## What is MakerOps?

MakerOps is the operations platform for makerspaces, fab labs, and shared workshops — built for the staff who keep the space running and the users who interact with it.

EQUIPMENT & MAINTENANCE:
Track every machine's status at a glance. Log maintenance as you do it — including hands-free voice dictation — and sweep overdue tasks across an entire fleet in a few taps instead of one machine at a time.

INVENTORY & PURCHASING:
Get your inventory organized, print labels that help with identification, education, and restocking. Search stock by item or SKU, flag low supplies, and route purchase requests through an approve → order → receive → store workflow — right from the shop floor.

STAFF SCHEDULING:
A shift rota built for real makerspace hours: recurring shifts, drag-to-reschedule, swap requests, and a live view of who's on today.

TRAINING & CREDENTIALS:
A built in LMS that supports mobile and web based training. Build self paced trainings with embedded questions from images, videos, slide decks, and SCORM files. Members progress through prerequisite-gated trainings — orientation before machine certs, certs before advanced classes — and staff can see who's qualified for what at a glance. Credentials can be tied to physical machine access when using a hardware machine controller. For in-person trainings trainers grant credentials by users scanning a secure rotating credential code.

FACILITY ACCESS & HOURS:
Members carry a rotating QR credential for check-in, and everyone can see accurate open hours, including club nights and special hours, before they head over. When paired with a hardware access controller, internal facility access can be integrated into existing building door controllers and turnstiles.

EVENTS:
Browse upcoming open houses, workshops, and member events, and RSVP from the app.

WAIVERS:
Post in app and web based waivers that users sign. Waivers can be mapped to access privileges.

TOURS:
Host a tour request form on your website. Requests get routed into MakerOps and scheduling becomes a breeze. See who is on shift at the requested times, assign a tour guide, and send live updating calendar invites with a few clicks. Tour guests get instructions for the tour, and reminder emails and texts ahead of time.

MakerOps accounts are set up by your makerspace's administrators — there's no public sign-up. If your space runs on MakerOps, sign in with the credentials your admin gave you.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-05

• Pay for a cart in the app. When a store cart is scanned at the counter, you can open it from the link and pay in your own app.
• Sign in with your password manager.
• Starts faster and works better offline.
• Clearer lessons. Training slides show callout text in the right size, with a tap to see a picture up close, and the reading size on notes and paragraphs now matches the web.
• Controller setup. Staff can add a controller to the workspace without pairing it to a machine first, and scan a controller's lock screen code to unlock its admin menu.
• Fixes: the availability note now scrolls above the keyboard, and small layout and stability improvements throughout.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-23

Loans: scan several tools into one cart and sign once; batch check-in.
Pickups: see where your part is waiting and the code to get it.
Tap a tool tag (NFC) to check out.
Training: drag-to-order, matching and photo questions.
Answer availability and coverage requests from Home.
Two-factor sign-in, machine controller improvements, and fixes.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-03

MakerOps is now at home on iPad.
- Full iPad support — sidebar navigation and side-by-side layouts for Equipment, Schedule, Inventory, Tasks, and more, so staff can work the floor from a tablet.
- Request training or assisted use from any equipment page — staff review, schedule, and confirm requests from a new appointment queue.
- Report a problem with a machine, with an optional photo.
- Live session view — see active machine session, timers, and press-to-start status from the home screen.
- A cleaner, more consistent app — one header style on every screen and tighter equipment pages
- Plus many small fixes and improvements

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-22

• Invitation links now open in the app — set your password and you're signed in, no separate login on the web
• A simpler home screen for members and students, showing what matters to you
• Dark mode across the whole app
• Smoother bottom sheets and keyboard handling, plus many small fixes

### 1.0 — 2026-08-19
