### 1/5 — Waste! Don’t buy this

*2015-08-22*

Broken app. Just see a giant box (that is non-responsive) when I try to join/add a server. What a waste of money. Do NOT buy this.

### 1/5 — Application quits

*2014-10-22*

Using Mac OS 10.6.8, Mango quits out as soon as I attempt to join any server, so I cannot recommend it

### 1/5 — Crashed and unable to use on Retina display

*2014-07-24*

This software is not build for retina display. Unable to create a single server.
Crashed everytime I want to close it.

Don’t buy it !!!

### 1/5 — This application does not work. Do not buy it.

*2014-05-19*

I truly cannot believe this application is in the App Store. I was under the impression that Apple would have filtered apps like this but no. The application does nothing. You open it and then try to connect. The dialog for entering the connection information appears off screen and that’s it. Nothing happens. I contacted support two months ago and I haven’t heard since. Do not buy this.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2013-11-13*

The layout of this app was broken from the beginning. It is completely unusable. I want my money back - what a waste!

### 3/5 — When oppening the App

*2013-06-18*

and trying to add a server , the drop down fields for adding the server are too large to access and and the server. then the program crashes after trying to close.

Needs to have its preferences checked within the app for default sizes of menu items and windows. And test toroughly with the newest osx version.

Other than that Im sure it would be a good app if it would work.

### 1/5 — Total waste of money , I want a refund

*2012-12-13*

I just bought this application, and it is a total waste of money, when you try and just add a server it pops up a a GIANT text box, where everything except the left side of the ok button is visible. In other words, you cannot even enter the server to connect to. And then 30 seconds later it crashes. This is both on a 13" rMBP and a 15" rMBP..

Don't waste your money on this, even though it is not that much.

### 1/5 — Fehlkauf

*2012-11-28*

### 1/5 — It

*2012-08-07*

I bought this thinking that this will provide search functionality. But it crashed every time I tried to search something. Couldn't recommand this for anyone. Limechat is way better than this.

Is there a way to get back my money?

### 1/5 — Einfach nur schlecht...

*2012-04-12*

Ich schreibe eigentlich nie wirklich schlechte Rezesionen aber bei diesem Programm kann ich nur sagen, Finger weg! Stürzt unter Lion ständig ab und sonst sehr instabil.

### 3/5 — So far so good, but still a long way to go

*2012-04-11*

It's nice that this app now has SSL support, but where are the preferences? It's still my current IRC client, as it's the only one I've found with support for full screen in Lion.

### 2/5 — Still buggy

*2012-03-29*

As title says, still quite buggy. Connecting to servers/rooms is hit and miss. It will sometimes connect, other times it will give me an error message or will crash. Mouse clicks are off. For example, I want to message user A, but instead initiates messages with user B. Other strange bugs are the "message user" menu coming up when clicking the, "Console," "Search" etc. tabs above the sidebar.

Other small things I've noticed include the cursor that's used when inputting text not appearing when hovering over the text input field.

I will give it credit for a nice interface, though. I've been looking around for an IRC client with an interface that's not an eyesore, and this is the best so far.

Needs a lot of work. Should be better than this, considering it's v2.0.4 and an app that needs to be paid for. This seems like something that is still in beta.

### 1/5 — Crashes Constantly

*2012-03-29*

Almost entirely useless, with constant crashes on Lion. SSL support is buggy. Complete lack of intelligent error messages makes it almost useless if there is even the slightest issue. Floods syslog with "12-03-29 12:41:23.536 AM [0x0-0x605605].sk.mediaware.mac.iirc: 00:41:13 [Timers] Fired invalid async timer!".

### 1/5 — In anger and confusion

*2012-02-08*

Purchased it and removed immediately. Really unusable thing without shortcuts (even system like 'Hide all windows' ot 'Quit').
You even unable to use '/j' instead of '/join', and you still must use '#' in channel names. So, '/join #name' is the only way to join a channel.

I wish Apple would create some refund system to return money for such unfinished apps. Cheers.

### 3/5 — Nice but needs some work

*2011-12-05, version 2.0.3*

Very nice UI and very easy to use but has some obvious features lacking. As another review said, there are no menu bar menus, there is no preferences pane, no styling options. There are also a couple of bugs which should have been ironed out. ie: It continues to say 'connecting to server' after even after I start chatting.

Still it's a bargain at £1.49.

### 2/5 — Weird non-native UI and missing support for SSL

*2011-12-05*

Didn't convince me since the UI looks more like a port from iOS (e.g. no standard menu items) and it doesn't support connecting to a server via SSL.

