### 3/5 — WHY I NEED COINS

*2026-07-10, version 2.14.1*

I need coins about 40 just to read one manga now you better give them to me or I will write 1 star review pls🥺🙏

### 3/5 — It’s fine I guess

*2026-06-12, version 2.14.0*

Why are the categories so random? Like put romance, or slice of life you don’t need media tie ins or game.

### 2/5 — What is Even Going On?

*2026-05-23, version 2.13.2*

Like the reader itself is…fine, I’ve definitely run into bugs where it throws me to the end of the next chapter, unresponsive page turns, etc. It is a baffling app that doesn’t explain anything. I’m trying a free trial for what seems to be the only subscription level but it still presents content like it might be gated. I have no idea what the XP, little c (I assume some sort of “coin”) or the “up” mean and nothing explains any of it, but it still asks you to spend money on the mysterious currency.

Trying to explore titles naturally in a genre is weird, like I assume organization is done by some invisible popularity instead of alphabetical by title or author. That hurts natural exploration. Though the lack of variety in genre and titles also hurts when it looks like 90% of the fantasy genre is just the same recycled isekai tropes with very few titles that feel worth it. I also don’t understand why it is online only reading when every other reader for decades has let users download in some capacity.

Just a frustrating experience and I just started. Makes me sad that some manga are trapped behind this app.

### 2/5 — Pay everything

*2026-01-28, version 2.12.6*

Lots of titles but they want money right off the bat. If you are looking for a mostly free reader this isn’t it.

### 2/5 — Used to love it

*2026-01-15, version 2.12.5*

I used to use this app every day for my manga, there was finally an app with manga that I could read all day everyday and it was free, bought a new phone , went to download it and it’s completely different, you have to pay now, missing half the manga it used to have as well, now I need to find another app. I miss the original

### 4/5 — A good selection of manga

*2026-01-11, version 2.12.5*

I like this app, but it does need the ability to sort your list. The ability to sort by last red, sort by newest, sort by genre. Otherwise, it’s very useful and I haven’t had any problems with it other than sorting.

### 4/5 — Good title selection. App itself though…

*2025-12-30, version 2.12.5*

Just on the titles alone I’m happy with it. I have a subscription right now and read it quite often

My only issues are on the technical side. The app is at times clunky. How quickly it times out on a load and you have to exit a title to get it to reload

If there’s one thing on the wishlist is a download to read offline function. I use the subway a lot and there are lots of stretches where there’s no cell service

Once again despite the tech gripes, I still like the service and would recommend it

### 4/5 — XP problem

*2025-12-29, version 2.12.5*

i’ve shared it like it said for xp but i haven’t gotten my xp but also theirs rarely ways to get xp this problem needs to be fixed plsss

### 2/5 — Good content, horrible platform

*2025-12-18, version 2.12.5*

MangaUp! Has a lot of good content, however their entire platform is a disaster, it’s buggy, massive login issues, SquareEnix has a terrible platform and no support and it’s easy to get locked out of your own account while still having a paid subscription. Update this platform cause it is almost easier to pirate manga.

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2025-12-08, version 2.12.4*

Trying to continue reading where you last left off automatically kicks you to the very first chapter of the manga and it takes so long for pages to load sometimes.

### 3/5 — Good except for crashing

*2025-09-28, version 2.12.1*

Would be better if it would stop crashing on me every other chapter.

### 3/5 — Server issues

*2025-09-28, version 2.12.1*

Decent app but awful servers… lots of communication errors, sometimes ive tried to load the next page and it just closes me out and unloads the last 10 pages of the chapter…. Meaning i have to reload 15 pages instead of the app just letting me wait for the next 5 to load

### 2/5 — It’s sometimes functional

*2025-09-26, version 2.12.1*

It’s functional

### 2/5 — Almost not worth

*2025-09-25, version 2.12.1*

The “freemium” model is annoying, and the cost of “coins” is more than other manga-reading apps’ subscriptions.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why this sucks

*2026-08-05, version 2.14.2*

U have to pay like the hell

Wanna read not pay

### 1/5 — No saves????

*2026-05-29, version 2.13.2*

I’ve been trying to read like three separate mangas on this app. It never saved my position even after I literally BOUGHT the chapters, now I have to buy them again? Why???? Does literally anyone else have to deal with this? I’m so tired of this

### 1/5 — By far the worst mainstream manga app. This high rating is likely from bots and manipulation.

*2026-04-04, version 2.13.1*

Now, I have all of the official manga apps and I’ve been using the SJ app since sometime in the early 2010’s. I’m not a covid poser fan acting like I have experiences to compare it to, I ACTUALLY do.

