Adventure Game Changer + a hick-up!
Initially I was fairly frustrated that when the new update was forced, I lost access to the "record-track" feature, which I heavily rely on. The update and changes came un-announced which I found disappointing.
However, previous / original tracking data was NOT AFFECTED by this change! I simply was stranded remote without the ability to record the track, and because of remoteness there was also no way to update & sync the app with the phone.
Once back with reception I contacted the developer, and had a genuine positive discussion. We were able to trouble-shoot and resolve this issue, To be honest, I did not actually expect a response at all, something I deeply appreciate.
Putting this unfortunate experience aside, I have been using the app mostly in remote Australia, where having good offline-maps, GPS positioning, and features can be vital to safety and survival. Besides the most recent recording issue the App has not let me down.
I am still able to see my position, as well as set Way-Points, which we used to back-track.
The most recent UP-DATE is however a game-changer in terms of offline visualization. I am now able to view the map and plot a route safely through uncharted rugged terrain with much more precision and detail.
The 3D application makes this even more interesting, as we can see the sudden drops, cliffs, elevations in much more detail and clarity.
To me this is a must have app when you love out-door adventures off the beaten track, where remoteness is still pristine.

The subscription is unfortunately necessary to cover the ongoing costs of the new map and server infrastructure behind Maps3D Neo. We decided not to simply remove features from the old app, but to build a new version that we can continue developing and maintaining long-term. If you only use Maps3D occasionally, you may prefer our one-year pass without automatic renewal instead of a monthly subscription. It gives you access to all features for a full year without committing to a recurring payment. We appreciate that this is a significant change, and we’re sorry that the new model no longer works for you.

Recording not an option
Now the most recent update has disallowed me to record my hikes unless I get the monthly paid subscription.
Not cool, not appropriate. I’d rather have fewer maps etc. Will look for an alternative.

Schade - Qualität der neuen Version unzureichend
Diese Woche hat sie mich zum ersten Mal im Stich gelassen. Auf einer Mountainbiketour wollte ich einen GPX-Track öffnen und fahren. Hier wurde ich mit dem neuen Abomodell konfrontiert und konnte das unterwegs nicht lösen. Eine Vorwarnung wäre gut gewesen. Spontan musste ich auf eine andere App umsteigen.
Nach Abschluss des Probeabos bin ich auf mehrere Probleme gestoßen:
Einige Konfigurationen musste ich mühsam wieder herstellen.
Die Zoomsymbole (+ -) kann ich zwar einblenden sie haben aber keine Funktion. Das ist lästig während der Fahrt.
Den Positionscursor kann ich zwar konfigurieren er ändert sich aber nicht.
Die Pfeile für die Fahrtrichtung kann ich zwar in der Konfiguration aktivieren, sie erscheinen aber nicht in der Karte. Das ist für mich ein KO-Kriterium.
Von den neuen Funktionen finde ich hilfreich dass jetzt mehrere Tracks parallel angezeigt werden können.
Wichtiger wäre mir aber, dass die alten Funktionen wieder laufen. So kann ich die App nur noch bedingt nutzen.
