### 3/5 — Good at tracking, but mentally assaults you 😂

*2026-08-25, version 26.10.0*

This app constantly has a pop up asking to you to upgrade.
That’s a feature I can decide for myself without being constantly bombarded. It already collects your data and distributes it to “partners”.
I’d be more likely to upgrade if it didn’t pop up right when I’m trying to START my workouts.
This app reminds me of a desperate person who can’t take no for an answer and constantly shoots their shot despite being rejected for years.
Seems like the psychology of “annoy them until they stop saying no” but imagine that mindset in any other scenario.
The only feature I care about is the most basic feature of the app and I’m not paying for a subscription to an experience I don’t care about. At this point, I’m not upgrading out of the principle of your methods. 😂 I’m looking for recommendations for less annoying apps.

### 3/5 — Missing previous stats

*2026-08-20, version 26.10.0*

Until recently the app kept all my results for each bookmarked distance, it appears that they’ve all disappeared. Also the option for distance intervals no longer available?

### 5/5 — Love this app

### 5/5 — Jogging for a no jogger

*2026-08-18, version 26.9.0*

This is a very flexible app. I hate jogging but this app lets me set the distance notice at every half mile so that I can walk a half mile then jog a half mile then walk a half mile and so on for however far I want to go.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-08-17, version 26.9.0*

Looked up free running app, it is not free

### 1/5 — Poor distance tracking

*2026-08-09, version 26.8.0*

I use 3 trackers when running and my partner has a different too.
When we hit 5kms on 4 other devices, this one says 4.75kms

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-08, version 26.8.0*

Multiple times I have started it, saw it reading and then went on my run and at the end when I want to see my time and distance it turns out it was not tracking at all. Garbage app, do not use.

### 1/5 — Always glitches.

*2026-08-08, version 26.8.0*

I’ve had this app for many years. I recently ran with friends who used two different running apps. Their distance was spot on while mi e was less. Their pace matched each other’s while mine was slower. Mind you we ran in a pack and I leditoffenglitchesand does not record my second mile. ☹️

### 1/5 — Ads in notifications

*2026-08-07, version 26.8.0*

Need I say more?

### 1/5 — I want Endomondo back!

*2026-08-01, version 26.8.0*

I have been using Map My Run ever since Under Armour retired Endomondo.

These trackers generally all do the same thing so in that respect, Map My Run does it’s job.

However, I really do miss the simplicity of the analytics provided by Endomondo.

After my run, it had a simple chart showing the duration of each km with the accumulative time running alongside it in the most easy to find and easy to read manner.

It also has a hare and a tortoise so you could see which was your fastest and slowest kms at a glance. Please bring that to Map My Run.

You could then add a simple button to open up more detailed analytics.

Was frustrated to see after my last run that I had completed 5.08 kms, but rather than showing my time at the 5km mark, it skipped that and only showed 5.08. A small thing, but Endomondo was not like that! While it can’t come back, surely you can put the best parts of the old app into your current app.

Thank you.

Additional Edit Posted 01/08/2026

I have now started to transition to the Nike Run Club app.

I get so much more from a free app than I do from MapMyRun.

As previously stated, Endomondo was my favourite tracking app. Aside from the easy to read analytics, Endomondo also had badges for achievements, for example, my fastest 1km, my fastest 5km, my longest run, etc. I could click on these badges and it will provide the details of that run. Under Armpur bought Endomondo and ran it alongside MapMyRun. They then retired Endomondo and didn’t transfer the best parts of Endomondo too MapMyRun.

However, Nike Run Club is free and has these features.

Another great feature is i can set Nike Run Club to my target distance and it will stop tracking once I reach my goal.

This helps with consistency in identifying progress. MapMyRun does not have such a feature.

Finally I note that when using other apps at the same time, MapMyRun Run records time and distances differently in a way that makes distances longer at a longer time. 5km on MapMyRun is 100 metres further than what it is on Nike Run Club.

While I don’t know which of the two is more accurate, there are just too many advantages and benefits of using another app rather than MapMyRun and on that basis, I have reduced my score to 1 star and added this additional edit to my review.

### 1/5 — Last year with this app for me.

*2026-07-17, version 26.7.3*

As the title notes, this is my last year with this app (unless fixes resolve the problem). It works only sporadically when I’m on a treadmill. Due to the Florida heat, I mostly use a treadmill. When doing so, I have go refresh my app after each mile as it stops counting if I do not. Now, it just stops. I’m on a treadmill now. The treadmill has me at 1.7 miles. The app has me at less than 0.50 miles. Totally unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Miscalculated distance

*2026-07-07, version 26.7.3*

This stupid app showed me zigzagging through a wooded area when I was on the side the whole time. Ended up adding 0.5 miles to my run. Worthless and deleted

### 1/5 — Dear oh Dear

*2026-06-26, version 26.7.0*

I downloaded it, I was about to enjoy it however Two foolish people stood there with their fingers up posing for a selfie. Sort of, the way snoop dog and pac did, only this was blatantly rude. I hope the app providers can eliminate such silly so called gang signs. I deleted it immediately!

### 1/5 — Location

*2026-06-21, version 26.7.0*

It never let me change my location

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

Great app always delivers and so much more!!

### 5/5 — Incredible value!

*2026-08-21, version 26.10.0*

I use the free version for hiking, running and biking and it works every time. Battery consumption is minimal and they keep adding features and challenges even though I don’t pay for it. Adds are not noticeable and did I mention it’s free?!

### 5/5 — Oh yeah!

*2026-08-21, version 26.10.0*

Boogers everywhere

### 5/5 — 👍

*2026-08-20, version 26.10.0*

It’s always the map my run I can count on!

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2026-08-20, version 26.10.0*

This app has the simple features for free that I needed to track my runs, distance, speed, etc…, there are many other great features with the monthly subscription. Works great, no issues at all.

### 5/5 — Using it since it was invented.

*2026-08-19, version 26.9.0*

Very deer to me. Has all the miles since then enough miles go from coast to coast and then some... ;-)

### 5/5 — Great app for tracking my mileage on hikes.

*2026-08-19, version 26.9.0*

I use this app every time I go hiking, and I even got my friend to start using it, too. It’s a pretty decent app, especially since it’s free.

I enjoy seeing the map with my current location, the current mileage and pace, the total distance and elevation gains at the end, and being able to keep a record of my hikes.

The occasional ads asking me to upgrade are annoying, but tolerable.

The stats are definitely cool, which is why I’m still using this app after many years.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2026-08-19, version 26.9.0*

Thank you for a fast, free app that helps me log my workouts. Such a simple thing and so powerful! 🩷