All of my other apps, you either subscribe, or you pay per chapter. This app wants you to do BOTH. A subscription gets you completed, backlogged series. If you want to read anything new, you have to make micro transactions to buy items to redeem for chapters. So the $5 or whatever that I spent to subscribe was pointless, I couldn’t read any of the series that I came to this app for. If you’re reading this and thinking I’m nitpicking, think about it this way; do you have to buy new releases from Netflix or Hulu if you have a subscription? Nope. And you can’t bring Amazon into this conversation, because they don’t charge you for the stuff they actually own if you have Prime, you pay for media from their partners who sell on Amazon. Heck, as much as I hate Crunchyroll for all of their buyouts and monopolizing the anime industry, just to close down every company they buy and make it impossible to buy certain merchandise from anyone but them, I can at least say that they gave us free manga with our subscriptions.
So yeah, this app is a straight ripoff. For the last 2 years, i wait a week or two to finally get enough items to read a free chapter. If it weren’t for that one slight benefit, I’d have deleted this trash. Don’t pay, just use it for free. Giving these conmen money only validates their scummy practices.

### 1/5 — Nul

*2026-03-15*

Nul

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2026-03-08, version 2.13.0*

It keeps jumping back to the first chapter

### 1/5 — No reading lists!

*2026-01-27, version 2.12.6*

How do you make a popular manga app and you don’t have some sort of favorites or reading list?!

### 1/5 — Worst of the paid apps

*2025-12-14, version 2.12.4*

I’m stuck in a sign in loop and it keeps kicking me out even though I paid for the subscription so I canceled it pathetic on their part truly is
K manga and viz do better

### 1/5 — What is up with you app

*2025-11-18, version 2.12.3*

What is up with you app. The load times are 10-15 seconds between pages. It is doing it in my phone and my iPad. No other comic app does this….. you need to fix it!

### 1/5 — Problem with the app

*2025-10-20, version 2.12.2*

I can’t get a page but I have enough points for it and it won’t work so It just is pointless you people need to fix your game or app

### 1/5 — Terrible performance

*2025-09-24, version 2.12.1*

Takes an obnoxious amount of time to load pages. Not sure why it is still loading a single page at a time rather than preloading a chapter. Having to wait upwards of 15-20 seconds per page makes this unusable for me. The site works fine in browser as do other manga services I use. I also wish there were viewing options. I prefer reading pages by scrolling down continuously rather than having to stop and scroll individual pages side to side.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Taking too long

*2026-07-11, version 2.14.1*

So I rlly like my happy marriage and assassin Cinderella, BUT they take too long to update

### 5/5 — Great app! But could use some changes.

*2026-06-25, version 2.14.1*

This is an awesome app! There is so many choices of manga books! And different categories you can pick from! But if I were to make a suggestion, it would be to give the points and coins a different use instead of limiting the amount of chapters you can read a day. Like maybe the coins and points could be used to like unlock premium manga books or something like that. But otherwise, it is a great manga app, I highly recommend it 👍

### 5/5 — Review

*2026-06-13, version 2.14.0*

From my experince in "Manga Up!" today, I can tell this is a great app. No this isn't some randomly generated AI or anything. Today, i read a few mangas, and I see no problems, and the month free subscription is something almost no manga websites do! I definitley reccomend this app to people who want to read manga. Give it a try!

### 5/5 — Save money

*2025-09-10, version 2.12.1*

Love that you can get those books for $5 a month . Way cheaper then buying the books and it’s on your phone

### 5/5 — Goblin slayer

*2025-09-05, version 2.12.1*

Great title… especially year one. ANYWAY. Besides it being a great read… I’m having issues with it not being available on my android tablet. I get all goblin slayer titles on my iPhone but I got to my android tablet and search for goblin slayer and Jon of the titles come up… I keep getting ragna crimson. Anyway. help!
