It is hard to believe that mapmyindia is provider of maps in apple maps as well but there satellite maps is up to date. What happened with mapples then? The user experience is also sub-par. The maps are so cluttered and confusing. They look pretty dated compared to Google and Apple maps. I want this app to be much better compared to those. I keep this app on my phone in a hope that some day their UX team will do a better job with design and they will beat apple and google maps in terms of simplicity and user experience. It’s a fine mapping solution, with an app that just works and is smooth on CarPlay. I love the real time traffic info the most. Keeps it fun. But it does need more refinement. Firstly, CarPlay needs work. Audio always starts on by default. It doesn’t care if I kept it off the previous time. The navigation ALWAYS has audio turned on to full blast. It’s annoying. That bug needs to be fixed. Second, related to CarPlay, it’s super hard to report obstacles or potholes via the car. There’s no button to scroll through the options and if you try to find more, it will def accidentally choose an option you didn’t mean to. Overall you need your testers to do their jobs and TEST THE APP in CarPlay before launching updates. Fix the reporting pages n options in the car! Third, please revamp the home page of the app. Get rid of the unnecessary ads. Yes, I don’t want to see that eye sore of banners about MAPPLS and lord knows what. I just need directions. Besides that, keep up the good work. User do not have option/settings to select highway/express way. even it takes more time few drivers prefer it. 2. Sometimes it gives wrong directions , eg from signal even if right turn is allowed it ask for left turn and then u turn unnecessarily 3. Cost calculation is good but don’t store your option every time need to change fuel type. 4. There should be options to mute individual notifications. Like if i want notifications for speed breakers but not for sharp turns i cannot do it. ### 2/5 — Patriotism≠ perfection | No bias, Just Honesty. *2025-10-23* Maples is an ambitious Indian mapping app aiming to compete with Google Maps and Apple Maps. The idea behind it is promising, but the execution is still flawed. The 360°/street-level view is blurry and pixelated, akin to 480p-720p quality. While the images capture the buildings and surroundings, the low quality makes the experience poor. When sliding, rotating and using the on-screen navigation arrows, the app often lags. There are times the app is completely unresponsive for a few seconds, which makes exploring frustrating. Maples is still enhanced by the addition of 3D navigation for multi-floor destinations and the interactive arrows for forward and backward movement. Even though these are great ideas, they would be better appreciated if the app performed better. The design of the interface and the touch icons, which is also a major part of the user experience, needs to be worked on. There needs to be a more precise and responsive design for the system to be more intuitive, which will also help navigation. Just because it is Maples doesn't mean I will ignore it's flaws. Being an Indian app doesn't mean I will overlook its flaws. Patriotism should not trump performance, which is the ultimate benchmark to be met. Suggestions: - Upgrade 3D/street imagery to 1080p+ resolution. - Optimize performance and reduce lag. - Improve UI responsiveness and icon design. - Ensure smoother 360° view and virtual navigation. Some of the feedback points: 1. App does not update traffic condition in real time. Mostly it was red to me but I was easily driving 40-50kmph 2. Its confusing to know whether to take highway or not. Its good your 3D feature but not very super helpful. Its good to have. A driver which is your user also has fraction of time to decide whether to take highway and not checking 3D layout of road to decide is too much. This seems over-engineering. Also if maps can sync with LLMs and I can search maps by typing take me to my office and I would like to have a coffee and also the car is low on gas>> maps opens up and shows point a my current location point b Gas station point c coffee shop point d office and all these along my office route without changing course. 