## What is Makmak?

Makmak is a beautiful, private cookbook for iPhone, iPad, and Mac — a calm place to keep every recipe you love. No ads, no popups, no algorithm, no 2,000-word life story before the ingredients.

And as of this update, the AI is free.

Paste a link from TikTok, Instagram, or any recipe site and Makmak pulls out the real recipe — ingredients, steps, cook times, and a photo, with the blog noise stripped away. No account, no sign-up, no charge — there isn't even an account to make.

SAVE FROM ANYWHERE — FREE
One screen: paste a link (or a whole list), paste the recipe text, photograph a cookbook page, snap a plated dish and let Makmak write a best-guess recipe — or write down a family recipe that exists nowhere else. New here? Add starter recipes with one tap.

ADAPT ANY RECIPE — FREE
Every other recipe app stores recipes. This one changes them. Tap Adapt on anything in your library:
- More protein — raised with real food, not powder
- Smaller portions — less on the plate, the same protein
- Gentler, higher fibre, lower sugar, cheaper
- Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, keto, carnivore
- Or just type what you want

Eliminations catch the hidden sources too — the wheat in soy sauce, the dairy in ghee, the soy in tempeh. You see exactly what changed before you save, and the new version sits alongside the original.

ALSO FREE
Talk to your recipes — "make it for six" — and Makmak revises the whole thing; you review first. Ask Makmak for substitutions, scaling and technique. Per-serving nutrition, protein first. Say what's in your pantry, get what you can cook. Auto-fill a week of meals.

GATHER — REAL RECIPES, NO FEED
The anti-feed: no accounts, no endless scroll, no follower counts. A human-picked Recipe of the Week, and "From the Table," where people share recipes they actually cook. Share yours anonymously; it's reviewed first.

MAKMAK PRO — FOR WATCHING VIDEO
Pro is now for the one genuinely expensive thing: video. Let Makmak watch a YouTube video and read the recipe out of the spoken steps and on-screen text, import a cooking video saved on your phone, and get a much higher daily limit. Everything above is free.

KEEP IT ORGANIZED
Group recipes into Cookbooks — "Weeknight dinners," "Holiday baking," anything — and a recipe can live in as many as you like. Tag, favorite, and search.

IN THE KITCHEN
Cook Mode shows ingredients and steps in big, glanceable text, keeps the screen awake, and starts timers right from a step — on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Scale a recipe to feed two or twenty.

PLAN THE WEEK, SHOP ONCE
Plan meals a day at a time; Makmak combines them into one grocery list, grouped by aisle. Check items off as you shop.

FEATURES
- Free AI import from TikTok, Instagram, any recipe site — no account
- Adapt any recipe: more protein, smaller portions, free-from, or anything you type
- Cook this dish from a photo; read a cookbook page with the camera
- Gather: a curated, no-account way to find and share real recipes
- Cook Mode with Lock Screen and Dynamic Island timers
- "Tonight's Dinner" widget, serving scaling, US/metric
- Cookbooks, tags, favorites, fast typo-tolerant search
- Share any recipe as a link or a card a friend can import
- Private iCloud sync, fully offline, no account
- Import and export anytime — never locked in

PRIVACY FIRST
Your recipes belong to you. Makmak keeps your cookbook on your device and syncs through your own iCloud — no account, no tracking, no ad profiles. Cloud features are off until you turn them on; when you use them, only the link, photo, or recipe you choose is sent to be read, and it's never stored.

Save any recipe. Cook with confidence. Own your cookbook.

Makmak Pro is an auto-renewing subscription: $2.99/month or $19.99/year. It renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel anytime.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.9 — 2026-08-14

- Imports that used to come back empty now work — some posts write the whole
recipe as one unbroken block of text, and Makmak reads those properly now
- When a link doesn't work, Makmak tells you what it actually found instead of
guessing that the recipe must be in the video

### 2.8 — 2026-07-20

We're now Makmak. Same private, ad-free cookbook you know — a new name and a warmer, earthier look.
• A fresh Makmak identity across the whole app
• Gather now leads with First Foods — salmon, game, roots, berries, broth, and more — with quick category chips to browse them
• Cedar-plank salmon as the Recipe of the Week
• A warmer, cedar-toned look throughout
• Polish and fixes under the hood
Everything you rely on stays: save any recipe from a link, video, or photo, make it primal in one tap, talk to your recipes to edit them, plan your week, and cook fully offline. No ads, no account — your library lives on your device.

