Having to remember or go searching for the story you are already reading is a tad frustrating. So for the moment I may stick to the mangadex website until this issue is fixed. ### 4/5 — It is the best one I have used so far but *2024-06-11* The problem is that 1 chapter takes so long to load. Even if I have full bars 5G and full strength WiFi, it can take up to 10+ minutes of waiting for one chapter to load and with the “Failed to load” message. **Developer response:** If you would like to reach out to me on discord @matdemers with what manga you are having the loading issues with I would be very happy to look into what the issue is and optimize it ### 4/5 — MangaUI is great! *2024-05-29* Loving the app so far. It’s great having a free app powered by manga dex. Just asking so I know where to put the setting to change reading direction ### 5/5 — Great *2024-03-29* Pretty good app with the best selection of manga i’ve seen yet on the app store. Only complaint I have is that “Go to Next Chapter” button will start me at the end of the next chapter instead of the beginning. ### 5/5 — Great app so far! *2024-03-19* Stumbled across this app while wanting a more compact way of reading manga without having to break out my physical copies. App works great lets you search for whatever you want to read and gives you a clean way to read. Only issue I’ve run across is adding series to my reading list doesn’t seem to actually add them but this is just a minor issue as the main page shows what you’ve been reading recently. It’s a very clean, simple, and straightforward UI. There are some issues with frequent crashing of the app, and saving to the reading list. There’s also a few things that are less intuitive in the UI. Other than that, great work Matthew Demers. It’s a really good start to the app. Thank you for sharing your work on this! A couple things to improve: In single page view, it’d be nice to see what page I’m on and what chapter. It would also be nice to be able to swipe to the next page. In that same vein, it would be nice to allow reading from right to left. As a software engineer myself, I’d love to contribute to this project. If you want to help out with the project I am @overlordfluffers in the mangadex discord feel free to reach out ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Deleting an item in a group is bugged *2024-09-21* If you add a manga to a group and try to delete that title from the group it crashes the app and deletes the entire group. I lost my entire reading list because I finished a completed series. Otherwise it’d a good app but it doesn’t allow you to customize swiping left instead of right ### 3/5 — I want to give it 5-stars but… *2024-08-29* The variety of manga and manwha is incredible but I would really like this app if it saved my place in the chapters I’m reading if I haven’t finished it. It would be really cool if it saved your chapter list order preferences(ascending/descending). I think a general browse by genre tab would be handy too, for exploring new series’ and stuff. But yeah, great selection of things to read just not a very good way of tracking your place. ### 3/5 — Lack of right to left reading *2024-08-06* This app is everything I would want. Except it doesn’t offer right to left pagination. Which basically means I can use it, unfortunately. If this were added, I’d use and pay for this app. ### 3/5 — Doesn’t read from right to left like normal manga.. *2024-07-13* This app WOULD BE PERFECT. If there was an option for the manga to be read from right to left like normal manga. Turning the page like an American book then having to read the manga still like normal manga is a turn off. Please add a toggle to allow us to read the manga how its intended to be read. Thank you! (Probably won’t use the app just because of that) ### 4/5 — Great but some issues *2024-08-16* I’ve been using it for a few days now and have loved it! It’s a great reader and thanks to it using mangadex it has a massive catalog of manga with good fan translations! But there are definitely some bugs keeping this from a 5 star app, first is some chapters won’t load for some reason (But if you go back to the list there seems to always be a working reupload right next to it so it’s a tiny issue). Second is that the app doesn’t hold your place when you switch apps half the time meaning if you need to leave the app you better remember what chapter you were on. Third and most important in my opinion is that when you try to removed a manga from your reading list it will remove the whole list instead of just the one which is a massive pain. But don’t let my few complaints dissuade you, I bring them up in hopes the dev team can fix them, if they do this would probably be the best app on the App Store and until then it’s still a great choice! ### 4/5 — Amazing but… *2024-08-12* I’m not sure if it’s just me. But I’m have some trouble deleting mangas/manhwas from my lists. Soon after I press the delete button the app crashes. After I reopen the app my list is completely reorganized. At one point I reopened the app and my entire list got deleted. Smh. Other than that. I absolutely love this app. I am a huge fan of mangadex in and of itself. So when I found out that they supported an app I was so excited. Hopefully the right eyes sees my review and can do something about this. ### 4/5 — Notice some bugs *2024-07-14* So far the app looks great and the UI is amazing. The only bug I’ve noticed at the moment is when I try to delete a manga from the plan to read section it completely shuts down the app. Also I’ve noticed that the updates for some of the mangas are a bit slow. Like one manga would be on chapter 43 on the app but on chapter 50 on the scanlation website. Not sure if that’s just how it’s supposed to work or if it’s just because the app is still relatively new. But good app so far besides that and I look forward to its development. ### 4/5 — Only one thing *2024-07-05* Hello, I just got this app today and I'm loving it, I only have one suggestion. For when reading in "Long Strip" style, there should be an option like "single page" where there's a continuation to the next chapter button. It gets annoying having to exit out and find the next chapter. Thank you ! **Developer response:** Currently Double tapping on the screen will take you to the chapter ### 4/5 — Clean and decently fast, but there's an issue with external links. *2024-06-23* On series like The Beginning After The End, MangaDex uses external links to go to other sites like Tapas. Very convenient! Easy and smooth reading experience. A few bugs and suggestions: 1. (Bug) deleting a manga from a group deletes the whole group. 2. (Suggestion) display total # of pages in chapter while reading / some reading progress indicator. 3. (Suggestion) save manga/page when app closes. 4. (Suggestion) save page # in chapter progress. 5. (Suggestion) connect to user’s mangadex account (If possible; I think I read technical reasons why not). Thanks for all the great work on this! As a future request, an offline/downloading function would be amazing in the future, but I am more than happy with the app as it stands. ### 5/5 — Really convenient, some features I’d really like below *2024-05-07* I use MangaDex on other platforms and never realized they had an API so this app is really convenient. I ran into issues trying to access the feedback form/website so I want to ask the author here if marking chapters as unread and MangaDex account linking will be implemented eventually? I’d prefer to use my reading list there instead of having to re-favorite them on the app. ### 5/5 — Easily the Best Manga-Reading App *2024-04-27* I’ve tried them all. This is the best. I would go into detail, but, I mean… there isn’t really much detail to go into. This is just the best, most convenient, highest quality, best selection etc. manga app out there. It’s not even close. My one piece of feedback would be to refine zooming on individual pages, as it does feel slightly clunky—but that’s a nitpick, and otherwise, it’s perfect.
