### 3/5 — Good until recent update

*2026-06-14, version 8.5.1*

Pretty good but took away trigger control. Seems like an odd training to remove. Also, I paid for for the hardware which makes the software possible and yet, you still need my contact info. Creepers.

### 4/5 — Un bon entraînement

*2026-03-01*

### 3/5 — Not suitable for double action

*2025-08-25, version 8.2.1*

sporadically picks up shots with a double action pistol. Also needs to be a function to skip lessons.

### 2/5 — Constantly crashes

*2025-06-27, version 8.1.3*

Even after deleting and reinstalling, this app is constantly crashing when I try to open it. It worked for a little while and it seems it could be a very effective tool for dry firing if it worked. I had to return the hardware, as it is useless without this app.

### 2/5 — Great idea; poor execution

*2025-03-24*

So I absolutely appreciate the idea of being able to get real data on how training is progressing, BUT this App shows very little consistency. I literally put the system in a vice and got readings so different, it could not possibly be recording what was happening in real time. Thus the coaching and critiques, that would come from the data, is not accurate.

Worst of all, it doesn’t communicate with Mantis Laser Academy at all (you have to have separate apps for the two teaching tools) which is a huge waste of time and money.

I do love being able to use the Laser Bullet (from Laser Academy) for verifying shot location! That’s about it though. 🫤

### 2/5 — Finicky

*2025-03-11*

For the first year and a half I had no issues. Recently the app detects false shots or doesn’t record shots.

I’ve spent weeks with mantis support. One of them said this doesn’t fall under their warranty because it’s an algorithm issue.

They’ve made custom profiles for me to use. Now I have to use one profile if I want to shoot at a slow to medium fast pace. I have to use another profile if I want to shoot at a faster pace. This is finicky and gets in the way of focusing on training.

If I focus on say something like tigger finger placement or control and I touch the trigger guard mantis falsely records a shot. Mantis support is aware of this and they said to increase the min score threshold but if my hands and the gun are still than mantis records it as a good shot. Meaning would have to adjust it to values that would filter out good shots. That’s one example.

I can’t do a drill slow and methodically then increase speed without having to stop the drill change settings and continue.

Tech support stopped replying leaving me only one option…leave a review.

Personally I wouldn’t buy mantis for $250. I’ll use it to analyze draw and a few other drills but for $250 for a company to leave a customer hanging with a product that doesn’t work as advertised is not acceptable.

Again for the first year and a half it was fine now it isn’t. What changed? It’s the same gun, same dry fire mag, same mantis. Just send an rma, or replace it and get the customer up and running.

Just get a shot timer and some laser targets and it will be obvious if your trigger pull is solid when your shots become accurate over time.

### 2/5 — Inconsistent

*2024-12-11, version 7.6.1*

The only reason I gave this app 2 stars and not 1 is because is because it gets me to dry fire more. It give very inconsistent feedback.

### 4/5 — Great training aid

*2024-11-23, version 7.5.1*

The only issue I have with Mantis is I'd like to see a larger weapon selection. I recently bought a Springfield Prodigy 9mm but unfortunately it isn't included in the weapon list. Other than that.....spot on!

### 5/5 — The best shooting aid out there

*2024-11-03, version 7.5.1*

I have been using this app with my Tor-x Steiner Mantis system and CoolFire and my shooting went from mid 60s to high 80s and 90s within a week! The feedback is amazing picks up on the slightest mistakes!

### 5/5 — Wow…

*2024-10-08, version 7.4.1*

It’s honestly insane after almost 5000 shots of dry fire how that improved my live fire skill. I haven’t been more motivated to want to dry Fire my weapon till now.

### 4/5 — Bastante bien

*2024-09-19, version 7.3.8*

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-07-09, version 7.3.4*

The Mantis iOS App is a brilliant tool that complements the Mantis X3 training system perfectly. As someone who uses it extensively for IPSC training, I find it incredibly user-friendly and packed with features that enhance my shooting practice.

Ease of Use

From the moment you open the app, it is clear that user experience was a top priority in its design. The interface is intuitive, making it easy to navigate through various options and settings. Whether you’re a tech-savvy shooter or someone who prefers simplicity, the Mantis iOS App caters to all.

