## What is Mahjboard?

Mahjboard runs the busywork of your mahjong league—table seating, session pacing, scorekeeping, and standings—so you can run the league, not the spreadsheet. It's simple on purpose: one score per player, one link for the entire season, zero formulas, and nothing for your players to install. Any style works: American mah jongg (NMJL), Riichi, Hong Kong, house rules. Start a league, import your roster from a spreadsheet or paste a list of names, and you're ready for league night.

Before the games begin, one tap builds the night's tables. Mahjboard remembers who's already played together and mixes each session's pairings for variety, or groups tables by skill level. Move anyone, sit a player out, reshuffle, or undo. Name a table "Cream bakelite set" and it stays that way week to week.

During play, the session timer keeps everyone on time. Tell Mahjboard when the night starts, how long it runs, and how many games to aim for. It splits the time evenly, nudges you and your Apple Watch at each checkpoint, and keeps the countdown on your lock screen. Open the league near game time and it offers to start the clock for you.

Scorekeeping is the easy part. Tap the evening's scores in, or let them come to you. Players can submit their own, and one submission can cover the whole table. Every score waits for your approval before it counts, and you can approve or reject it right from the notification. Mark who attended, and Mahjboard instantly ranks the cumulative leaderboard, so nobody has to wonder where they stand.

Every league gets its own public page to share by text or QR code. Players just tap and the live board opens. No app to install, no account, no password, and nothing for them to pay. They can look themselves up and see their weekly scores all season long. One subscription covers your entire league.

Make it yours. Add your logo, colors, and website once, and every league and leaderboard you run wears them. Save the standings as a branded image for Instagram or the group chat. If you host at a lounge, studio, or shop, the board points players right back to you.

### 2026.8 — 2026-08-19

Mahjboard has grown a lot since your last update.

Give your league a real schedule. Set your nights, time, and season length to let Mahjboard date every session, including leagues that meet more than once a week. Move or skip a night without disturbing the rest.

Scoring and seating are more flexible. The Scores tab shows your whole season in one list, so you can open and start scoring a future session instead of waiting your turn. Each session shows how many players attended right underneath it, updating live as you enter or clear scores. And seating no longer locks once a session has its first score, so you can reopen and rearrange the chart any time in the night for a player who swapped seats, arrived late, or needs to balance a table, with entered scores left exactly as they were.

New in Mahjboard Pro: RSVPs. Give every player a personal link, no login or app install required. Mahjboard assumes everyone is coming, so the only thing a player has to do is tap "I can't make it," with an easy undo if plans change again. A player who is out moves to Sitting Out on that session's seating chart right away, and the page carries your league's own colors and logo.

New in Mahjboard Pro: email reminders. Send a session's RSVP reminder on demand, or schedule it automatically up to six days ahead. Once seating is set, email every player their table too. A Recipients page shows exactly who will get a send and who won't before you send it, and sending again only reaches the people the last send missed.

New in Mahjboard Pro: SMS announcements. Send a group text to your whole league without handing out your own number. Messages go out from your league's dedicated number and arrive signed with your league name, and a usage meter keeps you ahead of your monthly budget.

New in Mahjboard Pro: a custom domain. Serve your public leaderboard from your own domain instead of a mahjboard.com address, set up from the website you already added in Branding.

Mahjboard has grown a lot since your last update. Here's everything new for organizers.

Mark everyone who sat out absent in one tap. A button under "Not Seated" marks every unseated player absent at once instead of tapping through them one by one. It skips anyone with a score or a pending self-entry already, and every cell stays editable afterward.

Start next season in one tap. Starting the next season copies your players, tags, skill levels, score-entry settings, seating preference, pacing timer, and your league's look into a brand-new league with its own public code and empty sessions. Table pairings reset for full variety, and the league you copied stays exactly as it was.

Your board celebrates the finish. Once every session has scores in, the public leaderboard leads with a season recap: the champion (or co-champions, for a tie) plus superlatives like best attendance and the biggest single week. Share cards get a matching final-results version.

Mahjboard now has a home-screen widget. The small size keeps one league in view: its name, how far into the season you are, or the top three places. The medium size is a launcher, putting Score Entry, the Pacing Timer, Seating, and Share one tap from your home screen.

Players can report no-shows at their table. Whoever's submitting scores can mark an empty seat "Didn't attend" instead of typing a number, and the rest of the table submits as normal. That seat reads Absent when you review it, in the scores grid and the approval notification.

Drop each player's worst week. A new Scoring switch in League Settings excludes each player's lowest session from their total, so one off night doesn't decide a season. The dropped week is marked "(Dropped)" and struck through on the public board. Off by default.

Score entry has its own keypad. Tap a score and a keypad rises from the bottom instead of a panel covering the grid. The player's row lights up, digits land right in the row as you type, and Next walks you through the roster without looking up.

Players stay in the loop on their own scores. The public board tells a player whether their submitted score is still pending or accepted. A new League settings control also lets you open or close a week for player entry.

Try a guided sample night before you subscribe. Signing in comes first, and your free trial starts when you subscribe, not when you sign up. "Run a sample night" walks you through a full game night on a ready-made roster: look over the night's tables, watch a table's scores arrive and approve them, and run the pacing clock. It closes on a "That's a wrap" screen with confetti and three ways to go: start your free trial, replay the sample night, or read on about what you get.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-17

Import a whole season, or just your roster, from a spreadsheet. On the Players tab, pick "Import from CSV" to bring in a list of names, or import a full scoreboard (players and their scores across sessions) in one pass, whether it's an edited Mahjboard export or a season you tracked elsewhere. The import reads real-world spreadsheets, not just Mahjboard's own layout. It finds the names and scores wherever they live, handles separate First and Last name columns, and tolerates the stray commas exports add. Prefer to type or paste? A new Paste option takes a plain list, one name per line.

Approve scores right from the notification. When a player submits a score, the alert now carries Approve and Reject buttons (Face ID or your passcode confirms), so you can clear the review queue without opening the app.

Label your tables. Give any table an optional note, like "Cream bakelite set" or "Travel mat," that shows in the seating editor, on the public seating chart, and in the table picker when players enter their own scores. It sticks with the table number week to week.

Edit several players at once. Press and hold a player and choose Select to pick a group, then set a skill level or add and remove tags across the whole selection.

Set a start time and Mahjboard runs the clock. Give a league a start time and the days it meets, and opening it near game time offers to schedule the pacing timer for you. The clock is anchored to the real start time, so arrive early and the lock screen counts down to it, arrive late and it picks up mid-game where it should be. Session length and game count now live in league settings too.

Keep a private note on any player. Each player now has an optional note field that only you ever see. It never appears on the public board or on a share card, and it comes along in your data export.

See a player's scores at a glance. A player's detail sheet now lists what they scored each session, week by week, with clear absent and not-yet-entered states.

Less retyping when you set up a league. Creating a league now suggests the cities and venues you've used before, and a brand-new league starts pre-filled with your most recent league's city and venue.

A proper Apple Watch card for the timer. The pacing timer's Smart Stack card is now built for the watch, with league name, session and game, and minutes left on a color-coded progress bar.

Easier to read for everyone. The public leaderboard now meets accessibility contrast standards throughout, and keyboard focus is clearly visible on every control.

Save your leaderboard as an image. The Share sheet saves your branded standings card straight to your photo library, and the Instagram button shares it as a Story. The saved photo follows your board's style and no longer prints the board's web address, so it's clean to post with your own caption. Link previews now match your board's style and show your logo, too.
