MagStud Pro is a wall scan workbench for planning mounting and renovation work with your device magnetometer. Run magnetic sweeps, compare signal strength, review wall heat maps, estimate repeated spacing, plan drill zones, and keep scan notes for each project. MagStud Pro is designed as a planning aid, not a safety guarantee. Always verify walls with appropriate tools and avoid drilling where electrical, plumbing, gas, or other hidden hazards may be present. No account is required. No ads, subscriptions, or analytics SDKs are included. ## Version history (last 5 releases) ### 2.1 — 2026-08-21 Wall Evidence is a new Pro tool for repeat-pass wall surveys. Score peak repeatability and survey confidence, compare a baseline against a what-if scenario, import pass-measurement CSV, and export a no-drill brief as text or PDF. Records stay on this device. Sweep now shows the named sensitivity profile next to the live threshold. Open Wall Evidence from Pro Tools or Settings. ### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-26 This update sharpens the interface: the iPad layout now uses a centered, comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge, plus small display fixes. iPhone is unchanged. ### 2.0 — 2026-06-21 MagStud Pro 2.0 — a pro upgrade for the magnetometer toolkit, still 100% offline. New Pro Hub gathers everything: • Figure-8 calibration with hard-iron baseline zeroing for cleaner reads. • Stud center & width: edge-pair detection finds the true middle of a stud, not just an edge. • On-center spacing assistant: mark a stud and it projects every stud across the wall at 16" or 24", with on-layout / off-layout grading. • Bubble level & plumb from the accelerometer for straight mounting marks. • 60 Hz AC field analyzer with a live FFT spectrum (vDSP) to spot live wires. • Compass (magnetic + true), relative depth meter, and scan-session logging with a PDF report. • Named sensitivity profiles (Surface, Standard, Deep Wall, Maximum) that retune every detector at once. No account, no network — everything stays on your device. ### 1.3 — 2026-06-20 MagStud Pro - What's New Version 1.3 Stud Sketch (new Pro tool) - after marking stud peaks during a scan, open Stud Sketch to see a scale wall diagram with every stud center labeled in inches from the wall's left edge. Gap distances between studs are annotated automatically. Tap Render to export a crisp PNG you can share with a contractor, save to Files, or print - exactly the document you need when mounting a TV, running shelves, or planning a renovation. Heatmap PNG Export - the Wall Heatmap tab now has a Save Map button. One tap renders the full 128 grid as a 1200 900 px PNG with each cell's peak µT value printed inside, plus the session peak and hot-cell count. Share it with the same iOS share sheet as the rest of the app. Version 1.2 Framing Reference - an offline IRC 2024 guide to wall framing standards (16, 19.2, 24, and 12 in. o.c.), actual lumber dimensions, joist spacings, and safety notes.
