## What is Mahjong Board Game?

Mahjong is a tile-based game that was developed in China during the Qing dynasty and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is commonly played by four players (with some three-player variations found in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia). The game and its regional variants are widely played throughout Eastern and South Eastern Asia and have also become popular in Western countries. The game has also been adapted into a widespread online entertainment. Similar to the Western card game rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation, and it involves a degree of chance.

The game is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols, although some regional variations may omit some tiles or add unique ones. In most variations, each player begins by receiving 13 tiles. In turn players draw and discard tiles until they complete a legal hand using the 14th drawn tile to form four melds (or sets) and a pair (eye). A player can also win with a small class of special hands. There are fairly standard rules about how a piece is drawn, how a piece is robbed from another player, the use of simples (numbered tiles) and Honors (winds and dragons), the kinds of melds allowed, how to deal the tiles and the order of play. Despite these similarities, there are many regional variations to the rules including rather different scoring systems, criteria for legal winning hands, and even private table rules which distinguish some variations as notably different styles of mahjong.

### 4/5 — Enjoying but a Wonder Why

This has been the first Mahjong game that has allowed me to see what it is like. Obviously I’m new to the game. But you let me win every once and awhile.  However, I’ve noticed that when I have a winning hand, you require me to drop instead of declaring Mahjong. Of course, if I drop I no longer have the Mahjong. Please fix this because I want to continue playing your app. Either allow the game to recognize a winning hand or put a button on the board that allows the player to Mahjong. Thanks for your efforts.  Also every once in a while the player is offered a pung or chow but when tapped, it is not recognized and nothing is credited.

Hi Mahjong players! Thank you for playing this game, I hope that you enjoy it! I continue working on How to Play section. It is not visible to you yet but you can use several parts of it. With the last update I added tiles list and ability to show tile hints during the game if you're not familiar with tiles symbols. And with this update you'll get scores list for all three Rules systems available in the app. There are more than 100 different scoring elements in Mahjong so there were a lot of paper work to move it from game logic to UI where you can see it. Hope that it will help you to gather better hands :)

As with tiles Scores are available on game screen by tapping Info button.

This Mahjong app is rather young, it is only one week old but I try to update it as frequently as possible to make the best Mahjong gaming experience ever. Some updates for not very experienced players:
- Added list of all tiles
- Added hint label to tiles, so that you will see what symbols you have (and other tiles too, but it is most useful for symbols). You can view tiles list and switch tile hints on and off right during the game by pressing Info button.

Hi Mahjong players! This is the first significant update for Mahjong Challenge where you can find one new Rules System adopted by this app. Welcome Zung Jung Rules!

It was interesting to implement this kind of Rules and I think for the next days it will be my favourite Rules System. It is simple as Classical, it is pattern-based as Competition and it is funny! Tell me if you already played Zung Jung? Or maybe you have your favourite Rules System which is not in this app yet? Please tell me about it in Send Feedback section on start screen.
