But could be better *2013-11-27, version 1.26* Great app for hunting! As mentioned waypoints would be a huge plus and maybe overlay options such as land administered by DOC. ### 4/5 — Nice fast map prog *2012-05-26, version 1.21* Works well apart from search feature which is terrible. Often a search takes you way out to sea past the chathams. Would prefer zoom to go in a little larger on the iPhone Faster map scrolling than memorymap ### 4/5 — Very useful *2012-05-06* It is great to have the NZ topographic maps on the iPhone and coupled gps to show current location. Maps are always North up. There is no Head up option which would be useful to identify mountains and landmarks. Also the zoom level cuts out at a magnification that suits good eyes. It would be good if zoom went a couple of pinches larger to ease readability. If those two things were fixed it would rate 5 stars. ### 4/5 — Good but needs waypoints etc. *2012-03-20, version 1.21* I love knowing just where i am when offroad in my 4x4. As others have noted it would be fantastic to have waypoints and a record of where you have been recorded. Great to be able to share. That would be a 5 star app!! ### 4/5 — Great app but.... *2011-09-13, version 1.21* This is a really useful app as I am a photographer and am often in areas where there is no cell phone coverage. However, the search function has bugs and needs sorting out as getting a blank screen in a search is not great in a map app! It would be fantastic if waypoints could be added. What would also help is the ability to pin a note to a location as I always need to note data on pics in remote locations. I'm sure others would use pin notes as well! ### 4/5 — good, simple map app *2011-01-08* What it is: a map based on the excellent NZ 1:50,000 topo maps ("infomaps"); and a gps indicator of where you are on that map. Nothing more than this. It is not a track recorder, and not for driving destinations, since it tells you only where you are, right now. It doesn't tell you anything else. It has no menus, and only one button. I use it when off-road: fishing, tramping, etc and it works well. For me it's a way to avoid buying all of the Survey and Land Information 1:50,000 topo maps. This App's maps are not as sharp as the paper maps that they come from, and there is a limit to how much you can enlarge the map on screen, but it gets large enough to see details like swing bridges (but just barely) and huts. I guess that to go any larger on screen would have rocketed the App size way above the current 1.48 GB. So, for the price of 2 paper topo maps you get the entire South Island without seams (yeah!). And because cell coverage in NZ is bad, and airtime is expensive, that fact that this works totally without coverage is great. Turn off the iPhone's network data and increase battery time when using this App off-road. Simple, basic, works -- I like it. ### 4/5 — GPS *2010-12-30, version 1.21* Great maps, just lacks ability to set a way point, hope this comes out in an update... ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not so good *2014-06-02, version 1.26* Flattens iPad battery if left on, was promised an update with new features but still waiting and it's too expensive for what it is. ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2012-10-09, version 1.21* Not enough zoom on ipad, search feature is a joke as it takes you to the ocean instead of what you are searching for. Inability to mark waypoints, inability to change datum as it still displays the old geodatum49 instead of the current nztm2000 which has been around for years. The distinct lack of care or updates by the developer speaks volumes, this is rubbish and not worth $20!!!
