## What is Map Redirect for Map Links?

Map Redirect is a Safari Extension to replace all map links on a webpage to be opened with the map app of your choice. You can select your target to always open in Apple Maps, Google Maps, HERE WeGo Maps, Bing Maps, Waze.

Map Redirect will automatically redirect you to the maps app of your choice. If you select "Ask Me" a prompt will appear to ask you where to open the link.

Works on Google Search pages and any other webpage. No need to copy/paste addresses anymore.


Instructions:
1. Download Map Redirect from the App Store
2. Go to Settings -> Safari -> Extensions. Enable Map Redirect as Safari Extension
3. Open Safari. Search for location. For example, type London
4. Click on Context menu (the symbol "aA"). Click on Map Redirect to give it access to the webpage you are visiting.
5. The extension needs to read and alter the web page to change the map links. If asked for access, you may select to allow it for one day or to always allow.
6. In the Map Redirect popup, you can select your target. For example: select Apple Maps
7. Map Redirect will now scan the webpage for map links and convert them to be opened in Apple Maps.
8. Click on any map link
9. Map Redirect will now take you to London in Apple Maps

Note:
Map links on websites can appear in various forms with different parameters. Map Redirect tries to detect and convert them as much as possible to your desired target. Therefore, Map Redirect requires permission to read and alter the web page to change the map links. If asked for access, you may select to allow it for one day or to always allow.

In case Map Redirect does not work on a specific webpage, please contact us and let us know the URL to check and fix it. Thank you for contributing.

*HERE WeGo deeplinking support is limited to only links with geo-coordinates
*Bing maps will use Apple Maps on iPhones
*Waze Deeplinking support is limited to searching from your current location to what is around you

Map Redirect does not use any trackers of any sort, nor does it keep, track, sell, rent, or share any information on you throughout your use of the app with any third parties. Developer is completely unreachable. Emails bounce back as undeliverable. This should be removed from the App Store and refunds issued

Map Redirect 1.14 is no longer redirecting Google Maps links from Google Search over to Apple Maps.

Issue:
- Google Search results that open Google Maps or directions links no longer trigger the Safari extension.
- Links open directly in Google Maps or Safari instead of being redirected to Apple Maps.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Safari
2. Search any place in Google
3. Tap a Google Maps result or “Directions” link
4. Link opens in Google Maps or browser instead of Apple Maps

Expected:
- All Google Maps links should redirect to Apple Maps per extension settings

Actual:
- No redirect occurs
- Extension appears enabled in Safari settings but does not execute on Google Search results

Notes:
- Apple Maps is selected as the destination app in settings
- Other Safari extensions were disabled during testing
- Issue appears specific to Google Search result links

Map Redirect for Map Links was great for redirecting Google Maps to Apple Maps for privacy. Instructions and functionality broke with iOS 18 (Sep 2024), ~15+ months non-functional. App Store listing misleads users. Per guidelines, fix for iOS 18+ or remove. Your work helped many

I've followed the install and set up directions to the letter multiple times and it will not show up in the contextual menu. I wish I could get my 2 dollars back.

Die Extension ruft leider nur die HereWeGo-Webseite auf und erkennt nicht, dass die App bereits installiert ist.  Wenn man diese dann von der Webseite aus öffnet, „weiß“ die App leider nichts von den Koordinaten. Auch Bing (Web) macht Probleme, die übergebenen Parameter scheinen nicht zu passen.
Bei Waze wird nur die App geöffnet, aber anscheinend die Koordinaten nicht übergeben. Alle Dienste wurden über das Menu aufgerufen, iOS 18.5

Abgesehen von diesen Problemen, wäre eine Unterstützung von OpenStreetMap ein Wunsch, am liebsten die „Organic Maps“-App. Danke!

Funciona a la perfección en la mayoría de los enlaces y en los que no, el servicio post venta lo soluciona muy rápido. Yo no tengo GMaps instalada y esta app evita el engorro que supone abrir un enlace a GMaps en el navegador y luego tener que buscar la dirección en Mapas o Waze. Recomendado!