1) Would be nice if I select a random place (say Chennai) and filter “temples” or “bangle shops” then choose my current location and the maps automatically creates a travel plan with the nearest 5 or 6 temples or bangle shops in a way which makes my travel easier. Especially, when there are exits, flyovers to take this app very effectively shows visual indicators to make sure the driver takes the correct route. I, however, need to report a bug that is when any audio announcement is made the actual infortainment's sound lowers permanently and then I am not able to listen to the music properly. Kindly fix this. I don't face such issues on Google Maps or Apple Maps. ### 3/5 — Audio issues with car play *2025-05-21* Hi I really love this app and it has already replaced google maps for me but there are issues I am facing like when my iphone 14 plus running ios 18.5 is connected to car play with original apple lightning wire and music is also being played on apple music there are pretty annoying issues like when mappls tells me a turn or any announcement it lowers my apple music being played significantly and once the announcement is over from mappls side the music in background does not return to its original volume, to fix the issue I have to tap on speaker icon on mappls app several times to resume the music to original volume, this keeps on repeating over and over whenever there is a audio cue heard from mappls app on car play. Reroute is very slow if you missed your turn. 2. Doesn’t work in split view in apple car play. Example- on long road having no turn for next 80km then you may want to split your apple car play screen in music app and map but mapple split view doesn’t show your current route and vehicle icon/location but google maps handle it’s amazingly. Raising the volume isn't helpful since it also increases the car's music volume. To hear navigation alerts, I have to raise the car's volume to at least level 20, which is too loud for music and very distracting. Either I can use this app or play music in the car (I prefer music and use the other navigation apps simultaneously). It would be great if this app could have a separate volume control, similar to what Google Maps and Apple Maps offer. Until the issue resolved, this app is no use of mine hence 1 star else it deserves solid 5 stars. And to my surprise, the product manager is so dumb that he/she is inclined towards adding unnecessary features than fixing life threatening (can cause car accidents due to distractions) bugs that this app has. ### 1/5 — Not even a single bump or pothole was notified *2023-12-25* I would use google maps instead ### 1/5 — Shows all wrong roads. *2023-07-09* Showing road through some private property. The device works fine, and it seems like the device sends updates on regular basis. However the app experience is extremely poor. Every time I have to check the status of the car, the app logs me out and then forces me to reset the password. It’s been 2 days since I have been using the app, and I have already reset the password 3 times! moreover the process for resetting the password takes at least 5 to 6 different attempts, The OTP which I get on the phone does not work, and to top it all my account gets blocked for 30 minutes every time due to multiple wrong attempts!!! it seems like the app was made by kids, and has not been tested or debugged to deliver a consumer grade experience.. it’s unethical to charge so much money for a device when you don’t even have the product ready!! The voice guidance is clear, but the volume feels normal and not loud enough to be heard easily in traffic or with helmet noise. With in a KM or so, I missed a turn. But since I wasn’t completely new to the city, I found that I’m on an alternate route, so I continued on that. But the app, instead of rerouting to the new route I was taking, kept showing me directions to turn to take me back to the original route, which was unnecessary. I had to stop navigation, pick the alternate route I was on and start it again for it continue in right direction. I don’t usually write reviews either, but this app actually made me want to write one (not like “forced,” but genuinely impressed me). This app is brilliant. And by brilliant, I mean excellent. This is my second time installing it. The first time was back when the whole Swadeshi movement buzz started and Mappls was in its initial phase. Back then, it wasn’t great — slow movement, laggy interface, roads barely visible, and not precise at all. So I uninstalled it. I didn’t leave a review because I figured it was still in development. Fast-forward to last month — I downloaded it again. And my god, I was impressed. They’ve improved massively. No more lag, smooth movement, and the best part — it’s accurate. So precise that sometimes it doesn’t even feel real. Let me share my experience. I recently visited Manali, and honestly, I was hesitant to rely on Mappls. You know how hilly areas can be — narrow roads, patchy signals, all that. But this app didn’t fail me. Not a single wrong turn. Even Google Maps has messed up on me before in remote areas, but Mappls didn’t. And here’s the thing — it doesn’t just track car movement or traffic; it actually accumulates data using AI. Parts of Manali are under construction, and the app showed yellow and red zones. I was confused at first — there wasn’t any visible traffic. Then I realized, cars were slowing down at those points, so the app flagged them as potential slow zones. That’s brilliant. Only thing is, you guys need to work on giving more accurate time to destination. Google maps & Apple Maps are showing different time (actual) and your app is showing a lesser time, always. Also the pointer needs to be on the road not next to it.
