### 3/5 — No British Rules

*2019-11-28*

Thought that this would help as we learn Mahjong but sadly doesn’t seem to include the British Standard scoring system, also seems a bit buggy on the iPad but has potential to be good.

### 1/5 — Nach update

*2019-02-21*

leider nicht mehr zu gebrauchen. Hand scorer funktioniert nicht mehr.

**Developer response:** Entschuldigung für das Problem! Das neueste Update sollte das Problem beheben / Very sorry for the problem! The latest update should fix the issue.

### 4/5 — Excellent For Riichi

*2016-01-10*

This app is terrific for keeping score in Riichi Mahjong. I can understand being skeptical about paying for an app that does something as complicated and esoteric as scoring mahjong, but this app really nails it. The interface can be a little tricky, and you need to explore a bit to figure out exactly what to do, but otherwise it's perfect. You can enter what tiles were in your hand and it will be scored for you automatically. There's also a summary page that shows you the breakdown of how both the han and fu of your hand were calculated. And if that's not your thing, you can always just manually enter the amounts. The app is designed to track a whole Han-Chan and keeps track of everything from missed Riichi points to the current bonus round. There are also settings for some optional rules like forbidding open Tanyao. All in all, a really good app that covers everything, explains everything, and just works. Well worth a measly two bucks.

### 1/5 — Terrible calculator

*2015-10-10*

It is very slow calculator because you need to do everything by your own hands. Do not buy it

### 3/5 — Missing features I wanted

*2015-05-31*

The hand scorer doesn't recognize a lot of limit hands and won't allow nonstandard hands (all pairs, 13 orphans, etc) to be entered. Still a useful little app, though.

### 4/5 — Awesome!

*2015-01-08*

As a new Riichi player trying to get their head around the complicated scoring rules, this app is amazing and does exactly what I need in my games. The only reason I don't give five stars is some really annoying UI lag (between clicking a button and the app reacting is about a second delay)

In any case, thanks to the dev!

### 4/5 — Good choice

*2013-11-24*

Nicely done app, which is a great help, esp. for MJ beginners. Only four stars, as I am not sure if all special points are catched in a right way (concealed MJ counts two doubles instead of 20 points in european MJ?). Moreover me and my wife play lots of two player MJ, so we'd appreciate a two player only scoring feature as well. Anyway thanks for this great tool!

### 3/5 — Von wegen Deutsch!

*2013-01-25*

### 3/5 — Does not work well with japanese rules

*2012-02-13*

Hard to pick tiles for hand on iPhone, does not have wide mode.

chinese calls. (not Chii, kan, pon, Ron).

Does cannot edit once you enter next round.

### 4/5 — Cool App... but

*2011-12-29*

For the Japanese Scoring, there is no faint dora text in the concealed or exposed areas. Please fix this, as that really affects the score on many occasions.

*** I see how to do dora now... ug.. not that intuitive. You have to tap on the tile that is on the board. I like how that works, but it could be much more intuitively designed.

That said:
This is a great App... This will allow me to play and teach how to play Mahjong. Thanks. Well worth the $1.99 and then some. There really is an App for everything.

### 4/5 — Nice App for scoring

*2011-10-11*

I like this app for scoring the european rules Mahjong.

But there seems to be a slight bug in the scoring conditions... the winner always gets 2 point for "going out on a pair", even when thats not the case. The app won't let you change this, sometimes it gets stuck on "drew winning tile", and the same thing happens, cannot change the condtion because it is not active. Hopefully there will be a update soon to fix this , otherwise I would reeommend this app highly.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scoring Hand Screen Error

*2026-06-01*

When scoring hands it doesn’t show any tiles

### 1/5 — Non functional

*2025-08-03*

In 2025 this app does not seem to work. It’s impossible to record mahjong hands and score them. It’s unusable.

### 1/5 — Nul

*2025-07-31*

On ne peut pas l’utiliser. Arnaque!!!!

### 1/5 — Never got to use it

*2025-01-04*

There's a bug. You can't see the tiles and it was very hard to figure out. Not common sense or obvious UI at all. Mad I spent a dollar for the 3 min I tried it

### 1/5 — Zählhilfe funktioniert nicht

*2023-06-03*

Man kann zwar einmal die Zählhilfe benutzen, doch leider wird diese auf alle Namen übertragen. Ein Eintragen der individuellen Spielergebnisse funktioniert nicht.

### 1/5 — Dont like it

*2022-04-11*

When selecting players front eu drop down the first name is mostly obscured making it very difficult to select.

