Not sure how it is working for some, but I am deleting and moving on ### 1/5 — Detect Iron *2025-11-19, version 1.3.1* iPhone 15 pro, IOS 18.7.1, The App detect iron. No more and no less. Test with tweezer and compass, compass is quiet, App show magnetized. App is useless. And yes, calibrate and recalibrate... ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-03-10* All it does is repeatedly come up “Recalibrate” when you press the “Calibrate” function. After 4-5 attempts, got bored and deleted app. **Developer response:** Sorry for you disappointment! Unfortunately we can't force users to read clearly provided instructions on how to calibrate properly (you can't move device during calibration or after). ### 1/5 — Fake *2024-10-23* Put anything metal next to that blinking dot, and it will register it “magnetized”. This is extremely wrong and inaccurate waste of time **Developer response:** The app is measuring magnetism very precisely. Any ferrous material is magnetised, the question is - how much. The sensor is sensitive enough to read the Earths magnetism (that's how compass on iPhone works), so if you put anything ferrous near sensor - yes, it will sense it and it will sense if from far apart. That's why app needs calibration - to measure the background electromagnetic field and be able to compensate for that. If you read instructions carefully you know that you need to place the watch 0,5 inches away from the sensor to get correct readings (and see the threshold where watch is considered magnetised too much). If interested, you can buy me a coffee in the app, that will enable toggle for entering into "Bells and whistles mode" where you can see different actual measurements in microteslas for all three dimensional axes from which the electromagnetic field strength is being calculated. I hope you will revise your rating after this. ### 1/5 — A total waste of time *2024-07-17* This will not calibrate on an iPhone 15 pro max so don’t waste your time **Developer response:** Did you followed instructions and placed it stationary during calibration? According to analytics most users don’t have any issues calibrating with iPhone 15 Pro Max. ### 2/5 — Misleading *2024-10-20* I would caution how you use this app. If you bring ANY ferrous material near the phone’s compass sensor, it will detect magnetism, regardless of if it is magnetized or not. The app measures changes in magnetic field strength, which is not the same as measuring magnetism. It is simply detecting if there is something that affects the magnetic field strength. Even after demagnetizing several small screws, tweezers, and watches, this app detects them as magnetized, even though none of them are. You will get many false positives if you bring a ferrous item in close proximity to the sensor area. ### 5/5 — This app helped me solve my problem *2026-06-04* One of my watches was gaining a fairly good amount of time randomly one morning after traveling for work. To rule out whether I needed to have service performed, I wanted to first check for magnetization. The easy steps provided in the app worked great. I determined my watch was magnetized, bought a demagnetizer, verified it was no longer charged on the app after demagnetizing, and now the watch is back to running at -1/-1.5 seconds per day. After calibration, put your watch close to the bottom half of the phone’s screen. I tried it with my Hamilton and Luminox watches and they weren’t magnetised. But when I tried with my Citizen titanium watch, the app showed it was slightly magnetised. I then brought a strong magnet close to the phone and the app detected strong magnetism from 30cm away. ### 5/5 — Brilliant *2025-08-19* I think this may be the perfect app for detecting magnetism is watches. The fact that it can be calibrated for accuracy makes it a slam dunk. If you understand that almost all ferrous metals contain some level of magnetism, due to the magnetic domains in the metal, then you understand why this app is so powerful. ### 5/5 — Very Useful - Works Great *2025-08-15* Really can’t understand some of the negative reviews on this App. Was concerned that my watch had become magnetised and after learning of this App dowloaded it. It indicated that the watch was magnetised so used a demagnetiser you can buy quite cheaply on the Internet. In checking the watch again the App showed it was no longer magnetised. Have subsequently tested it with other metal items and this App really does work.