Detailed Feedback

One of the standout features of the app is the detailed feedback it provides. It shows exactly what happens between pressing the trigger and the projectile's exit from the barrel. The app detects even the slightest movement and presents this data in an easily understandable format. This allows shooters to identify and correct faults quickly, leading to significant improvements in performance.

Comprehensive Analysis

The Mantis iOS App offers a comprehensive analysis of each shot. It tracks various metrics such as trigger control, grip, accuracy, and more. The app presents this data visually, making it easy to see patterns and areas that need improvement. This kind of in-depth analysis is invaluable for anyone serious about honing their marksmanship skills.

Engaging Drills

The app includes a variety of drills that keep training sessions interesting and productive. These drills are designed to focus on quality repetitions, with immediate feedback provided after each shot. This helps maintain engagement and ensures that every practice session is effective.

Versatility

Another advantage of the Mantis iOS App is its versatility. It works with a wide range of firearms, from pistols to rifles, and can be used for both dry fire and live fire practice. This flexibility makes it a valuable tool for shooters of all levels and disciplines.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Mantis iOS App is a fantastic companion to the Mantis X3 training system. Its user-friendly interface, detailed feedback, and comprehensive analysis make it an essential tool for anyone looking to improve their shooting skills. Whether you’re training at home or on the range, this app provides the insights and data needed to take your marksmanship to the next level. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Excellent feedback

*2024-07-02, version 7.3.1*

After a quick turnaround on an app repair the app is working phenomenally again. This app takes your critical dry fire training to the next level with amazing data to correct your form and build muscle memory.

### 3/5 — Live fire has never worked for me

*2024-03-11, version 7.1.1*

I’ve owned the Mantis for a few years now, and dry fire works great. Whenever I take it to the range, the live fire never works. Every time, I follow the troubleshooting steps and nothing changes.

### 3/5 — Time to integrate the Academy app

*2023-11-16, version 6.10.5*

Using this app for dry fire would be waaay better if they could integrate the features of the Mantis Academy (real target and laser shot detection). I am somewhat disappointed that I spent $175 to upgrade my Blackbeard for a glorified gyroscope. 😕

### 5/5 — Absolute Best Dry Fire application

*2023-08-09*

Started using MantisX a year ago, sparingly at first and then regularly as I became more familiar with the product. Now I use it almost every day. It is without question the best dry fire application I have used and has made me a much better shooter and now, competitor.

What is most impressive is that Mantis keeps evolving and continues to get better and more flexible. The company regularly introduces new exercises, new courses, added functionality and better ways to evaluate your progress.

Buying the Mantis X-10 was the best money I have spent on anything involved in shooting sports and the value in what it has done for my shooting development is worth many multiples of what it cost.

I am such a fan of MantisX I have probably sold a dozen of them to friends and shooting partners. That’s how strongly I feel about the product.

**Developer response:** Thank you! Train on!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App crashing non-stop

*2025-06-24, version 8.1.2*

Just got the mantis x-10 when the app works it’s great but for some reason when you leave the app and try to open the app again it constantly crashes. Not allowing me to open the app at all.

### 1/5 — App Not Working

*2024-07-02, version 7.3.0*

I click the app and it acts like it will open up but does not. I restarted my phone and that didn’t help. You guys need to get your tech guys to fix whatever bug is going on with the app.

### 1/5 — No shipping policy & no answers

*2024-05-21, version 7.2.6*

Ordered on a Thursday. It’s Monday night and not a single shipping update. Mantis says the product went out on Friday. USPS still has no confirmation of the product. Mantis says it’s not their problem and I can contact them again in 3 weeks if not resolved. Looking into cancelling and exploring a chargeback.

### 1/5 — Cannot sign up

*2023-04-11, version 6.6.5*

Have tried 2 different emails. Both say user name exists which is impossible. Tried recovering the accounts under my emails and guess what, doesn't exist. Piss poor for something that should be so simple.

They must really want access to your Facebook to spam you and steal your data. Delete the app and return your their system before you get scammed.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2023-03-18, version 6.6.3*

Garbage product. Records about 40% of shots. Will record about 10% in double action. I’ve sent email to company, no response.

