## What is Maikan?

Maikan is a video editor for turning your family clips into one vlog.

Pick clips, trim, add text, clean up the sound, and export. Everything happens on a single timeline, so you can go from start to finish without getting lost. Turn your weekend memories into a finished video the same day.

■ Your media never leaves your iPhone
All video, photo and audio processing happens on the device. There is no account, and no analytics, ads or tracking. Edit videos of your kids with peace of mind.

■ One-screen timeline
・Arrange clips, text and music on one timeline
・Trim, split, reorder and delete. Set lengths to 0.1 seconds
・Add photos too, and choose how long they show
・Sort everything by capture date, oldest or newest first
・Shrink the whole video to 30 sec, 1, 3 or 5 min as a first draft
・Undo and redo

■ Titles and captions
・30 fonts and 23 text styles: outlines, shadows, bands, markers and more
・12 in/out animations such as pop, zoom and spin, plus gentle looping motions
・Auto captions: speech is recognized on the device and added as editable text in 10 languages
・Add capture dates in one tap, and save your favorite text layouts as templates

■ Hide faces
Find faces in the video, hide them with blur, mosaic or a sticker, and follow them as they move. Face detection also runs on the device.

■ Stickers and transitions
・444 stickers
・14 transitions including dissolve, fade, zoom, wipe and slide, previewed with your own footage

■ Clean up the sound
・Noise reduction per clip (low, medium, high) with A/B comparison
・Per-clip volume and speed (0.5× to 10×, voice pitch preserved)
・Background music by section, with volume, fades and automatic ducking under speech
・Fade out at the end of the video

■ Ready for social
・9:16 vertical, 1:1 and 16:9
・Make a cover from any frame of your video
・Export in 1080p / 4K, 30 / 60 fps, H.264 / HEVC, and save to Photos

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-20

■ Text designs
Apply a font, color, decoration and animation all at once with a single tap. Choose from six: Comic, Nailed It!, Rise & Fade, Gold Sparkle, Celebrate and Hubbub. Find them at the top of the text Style panel.

■ Text presets
Save up to three combinations of font, size, color, decoration, alignment and position, and apply one to the selected text in a single tap.

■ Editing
・Delete and Duplicate buttons on the corners of the selected text, sticker, photo or face cover in the preview
・Raise the volume of a clip's original sound and background music up to 1000%. Very loud sound is softened to reduce distortion

■ Fixes
・Fixed an issue in Clean Up Originals where a different video than the one you tapped could be selected

### 1.1 — 2026-10-14

■ Create Automatically
Choose a date range and Maikan gathers the videos you shot during it, puts them in the order you shot them, and makes a draft. Set up finishing touches such as the cover, text, music, transitions and captions in Settings. It keeps working even after you leave the app.

■ Calendar
See your projects on a calendar. Thumbnails appear on the days you shot, and tapping a day lines up that day's projects. You can also start a project from an empty day.

■ Photo overlays
Place photos on top of your video. Change their size, position, animation and frame, and crop them.

■ Text
・More in, out and loop animations, including ones that move letter by letter
・Set in and out durations from 0.1 to 3 seconds
・Line alignment (left, center, right)

■ Editing
・Duplicate text, stickers, photos and face covers
・Insert media at the clip boundary closest to the playhead
・Fit background music to the whole video, or from the playhead to the end, in one tap
・When tracking a moving subject, choose what to track and where to place the item separately

■ Export and storage
・Saved and shared files are named after the project title
・The screen no longer auto-locks while exporting
・When you're done, pick the original videos you used and delete them from your photo library
・New Storage section in Settings: clean up unused media to free up space
