I have really enjoyed it as there aren’t many apps that give rebates for the better for you items which are generally more expensive. But over the last month or two I just continue to get an error when trying to use the app. Something about the server cannot be found. I see a few other reviews stating the same thing so they really need to address this. ### 1/5 — App down?? *2025-07-01, version 5.4.5* Has this app folded? For the last cashout, I had to email them after a month of waiting in order to receive it. After I received my cashout, my app just decides to not even open. It says that either my connection appears offline or host server cannot be found. I redownloaded it and still the same. Support is no help! New complaint (06/26/2025): The app won’t even let me sign in without producing error messages about ‘no network connection’ or ‘a server with a specified connection cannot be found’. I have offloaded, reinstalled, deleted, restarted my phone and reinstalled again. Nothing is working! ### 1/5 — Same experience *2025-06-26, version 5.4.5* I have also been with Makeena for years. I contacted them twice about a pending $5 amount that’s been there also for years and never credited. No replies and now my app is magically showing bad url and other errors. I have enough to cash out. Not happy. Stealing money due to us. ### 1/5 — No Gift Card allowed as Payment *2025-06-03, version 5.4.5* This app is a No no. I used only one time. Offer was declined because I used a Gift Card as the payment method. I didn’t see any disclaimer saying that in the offer but after contact customer service they told me to check the FAQ page. I will return the items. My advice keep the receipts till you’re approved. ### 1/5 — No cash back when paying with giftcards *2025-05-30, version 5.4.5* Unfortunately I give it a try to this app. My receipt was declined. To contact customer service I had to write an email (which was replied fast), because the app crashed each time I tried to contact them. Reason that was declined I paid with a Target Gift-card. Weird policy since a gift card is s valid method. Support is no help! ### 1/5 — Used to be a useful app *2025-04-30, version 5.4.5* Customer service has been m.i.a. for months ### 1/5 — Overly Complicated, Cash Out Threshold Too High *2025-04-23, version 5.4.5* This is an app that has been made overly complicated and is therefore difficult to use. Why you have different sections to unlock offers to earn points that add up to rebates and then another area where you have to add items to a shopping list for cash rebates, I have no idea. They need to study more popular apps like Ibotta if they want to increase their customer base. List everything in one place and categorize by item type (dairy, snacks, produce, pantry, etc.) so you can actually find things. Quite frankly, I do not use this app much because it is so time consuming and confusing (and the selection of products is extremely limiting, most only available at Whole Foods or similar). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update the rebate area so you can at least easily sort out those offers you have not yet added to your shopping list so users do not have to look through hundreds of offers to figure out what is “new”. I have had this app for years and it looks exactly the same as it did day 1 and it is just as confusing to use. No updates either, which should tell you something about their customer service and how much technical support they put towards this app. Additionally, having a $20 threshold for cash out on an app with really low dollar value rebates on rarely accessible items is ridiculous! Let your customers have the money they earned for the products they purchased (and the money you earned for promoting them). Seems like something a socially conscious company would do! ### 2/5 — Not really worth using *2025-04-13, version 5.4.5* The rebates are all for organic stuff, and for low amounts like 20 cents. You have to submit your receipt by Sunday at 9 pm PST otherwise the rebates will be gone. Sometimes when I try to submit my receipt, the app crashes. Then when I go back into the app, the rebates I was trying to claim are no longer there. Then I have to e-mail customer support, and they don’t get my e-mail until the following day, so they make the claim that the reason the rebates disappeared is because I submitted it after Sunday at 9pm PST, which is a LIE, which the timestamp of my e-mail proves. I show them my receipt through e-mail, but they still don’t give me credit for the items I bought. Unlike Ibotta, Makeena only allows you to cash out when you’ve reached $20. You can imagine how hard it is to get to $20 when each rebate is only 20 cents. In addition, you can’t cash out to your bank account, it has to be to either Paypal or Venmo. ### 1/5 — No Customer Service *2025-04-03, version 5.4.5* I have been with Makeena for years and enjoyed using the app until it was time to redeem my earned balance to my PayPal!! It’s been 2 months now and still have not received my funds. I have contacted customer service three times with little response!! First I was told it takes 30 days to get my funds? But your app says 10 which is a stretch compared to other apps!! Never received a response to my last two messages. Stay away from this app. ### 2/5 — Could be a good app but is currently complicated *2025-02-13, version 5.4.5* I recently downloaded the Makeena app eager to try it out. I’m always on the lookout for a new rebate app to save money. Of all the apps I have used, this one is the most complicated. You can’t just claim a rebate. You have to complete little tasks and hope it adds up to the full rebate before you can claim it. It’s buggy too with the points. It promises points and sometimes doesn’t deliver. Other apps you just submit your receipt and claim the offer. Doing these extra tasks makes things too complicated. They need to change this and the app could be a top app to use. Please work out the kinks on your app Makeena. A 4.1 rating on Apple Store shows people are frustrated with it. I cashed out in November 2025 and it’s February 2026. I still haven’t got my payment that was supposed to take 10 days to process. My points are on the one they wont let me into ### 1/5 — No longer works *2025-07-27, version 5.4.5* The app is no longer working. ### 1/5 — I think this app closed up shop *2025-07-27, version 5.4.5* Not working for a long time and no signs it ever will ### 1/5 — It’s a slog (and feels like a social experiment) *2025-07-22, version 5.4.5* Ugh, even before the app suddenly stopped working, I always dreaded having to log my purchases on this app. Other rebate apps are able to figure out which items were purchased by using OCR on the receipt text itself. But makeena requires you to physically scan the barcode from each and every single item you purchased. I ended up only ever launching this app to scan the more valuable offers, and left any other items I may have purchased that would have qualified unscanned. It just wasn’t worth it. I mean, I get the concept, loyalty rewards etc, but it’s extremely user unfriendly with the slog of having to scan everything individually. And then they have 2 categories of scanability and sometimes it’ll say you don’t have to scan this item. UGH!!! On top of that, offers are often limited to certain varieties of products, so you have to remember which ones will qualify, and THEN they’ll only allow one item variety per receipt to qualify for an offer. No buying multiples! A rebate app shouldn’t require this much brainpower. The $20 minimum for cashing out is also unkind. It encouraged me to not cash out once I got past $20, because it would have been another uphill struggle to collect another $20. (And now see where this got me. Their app has gone the way of the dodo, and all my frustrating labor has been wasted.). I do seriously think it was a social experiment. How long would it take people to stop using the app if we make it a huge chore? ### 1/5 — False info *2025-07-21, version 5.4.5* On July 13 I submitted a complaint to Makeena about the app not working correctly. Sometime in the past week there was a response posted dated 5 YEARS AGO! Since I just posted it, the response can’t be from 5 years ago. I noticed the same thing on other peoples complaints. The response was so generic too. It says something about a server error with the host. I deleted it and downloaded it again and I still can’t get in. What is going on? I have some money earned and I don’t want to start over.