### 1/5 — What you have done???

*2023-03-12, version 6.6.2*

After last update (2 days ago). App is total unstable, don't save history, crash when trying to edit recent drill, cancel all my achievement … it is bad …

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2023-03-02, version 6.5.0*

No support, app is poorly designed and probably not even tested. Courses require 4+ consecutive days to complete, as if everyone had that free time. Lacks a lot of information and the videos explaining of the weird random drills are cut in half by the app design when screen is on ladnscape.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work and trouble tickets are never answered

*2023-02-07, version 6.5.0*

I have tried this in multiple striker fired guns by Springfield and Sig and it never detects dry fires.

I even spen another $100 on a DryfireMag and it still registers nothing. The troubleshooter in the app just says algorithm has failed and asks me to submit a ticket. I have done so several times with no answer or assistance.

This has been a complete waste of money.

### 1/5 — App crashes when you start training

*2023-01-09, version 6.4.0*

Purchased Mantis X 10 elite brand new. App crashes during introduction set up open training. Will not allow me skip the intro course. Device is useless until app is updated.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-11-20, version 6.2.4*

I liked it before but now it crashes every time to try to connect. Useless!!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-08-12, version 8.6.0*

This with the titanX for home fry fire practice has been a big help for improving my shooting. It can definitely see a big improvement when I go to the range for live fire. I can’t say enough about how helpful the feedback is for diagnosing grip and trigger issues

### 5/5 — I love it

*2026-01-20*

I do a lot of dry fire practice so this is actually really good for me. It’s surprising the amount of information I can get and even though use Bluetooth, you can still listen to music with it which I think is cool even through earbuds. My only complaint is that sometimes I cannot recognize the difference between a shot and racking a charger handle but other than that, I have absolutely zero compliance.

### 5/5 — My first MantisX didn’t work

*2025-07-30*

My first MantisX didn’t work but, Mantis sent me a new one. Very few questions were asked and had me back dry firing within a few days. They really stand behind their product and, the customer support is better than any company I’ve ever used. The dry firing and, live firing have helped me correct a lot of bad habits that I have. I know every once in a while i get a weird reading but, 99% of the time it gets a good reading even if I don’t like what it says. I am happy to see a company out there that is trying to get people the best training without having to spend as much money on the range and on shells.

### 5/5 — Hard to believe

*2025-07-29, version 8.1.3*

It’s really hard to believe this app is free it’s worth so much money

### 5/5 — Must have for shooters

*2025-06-04*

Great tool and great app. A bit expensive, but compared to the ammo you’ll be saving, it’s a no brainer. The progresses made in the first sessions are truly amazing. On top of that, the app is regularly updated with more mods, and unlike certain company the app doesn’t have any paying options…

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-04-07, version 8.0.2*

Just the fact that this device/app exists is 5/5.

### 5/5 — Can’t cheat my grip in dry practice with this

*2025-04-02*

I’ve been using the app along with my Mantis X10 daily for a few months now on my iPhone. I have had no issues to mention. The training courses are excellent and progressive. I get particular benefit from the trace views—that turned out to be the most actionable bit of data. It visually tells me what’s going on in my grip. I used that screen last night to move my dry practice into a consistent, smooth trigger press. Here’s why this matters: in dry practice, it becomes very easy to get away with a poor grip. But the Mantis and especially the app won’t let you do that. It gives you a metric, and a visual explanation, of how the shot needs improvement. I realized I was compromising on my grip and made corrections.

The Mantis app doesn’t judge—it just reports data, which makes it a very helpful training partner. By paying attention to the data, and pursuing a course completion badge, I was able to avoid a common training scar and pitfall of dry practice. It made me use a consistent, quality grip and trigger press. It’s well worth the time and effort to pay attention to the data.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2025-02-22, version 8.0.0*

Just buy it!

### 5/5 — Amazing App

*2025-01-27*

This app, in conjunction with the mantis X training system, will improve your shooting skills more in 30 days, than you ever will by putting holes in paper targets, and trying to figure out what you’re doing wrong.

I’ve been using mine for over three years and have registered over 75,000 shots saving $$$. I have four friends who have also started using this system, because of hearing me brag on how good my accuracy is now.

### 5/5 — Mantis X3 + Dry Fire Mag

*2024-12-15, version 7.6.2*

Just found another way to love Mantis even more. Dry firing with the Dry Fire Mag. What a great combination and completely loving to not have to rack the slide after each trigger pull. Winter time fun indoors and saving money on ammo.