### 1/5 — I hate it

*2011-11-23*

I really do have this application. It's way too features less. When choosing/connecting to a server on Lion, the app closes. It is really hard to use it. I can't believe I paid for this app. Go elsewhere for a decent IRC client.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why is this even in the App Store

*2019-06-01, version 2.1*

Doesn't even start up - completely broken.

### 1/5 — SHould have read the reviews before purchasing

*2019-04-27*

I can't believe this app is allowed in the App Store.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2017-10-17*

this app is terrible, I have it installed on a macbook pro (2016 with touchbar) and I can’t even connect to a server because the server dialog box is completely obscured. What a waste of $4.49. The App completely freezes and then need to force quit to close it down.

### 1/5 — 根本没办法使用

*2017-03-24*

10.12.3 下 打开界面无法添加 server

### 1/5 — NO PLACE TO TYPE YOUR SERVER PASS

*2016-09-13*

This is the worst IRC “Client” Ever.

I paid to get satisfied! now I want my money back.

Read the title again please.

### 1/5 — BROKEN

*2016-06-13, version 2.1*

Doesn’t work at all. Save your time and money.

### 1/5 — DON’T BUY IT

*2016-05-13*

This applications doesn’t work, some panels are out of the screen, so you can’t create any serveur etc.

### 1/5 — I'm NOT Blind!

*2016-02-18*

OMG!!! When I started this app up all I had was super-massively large fonts for everything! When I went to the menu to try to shrink the font size down I discovered it was already set to "Smallest" and changing it to another (hoping it was backwards) only made the font even larger.

I had to maximize it on my 22 inch monitor just to be able to see the host configuration window.

Epic fail just based on font size - I'm not going to use one large monitor for this window.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2015-11-30, version 2.1*

Save your money. They have problems with screen sizing as the app has a mind of its own expanding and contracting the window size. I can add a server as the boxes are outside of the window size. For support you have to join their IRC channel. Not a smart move, now I will have to source an IRC client that works.

### 1/5 — Garbage - Do Not Buy

*2015-10-02*

This is unusable. That’s a shame, too, since it appears to be the ONLY IRC client left in the App store. I use Linkinus on other Macs and it works fine. Wish I could buy that one.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Enormous upgrade

*2026-08-16*

The recent Mango 3 update completely revolutionises the app. Now a fantastic, native client with great customisation and features.

Great to see a fresh client in the space.

### 5/5 — modern, kompakt und praktisch

*2011-10-19*

### 5/5 — One of the best IRC clients in a long time!

*2011-08-03*

Having used Linkinus, LimeChat, and many other OS X IRC clients, this one is by far the best one. Subtle colouring, integrated full-screen support for Lion (and no crashing!), and ease of use makes this my favorite IRC client. Even though there are no preference to set, you really don't need to set any - it has everything you need out of the box for basic IRC uses.

### 5/5 — UI is Fantastic

*2011-07-27*

Developer is really helpful and avaliable in IRC.

### 5/5 — Delicious!

*2011-06-22*

This app is fun to use, the user interface is simple and usefull, I've been waiting for an IRC client that would feel great to use and it is finally there. This app is worth every pennies and I would recommend it to anyone! Awesome!

### 4/5 — Good app, some oddities, but overall good.

*2013-01-16*

Here's my suggestions:

- Allow me to send chanserv commands on login somehow.
- Move the textfield for a given channel to the bottom. Its really weird with it up at the top.
- If you're in search with some text in there, and go somewhere else in the app there's some weird FirstResponder problems, namely that it won't change.
- Add some color configurations. The default colors are a little hard to discern from one another. ie: i'd bold user names first off.

Love the overall design though.

### 4/5 — Mostly a good App

*2013-01-11*

Though it definitely has some short comings ( I can't figure out how to copy a line out of a chat ), configuration is easy, and options are plentiful. Auto authentication against servers like FreeNode is nice too.

### 4/5 — Good, but lacking

*2011-09-12, version 2.0.3*

This application is well-designed, offers fullscreen and offers the basic IRC functions you'd expect. Unfortunately it's still limited in aspects, such as the complete lack of menubar menus and items, no opt+backspacing allowed in the typing bar, lack of preferences (meaning no customising the IRC's text and background colours).
As such, it feels more like a beta than a 2.0, so I can't say it feels as able as other apps of the same price, but then again, it's only £1.49…

### 4/5 — need an irc bouncer feature

*2011-08-12*

nice and simple irc client.

Now, it would be great to have a "bouncer", to use it with an iPhone and still following discussion.