As for usability I have no idea how to move to the next player to enter their hand. As above I can change between players but that is making those tiles appear on each player.

### 1/5 — Great idea but

*2021-11-29*

So we have all tried to use this app to no avail. Just does not work

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for me in IOS

*2021-11-05*

Using the European version, after sending the score, the tiles for player 1 also appear for player 2. There doesn’t seem to be a way of personalising each players set of tiles.

### 1/5 — iPhone user, app doesn’t work for me

*2020-05-03*

Downloaded the app and wasn’t able to input any tiles down to score.

### 1/5 — Ne fonctionne pas

*2019-11-08*

Ne fonctionne sur iPad Pro

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Trouble with marking who the person was that provided the discard tile!

*2023-09-18*

I really like this app! It works well for what I am able to do with it. But I can’t seem to be able to assign the discard person in the hand score area! What am I doing wrong or not doing right!

### 5/5 — Well worth the download!

*2022-12-26*

I’ve been playing Mahjong for years, but calculating hand scores has always been my weak suit. This app takes that stress away. Highly recommended for any serious Mahjong players!

### 5/5 — Great helper app for Riichi

*2021-12-28*

Very useful app. A bit confusing at times but otherwise exactly what I needed.

Some small issues specifically for Riichi:
The score in the hand scorer section is not that clear as to how it works (especially for dealer tsumo)
No ability to pull from the table using Han and Fu (i have to build the hand in the hand scorer to do automatic score distribution, would like to be on the score sheet and specify Han and fu instead)
You need to go to the score sheet to set the difference between Ron and Tsumo (would be nice to also be able to do it in the hand scorer)
The table values in percentages are a bit confusing as most Riichi players would use Mangan, Haneman etc

### 5/5 — Thank you!!!

*2020-01-06*

Very good calculator! Thank you very much! I started to play this amazing game with your apps (calc & the actual game)! Please continue to support them.

### 5/5 — Elegantly created App

*2014-01-02*

THANK YOU for creating this tool.

I too used to love playing Mah Jong with my sister and grandparents during school holidays
when I was little, (so young, that to begin with, our favourite part was knocking down and rebuilding the wall) but the knowledge of correct scoring unfortunately has disappeared as my grandparents have aged.

I have tried to learn and play as an adult and hope to use this tool more as an aid to double check my scoring as I learn rather than to replace learning how to score.

Very elegant, user friendly app, does what is says on the box.

### 5/5 — Update!

*2013-09-30*

It was great at first but now I can't scroll down and can't choose the tiles for the winning hand plz update😢

### 5/5 — Simply perfect

*2011-08-24*

This is something that all players of this game should have. Makes things so much easier :)

### 5/5 — Most helpful and in English too!

*2011-06-07*

I'm so excited to have found this app and one that functions exactly as I'd hopped.

I've been trying to learn mahjong scoring for a few months now while playing mahjong with my friends, to whom I introduced mahjong. It has become extremely frustrating to compute the points of each winning hand by constantly checking score charts. This app has allowed my friends and I to fully enjoy the game, while trying to keep to the heart of the scoring system, rather than track hands won.

The hand scorer function has a very intuitive interface and quickly computed the total score for each hand. You can then pass the score over to the game tracker which enables point exchanges between players in app. The prevailing and round winds are tracked and accounted for during scoring and point exchange.

I have found web apps and software that manages these same functions but having the app on my iPhone 4 and Ipad allows me to keep the game space clutter free without the worry of Internet access.

I would suggest an option in a future release to train score computation with guidance from the software and maybe hand scoring drills.

### 4/5 — great app, absolutely worth the price.

*2020-11-26*

I am a bit skeptical when it comes to apps that charge for things that are commonly free but this app does something a lot of online apps don’t do: it keeps score.

it is also very intuitive once you get the hang of it. but getting the hang of it can take some experimentation so please be warned.

The only issue I have is that it does not have an option to take into account double yakuman in riichi.

### 4/5 — Great App with a few errors

*2019-03-25*

App works well and is easy and intuitive to use. There are a few errors in the HK score set, such as an all pung hand should be 3 fan.

Hope these are corrected in the future. I’ve been just adding flowers to “correct” it at this point.

**Developer response:** Hi; it seems there are various different scoring tables for Hong Kong mahjong - I was working from one set. The latest update adds a toggle to the "Match Settings" that let you choose between 2 or 3 faan for the "All Pungs" and "Half Flush" hands. I hope that helps (email if there's something else?). :)
Thanks for using my app!
