Works great when running drills with friends but the lack of a delay means I can’t use it when I’m alone. I don’t often shoot alone so it’s not a big deal but worth mentioning. Seems like a simple addition to the app to make this a perfect shot timer. ### 4/5 — A great tool for starters! And actually works. *2022-02-09, version 1.4.4* This app is very basic, but that perfect for someone just getting started with shooting. When you get better and start getting serious, then consider a real shot timer. Though the paid version, which is only $10, would honestly work close to as well as a full timer. ### 3/5 — Could Be Perfect For Dry Fire Practice, IF... *2021-08-25, version 1.4.4* I would also like an adjustable delay, but for a different reason. I need a timer app for dry fire practice, and if the start beep could be delayed for either a random or set time of between 1-5 seconds, it would be perfect for me to practice drawing and firing in my home (no ammo). I’m trying to measure my time from starting my draw to firing, against the “clock,” and this one feature would greatly help in setting specific times-to-beat for practice. I realize I could add time (how much?) to the par beep to take into account any time used from hitting the start button until getting into my shooting stance, but then I don’t really know how much time is actually taken to start the timer vs. actually drawing and firing. It will not pick up with or without a snap cap. Sensitivity is set to 100%. Only picks up the shot when I hold my gun 3” from the microphone. I have not yet used with live fire so I can’t comment how that. ### 4/5 — Great for two shooters *2018-10-24, version 1.4.4* I used this timer last week in the Utah desert shooting steel. We never used a timer before and we were performing a draw and fire two shots under 5 seconds drill. It worked great. A couple notes. We were shooting steel and it would pick up the ping from the bullet impact. I decreased the sensitivity and that fixed the issue. Second, I don’t know how this is hands free. The second man not shooting had to operate the timer for the shooter, I did not test with headphones. All in all it’s a good free app. ### 2/5 — Meh *2018-06-24, version 1.4.4* If the buzzer could go off after a bit not as soon as you press the button. Also it don’t work with Bluetooth headphones... so that for me makes it useless at the range. Ok for dry fire... only because I haven’t found anything better. ### 1/5 — Poor Customer Service *2017-11-10, version 1.4.4* I was thinking of upgrading to the $10 version but first wanted to check a couple of things like the very low volume of the beep and its pitch (too high for me as I have high tone loss). Sent two emails with NO RESPONSE. Think I'll save my $10. Their claim it is the iPhone speakers is nonsense as I can hear the speakers from across the room. Not a good app. ### 4/5 — Good but maybe I'm missing something *2017-02-20, version 1.4.4* I really like the simplicity of this app. Maybe I'm not able to figure it out but it would be nice to have a delay setting/s to allow for single person manipulation while training. When I hit start there should an option to count down before the start buzzer sounds so that I can get a good reading on my time from my draw to my first shot. Otherwise great app if there is another person there to hit the start button for the shooter. ### 4/5 — Great App for Free *2016-02-13, version 1.4.2* Good Basic Shot Timer Settings: — Variable start signals (guessing for different hearing issues), — Adjustable mic sensitivity (allow app to access to iPhone’s microphone), — Headphone suggestion can be turned off with Volume Limiter Disabled, — A Start time, or ‘Make Ready’ sound, can be added to strings by adding a Par Time, although your results will show time plus par but your real string time will show in Red under and next to individual shot times. Functional: — BIG Start Button, Results and number of shots fired show in red on the results button — Results page has good lay out, as mentioned above the make ready sound will be included in the overall results, but the string time is noted in red next to the individual shot time. Overall: Great layout, just make sure to allow the app to access the iPhone’s microphone, if you missed this step you can go the iPhones settings, scroll down to Make Ready! icon on turn it on there. ### 1/5 — Missing Start Delay - Useless *2016-02-12, version 1.4.2* I understand that this is the free version of the $10 app. However, the developer should have found a different way to limit functionality. A shot timer that does not have the ability to create a short delay between pushing the start button and the start signal is completely useless for individual training. It can only be used to time the shooter if there is a second person to push the button. The poor judgment in designing this free app makes me reluctant to spend $10 on the pay version (also, I think $10 is way overpriced even for a well-designed shot timer). ### 3/5 — Needs random start *2016-01-23* This concept is great, but it needs the ability to have a random start. If I am training, I can't press 'start' and then draw straight away. I need a random timer to count down a few seconds and then sound the beep so I can draw. Not updated. *2023-06-23* Just went to iOS 16.5.1 and it still instantly crashes, just as the paid for version I LOVED has done since a few OS updates ago. Tried to contact Codemonkey about this, no joy. Would gladly buy the full version again. Perhaps a pox on Apple’s house for not retaining backwards compatibility—for an app last updated only six years ago. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2023-06-19* Downloaded and it crashes every time I open it. Fair enough it is a free app and there aren’t many options, like a delayed / random time beep, but it definitely does what it says on the tin 😊😊😊 and does it accurately. I had no issues with it picking up multi string shots. You can adjust the sensitivity so it doesn’t pick up steel target impacts and confuse them for shots. The delay is under settings. Set the par time for whatever time length you need. I keep it at 5 seconds and will hear the first beep, then 5 seconds go by for the second beep and boom, delayed timer. Your reaction time will be in red along with the splits for each shot after. Several negative reviews mention that it's garbage since it has no delay feature. As a lite app designed to encourage sales of their full version, that's understandable to me. Their paid version seems to do that and so much more. I am glad that I could try it out before I spend the money on the full version.
