## What is Makes Progress?

Practice makes progress.

Now you can simplify your practice sessions with the app that combines everything you need to practice your instrument or practice with the band:
- Metronome
- Sheet music viewing
- Song playback
- Timer (count up or down)
- Target tempos
- Success tracking of your target tempos and overall session

Great for the self-taught musician who has various sources of practice material in the form of songs, PDF documents, images, web based charts and learning services. You can bring all these together into a practice plan and easily use the all.

Timer: You can set how long you intend to practice an item and have the timer count up from 0 or count down to 0.
Metronome: Set your tempo, time signature and subdivision.
Sheets and Web: Both the Sheet music viewer and Web viewer store your pan and zoom customizations in how you want to see their content so that you don't have to keep redoing them in every practice. The for PDF files you can also set the page you want to start at when you practice.
Music: You can use songs you've purchased in Music, an Apple Music subscription or import music files to play along with. Once you've added a song you can set the Start and End points so you can play along to the whole thing or just focus on the part you're working on. You can also adjust the playback speed of the song for purchased and imported songs (not supported for Apple Music songs).
Note: You can make a note on your session so that you don't need to remember what you want to focus on next time.

Enjoy and improve.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.43 — 2026-05-29

v2.43 Cleaning up some rough edges on the new Tempo Plans and added the ability to Pause them and skip stages while practicing.

### 2.31 — 2026-05-12

v2.31 Big update today. We’ve added *Tempo Plans* so that you can build out simple or complex BPM progressions when you practice. Tap on the BPM/% button in the Practice tab and you’ll see a new Plan option then tap Add to make a new Tempo Plan. We also added a Progress bar so you can see where you’re at in any individual Tempo Plan stage. You can build your plan manually or use the Stage Builder tool to build out your linear BPM progression. You can then manually edit the generated stages to customize the plan any way you like. If while practicing you struggle at a given stage, when marking the plan as having been practiced you can indicate which Stage needs more work so you can know when you’re improving.
Also in this release are a series of other fixes and tweaks to the UI as well as fixes in screen refreshing when adding new stuff to your Practices.

### 2.24 — 2026-05-04

v2.24
Added a new Timer control screen to the Watch so you can control the start and stop of the timer from there.
Fixed an issue where Practice Feeling setting was not syncing across to iCloud.
Updated the tutorial for the recent additions in functionality, Watch screens and iPhone/iPad Relay Mode.

### 2.20 — 2026-04-30

v2.20 Couple tweaks and fixes. Fixed the practice success pill to cycle through its options. You can also now double-tap a TBD date to set it to today’s date. Added some color to the BPM watch screen. Made the music playback controls larger to make them easier to use.

### 2.16 — 2026-04-28

v2.16 A revamp of the Lets Practice screen. It now uses the full screen and not just a small alert screen. Better integration of all the tools across the screen and improved full screen sheet music support. Added the ability to add more than one image for a Practice so that they can be treated as pages.
Watch improvements too.
