## What is Maker Calc Fraction Calculator?

Meet Maker Calc: The Tape Measure Companion.

A measurement calculator for real-time fraction math on those tricky equations you need to perform while working on projects. Instead of using a normal calculator and suffering while you are constantly converting from decimals to the fractions on your tape measure, Maker Calc allows you to quickly input measurement-based fractions to calculate your results in real time as you type. Additionally, conversions to metric, feet and inches, and others are generated upon typing as well.
One of the most powerful features is the ability to see rounding options based on your selected rounding precision. If your result falls between two measurements on the calculator, then below the screen, you will see the nearest fractions and be able to select the best one for your application. This empowers you as the builder to decide how precise you would like your results to be.

About:
My name is Jake Hasler. I’m a hobbyist woodworker, leatherworker, and maker of many things. I haven’t been able to find a great measurement calculator that I love, so I decided to build my own.

My goal with Maker Calc is to put a tool in your hands that you can trust and that you enjoy using. I’ve put my heart and soul into this app I hope you love it as much as I do. Thanks for being here.

If loving a calculator app is wrong, I don’t wanna be right. I use this app constantly in my home wood shop, it has every single feature I want in a “fractional calculator”, if that’s what we’re calling it. The little Live Conversion window is brilliant for the times I need to work in metric. Great app from a swell developer!

I love this app. I downloaded it days after it was released, and bought the premium edition almost immediately. I use this daily for woodworking, CAD design & 3d printing. And when customers attempt to convert metric Festool measurements when they come in to the Woodcraft store where I work a couple of days a week, I just pull up the app, and, easy peasy, give them the Imperial equivalent!

I’m a woodworker and who’s made my share of fraction-related mistakes. More than I’d care to admit. And yes, I could switch to metric like some of my other woodworking friends, but I don’t want to. 

I use this app nearly every day. It’s well laid out, easy to see with my older eyes, and it does basic fractional math really well. I especially like the bar graph the app displays when a number is between your selected precision - you can quickly tell if, for example, the result is closer to 3/32” or 1/8”, and by how much. Really useful.

Even if you just adding fractions this calculator works! You need to understand that the top part of fractions is for the top fraction numbers and the denominator is the bottom part of the fractions. But after i got that i could figure out any number! I sew, and i do projects that skyways include weird fractions. This will be very valuable!

I have now been using this app for over a month. I continue to be amazed at how many times I refer to it, and how little I refer to all the cheat cheats I have laying around my shop. This app was very well thought out both from a user interface and from a functionality standpoint. I strongly encourage any maker that needs to deal with fractions, decimals, metric, conversions, etc. To download the trial and play with it a while.

This is definitely my most used app on my phone.  I install high end cabinetry down to the 32nd each day and to mess up on calculations could cost the company tons of money, this thing has saved me numerous of times!

With the exception of the round up, round down feature (which is fantastic) the calculator is comparable to the free calculators already out there. If the round up, round down, granularity could be changed from 1/ 16th, to a 32nd, or better yet a 64th I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The ability to change granularity is present. I just didn’t look hard enough. The rounding feature puts this product head and shoulders above others.

The primary calculating function of the app is now free to use forever. Maker Calc Pro remains a paid option that enables precision rounding, live conversions, and a full equation history.

Additionally in this version:
• A new "Precision detail" view that let's see where your result falls in a tape-measure style view, complete with decimals and fractions
• Copying and pasting of results - the decimal result, the fraction result, or the full equation
• Tapping on a value in the list of conversions will now populate that value in the display
• Improved deletion of values with the "C" button; Now just removes one item at a time
• Long-pressing on the "9" numerator value will allow you to input a 0 in the numerator, enabling numerators of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 that previously weren't possible to input
• Precision rounding for the MM setting - previously it was always to 2 decimal places
• Extensive architecture updates to make the app launch must faster, allowing you to get the results need quickly
• Requiring an email address upon feedback submission so I can always contact you for a response