### 2.7 — 2026-07-14

2.7 is our biggest update yet — and it's all about real food.

Gather: a calmer place to find recipes
Discover is now Gather, the anti-feed. No accounts, no endless scroll, no follower counts. Just a human-picked Recipe of the Week and "From the Table," where people share recipes they actually cook. Submit yours anonymously — it's reviewed before it appears.

Make it primal
Into carnivore, animal-based, or ancestral eating? Tap "Make it primal" on any recipe and Mise rewrites it — carnivore, animal-based, primal, or keto — swapping seed oils for tallow and butter and stripping what doesn't belong.

Talk to your recipes
Ask Mise can now change recipes, not just answer questions. Say "make it for six," "swap butter for ghee," or even "this is an ice cream, not a parfait — rebuild it," and it revises the whole thing. You always review before anything changes.

Sharper import
Share a recipe from TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube and Mise follows the link cleanly — even when it's buried in a caption — so you get the recipe, not the promo text.

For the primal kitchen
A new Primal & Ancestral shelf with real recipes — beef tartare, steak & eggs, bone broth, liver & onions — plus nutrition that leads with protein and fat, the macros you actually track.

Still private, still yours
Your recipe library lives on your device. No account required, ever.

### 2.6 — 2026-07-09

Mise 2.6 — now on your Mac, and easier to share than ever.

MISE COMES TO MAC
Mise now runs natively on Mac. Save recipes from your laptop's browser with a quick paste, plan your week on the big screen, then cook from your phone in the kitchen — everything syncs over iCloud. Cook on your phone, plan on your Mac.

SHARE IN ONE TAP
A share button now sits right on every recipe. Send a clean link to anyone — friends with Mise import the exact recipe, everyone else gets a tidy web page. No account, no clutter.

SHARE A WHOLE COOKBOOK
Bundle a cookbook into a single link — "here are my 8 weeknight dinners" in one share. Open a shared cookbook and every recipe saves at once.

SEE IT SPREAD
Recipes you publish now show views and shares, so you can watch a favorite take off.

FRESH IN DISCOVER
Six new hand-picked recipes across Featured, Summer Grilling, and Weeknight in 20 — grilled peach & burrata salad, flank steak with chimichurri, 15-minute sesame noodles, and more — with every featured recipe now on display.

COOK THIS DISH, FROM A VIDEO
Import a clip that's just a finished plate? Mise Pro can now study it and write its best-guess recipe instead of giving up.

POLISH ALL AROUND
A cleaner Settings screen, a tidier Discover, steadier imports, and a pile of small fixes.

STILL FREE, STILL PRIVATE
Web and photo import, Cook Mode, meal planning, grocery lists, cookbooks, iCloud sync, and full offline use stay free — no ads, no account, no tracking. Turn on Mise Cloud anytime to import from TikTok, Instagram, and video.

Thanks for cooking with Mise. More to come.

### 2.5 — 2026-07-07

Mise 2.5 — Discover: a reason to open Mise even when you're not importing.

MEET DISCOVER
A brand-new tab. Browse hand-picked collections like Summer Grilling and Weeknight in 20, search the whole catalog by name or ingredient, and tap a mood — Dinner, Dessert, Vegetarian — to jump straight to ideas. There's a featured recipe every week, plus shelves that fill themselves: "Ready in 20" and "5 ingredients or fewer." Feeling lucky? Hit Surprise me.

SEE WHAT'S POPULAR
Two leaderboards now live in Discover — Popular this week and All-time favorites — the most-viewed recipes people have shared with Mise. Tap any one to save your own copy in seconds.

KNOW WHEN YOU'RE TRENDING
Share a recipe and it takes off? Mise can now let you know when it crosses a milestone — 10, 50, 100 views and beyond. A little cheer for the cooks who share.

A WARMER WELCOME
First run is friendlier: a quick, guided tour of what Mise does, and a one-tap sample recipe so your cookbook isn't empty on day one.

REDEEM A CODE
Got a free-month offer code? Settings, Redeem a code drops you straight into the App Store to apply it.
