraph to understand what they are saying. Second and by far worse getting to a point in the game that FORCES you to start over from the beginning if you didn’t do things a certain way a great way to waste hours of my time. Third how often you have to rely on magic to get through encounters as your stats are so low you fall that pretty much everything. There are many better games like this out there save your money. ### 1/5 — Peeved *2016-10-31, version 1.0.0* Will not let me buy full game, I can buy any of the other choice of games, but this one won't let me buy. I love all of the games I've played pretty much all of them, started when choice of Dragon first came out. Spoiler, you can't even finish it without meeting ridiculous standards. I paid good money for a game I couldn't finish! I want a refund. Plus you're always hurt and about to die. Just terrible. ### 1/5 — Idiotic and Annoying *2016-03-12, version 1.0.0* As excited as I usually am by these, I happened to want to do something this time that I've never done before: play my text-only-no-media game with some gentle classical music playing in the background. Reasonable? Apparently not. Launching or task-switching to the game stops the music player. Idiotic! If ingame audio conflicted with the music player, got it: ingame wins if I'm choosing to play the game. But since there is no ingame audio.... A frustrating experience. I've no idea whether other Choice of Games products do the same, but it's kind of a no-brainier to not interfere with the music app. Not what I want in a game, sorry. ### 2/5 — Kinda irritating *2016-05-28, version 1.0.0* I was really enjoying this story and I think I made it to the end, only to get a page that said, "Sorry, this is it and I don't plan on making more of this story." And it ends very suddenly and stupidly. I want my money back. Don't buy this game. ### 2/5 — Have not been this disappointed in a CYOA in awhile *2016-04-05, version 1.0.0* So let's get the good things out of the way, the game is long, fair amount of choice AND a major branching path. And now on to the bad. Writing can be wonky at times, lot of the stats feel pointless, and the ending is an abomination. It feels like the the author meant for it to go on for a bit longer but then they just end it on one of the worst cliffhangers I have ever encountered, and then the author makes a statement saying they won't ever be coming back to this setting. That ending makes it that I can not in good faith recommend this game. Go check out Sabers of Infinity, Way Walkers, The Lost Heir or any other number of CYOA games instead. ### 2/5 — Good game, terrible ending *2016-03-12, version 1.0.0* The story itself in this game/book is actually quite good and engaging but near the end the quality drops off significantly. During the climax the game ends so abruptly and outright announces that there will be no conclusion or sequel. I'm annoyed I paid $7 for an app that started out well and then finished with a half-assed cop-out ending. I would so love to have a sequel to this game. While I enjoyed every moment the ending was a bit boring to be honest. But still 5/5 for this game ---spoiler alert--- I really would like a squeal and to see more of Morgan. I chose to romance her and I really want to see more of her. Like can we get her back? Will we finally put her out of her misery? Mainly I want to see more of her showing her affectionate side from time to time until finally a cute, sweet, tear jerker death or to have her back on our side as herself again. I loved playing/reading it. My suggestions are that firstly you lower or get rid of the purchase that has to be made to continue the game. My second suggestion is that there should be a chapter replay option at the end of each chapter or once you have finished the game be able to go back and replay any chapter of the story instead of having to restart the whole story, this would be good for any games that have chapters and checkpoints. My third suggestion is to lower the difficulty on some of the puzzles. Lastly and your gonna hate for this but a part 2 would be great. All in all great game and I recommend to anyone who likes these types of games. I've played this to completion at least ten times and haven't even come close to getting any of them! Even knowing what they are didn't help and I am not to keen on looking it up. Character development for npc's and the player is fantastic, and the story is extremely addicting. However, there are several grammar issues.
