Far superior to my previous method which was to look up each individual word in a German-English dictionary ### 5/5 — Very helpful! *2012-09-22, version 1.3.3* Now if I can just convince the Maestro that I'm looking up translations, and not texting during rehearsal! ### 5/5 — Good stuff! *2012-07-18, version 1.3.1* Great! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 2/5 — i just have one problem *2025-03-28, version 2.4.1* im in the minority! so dont take my words too seriously. i love the idea of this app! every note and guidance mahler has to offer and translated? thats genius! and think of how much time each translation had to take. i can that tell so much effort was put into this. and my one problem isnt even really the developers fault. my ONE problem is that all of these words are kinda meaningless without any context behind them. yes! it is a beautiful thing to read mahler’s interpretation of his own work! but which work? you can buy the translations to different symphonies! but i doubt that will solve this problem completely. i keep calling this a “problem” but maybe i just wrongly expected something different? anyway im getting off on a tangent and you get it and want me to shut up. contest me! tell me im wrong! i would love to have my mind changed. ### 2/5 — Good but not exhaustive *2011-08-25, version 1.01* Got this app to check phrases in 2nd symphony: Nicht theilen Gestrichen Geschlagen And that's just on the 3rd page... None of the above are listed. So an update would be useful. Also I paid 2 quid whereas the last reviewer paid 59p. Feel if you're going to do a specific Mahler translations app it might as well do them all. The geschlagen one in particular crops up a lot and conductors never really seem to be clear on it. ### 4/5 — Great app *2020-03-05, version 2.2* This is a great app, but a few small things I would like to see... -it would be great if the words you type in were a different color other than white— it makes it hard to see what words I’m typing in -Sometimes, not often, the app will not load any words when I type one in: this happens with exact grammar too. It gives you MUSICAL translations not normal word-word dictionary translations! I like how it allows you to look for a word/phrase alphabetically, like in "contacts", rather than having to type in each letter. ### 4/5 — Good but some work needed *2010-07-22, version 0* As a student conductor, I'm currently learning all the Mahler Symphonies. The veritable tomes of German that Mahler writes means it takes time to translate so how great it is to see that for a mere £0.59, I can get over 400 of these translations on my phone!! It is quick and easy to use and all-in-all a great product. However, it could be a little more thorough - for example, there is no translation for a phrase in Symphony No. 1 - "Die Recken sind an dieser Stelle an der grossen Trommel anzuhängen und Becken- und Trommelstimme sind von einem und demselben Musiker zu schlagen" - a phrase that's hard to find translations for on the internet. If this application was a little more thorough, it would be an unquestionable 5 star rating. There's a lot of potential here! ### 5/5 — Wo ist geil? *2020-09-24, version 2.3* It means horny.
