The app is straightforward and paired down. It removes a lot of unnecessary junk that other, bulkier apps have added so they can charge families high fees. Mango is also exceptionally user friendly. It feels like something not only made by a parent who knows what parents need, but also has the flexibility and customisation to fit hire you do things rather than making the user bend to fit the app. I’d tried quite a few newborn training apps in preparation for our child, and this is the only one that felt like it was helping me rather than trying to upsell me. The easy to go back and edit trackers for things like nursing and diapers are invaluable. Sex doesn’t change, even proponents of gender spectrum nonsense know this ### 2/5 — Developer is inactive *2026-01-28* I would’ve given a higher rating if there had been a response to my email. I reported an issue where the app is crashing, both via email and through the developer’s Instagram, but never received a response. I eventually found a workaround on my own, without any help from the developer. ### 4/5 — Great app! Activities I wish you could manually add other activities but since my baby is a newborn the presets are fine! The best part is the widgets you can use on the Lock Screen that keep an eye on timers (such as timers for sleep and nursing). The only minor inconvenience is that you have to open the app to update the timers sometimes. For example, if my wife started/ended a timer on her phone, it won’t automatically update on my phone unless I open the app. So my widget will seem as if a timer has been going for hours, even if she stopped it after a few minutes. I really like the widget option and customizability with the paid features. The one thing that would make this app even better is making the “All Activity” section a summary of each day for the past week-10days. When I go to the pediatrician, it’s difficult to look across days for trends or easily refer to X days ago, so an at a glance summary would be convenient instead of a cumulative count of activities (which is a useless number). The summary could look like the summary provided at the top of the “today” and “yesterday” summaries in the journal. Other than this one missing feature, I love this app. Another nice to have would be the ability to attach a photo when you log diapers. In some cases there might be something you want to ask a Dr about and linking it to that logged activity would be helpful. ### 4/5 — Love the app especially the charts *2024-09-16* It really made it easy for me to track progress. I wish I could log directly some values as text without triggering timers or using the timer input type. With our first we ended up writing stuff down to try and keep track of nappies/bottles as it was helpful to know when and how many bottles your babies having as well as nappies as our son had bad constipation. We’d always lose the paper or forget to write things down. This app has helped with our third baby tracking everything. I tested it for a few days to decide whether paying for the premium was worth it and I can say it definitley is. We can track everything. Sleep, pumping, nappies and me and my girlfriend both have access meaning during night feeds/changes we dont need to wake eachother to ask how much of a bottle our babies had or when. It’s 9pm. You’ve slept 4 hours max. You’re tired, exhausted, and the doctor asks how many dirty/wet diapers your baby has had today… today? What day is it? When did the day start? 4? 5? 6? All I remember is getting peed on twice… Incomes mango baby to save the day. I chose this app for 3 main reasons: 1 - The widgets. Oh how well the widgets are made. And the Siri/Shortcut support too? That’s the sort of polish you just don’t see from an app these days, let alone from a solo dev. 2 - The price. You get almost everything for free. Then a flat $10 for everything else. That’s $10 for one kid, not one device. Making it super easy to share with my wife. In a world of monthly subscriptions a flat fee is soooo refreshing. 3 - The data. All hosted in my personal iCloud. Not sold to big tech trying to monitor my child and sell me more products. I’m so grateful my son’s privacy is protected. Highly recommend this app. Such a lifesaver - from a first time dad. Some areas for improvement (just my thoughts, not a reason to avoid the app) I’d love if the “mixed” diapers could increase the total dirty/wet count. It’d make it easier to keep count instead of having to add them together. Simple addition is hard with 3hrs of sleep. I get why some people might want them separate. Maybe a setting to count together/separate would be nice. Also a way to track things for Mom would be super cool. I get that’s not the point of the app, but being able to track her postpartum medication (pain killers), breathing exercises, time standing up, etc. would be nice. I’d even pay another $10 for that app. Overall, fantastic app, great work. As a fellow dev, this is clearly a work of love.
