Initially, I did not get a response to several emails I had sent with questions and I only heard back when I left a review. They said they did not receive my emails. I sent them screenshots showing my emails sent to them. Didn’t get a response to that. Okay, now that they answered my questions: Can I have the icon for a location be both a color and an image by default so when I create new pins, then I don’t have to keep recreating the wheel. No plan to do this. Asked about a select all pins option (to make changes to pins) - don’t have but may at some point in the future. But my largest issue was when I was in the Palouse region (SW Washington) for one week, I had several instances where my pins completely disappeared from the map, and I had no idea where I was going and had to use street maps for navigation (like in the good old days). This is what their website says about offline maps: “If you're abroad or in an area without a network, your Map remains accessible even without an Internet connection”. I definitely did not experience that. I think to get true offline you need something more substantial than an app. Overall it is a bit better than the app I came from that lost pins of mine. I honestly say you should not trust any third party with your pins, back up on Google Maps or a spreadsheet. I learned that the hard way. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2026-06-27, version 4.4.6* I have been using mapstr for about a month now, and my biggest issue is that their Support does not in any way, shape or form respond to issues. I have sent two separate issues to their support and I never received a response. It’s been about three weeks now and nothing. The other big issue for me is Mapstr claims that its maps can be used off-line, as long as you were connected to an Internet connection before going into areas with no cell service. This is absolutely not true. I spent a week in the Palouse region in Washington and we lost connection several times to the point where I could not see where we were and had to use other maps to navigate. I’m looking at alternatives now. The icons, while limited, are great too. My main gripe is that the addresses and places on the map are sometimes incorrect. There is a button to report, but I have reported multiple places, some multiple times, and I have never seen one corrected. This makes me not want to pay for the app. ### 3/5 — Bugs récurrents *2026-02-04, version 4.4.0* Tout d’abord, il faut dire que je suis absolument fan du concept de cette appli. Mais ces derniers temps je constate de plus en plus de bug. Ce soir par exemple il m’est impossible d’ouvrir l’application qui crash instantanément, assez régulièrement quand je suis dans l’interface permettant de rechercher autour de moi des restaurant l’application ne tient pas et finit par se fermer toute seule,de même beaucoup de restaurant que j’ajoute sont localisés sur la carte pas du tout à leur adresse…. Pour une application gratuite ce sont des choses qui s’entende, mais dans la mesure où l’abonnement mensuel est quasiment à 8€ (ce qui est TRÈS cher pour une application mobile), ça me fait hésiter à la supprimer. Je sais qu’il existe une « offre annuelle moins cher », mais débourser 59€ d’un coup ce n’est pas toujours possible ### 4/5 — Pour + de 300 adresses faut payer *2025-12-30, version 4.3.8* Interface simple à comprendre, plutôt complète et concept ouf par contre payer un abonnement plutôt cher au mois si on veut enregistrer + de 300 adresses... mais foncez si vous êtes sûre d'en enregistrer bcp moins. Mapstr is fantastic *2025-12-27, version 4.3.8* Okay so initially I was thinking about an app that could pin locations I want to go to and I asked Chatgpt about an app that could work like that. Then I found this and it exceeds my expectations. Im pretty sure I can even see if a restaurant has free tables if I wanted to! This app has so many amazing features. Ora si è riempita di popup e ha costi assurdi in abbonamento!! Si torna ad usare altro purtroppo..mi rifarò la mia mappa di più di 500 locali su Google o mappe di Apple.. Avessero deciso per un costo una tantum l’avrei acquistata ma sono caduti anche loro nella moda degli abbonamenti a prezzi folli. Peccato perché era da 10 stelle Risposta: 5€ al mese(con abbonamento annuale altrimenti sono di più) per salvare locali su una mappa sono troppi a mio avviso viste sopratutto le alternative gratuite. You also can’t turn off the google locations from this app - so on top of any locations you saved, a bunch of needless Google “Points of Interest” clog your screen. Additionally, I selected the free trial and it charged me $50. I reached out to Mapstr within minutes of it charging me $50 and they ignored my support request. ### 1/5 — Cannot access list without paying *2026-01-25, version 4.3.8* As mentioned on many other reviews, you now cannot access your list or click anything on the map without the paywall jumping up - very disappointing! Cut my losses and deleted my account. ### 1/5 — Decepcionante *2025-12-27, version 4.3.8* Lo que era una aplicación útil para guardar sitios se ha convertido en un ejemplo perfecto de cómo arruinar algo por pura avaricia. Maps decide, de la noche a la mañana, que si tienes más de 300 sitios guardados —algo totalmente normal si llevas tiempo usando la app— te bloquea y te chantajea para que pases por caja. ¿La broma? 60 € al año. Ni funciones nuevas, ni mejoras reales, ni valor añadido. Solo pagar para seguir usando lo que ya era tuyo. Es especialmente repugnante porque castigan precisamente a los usuarios fieles, los que más han usado la app. No es un modelo “freemium”, es un peaje forzado: o pagas o te quedas inutilizado. No puedes añadir ni un sitio más. Punto. Esto no es innovación, es sacar dinero a presión. Una decisión torpe, codiciosa y profundamente irrespetuosa con los usuarios. I travel a Lot for biz and it was the best app where i can save places, restaurants and bars i visited. I shared it also with many friends. Now everything is for pay, really everything. See a friend map? Subscription. Add another place? Subscription. I have to pay, that’s it. 50eur Per year, for what? I totally understand maintaing costs but at least having valuable features. Totally useless app now. So so sad ### 1/5 — No longer viable in the market *2025-11-16, version 4.3.8* For a while, I thought this was a useful way of saving places I wanted to visit, so made lists over a period of time that I found helpful; but now I’m being told I can’t access my lists unless I pay am inflated fee. Fair enough, it’s a business - I get it. It’s frustrating of course but understandable. My only criticism is that I would have preferred that you let me get access to my list before I cancel my subscription so I can replicate the list on Google Maps but so be it. ### 1/5 — Great app turned mediocre for profit *2025-10-09, version 4.3.7* The app used to be amazing, I started using it over 7 years ago and have been loving it bf adding new places to try every time I travel. But noticing the recent changes (subscriptions, limited amount of pinned places and the numerous crashes when using the app), it feels like freemium users are being pushed out. It’s truly disappointing and I’ll probably start using another app soon. [Replying to the app developers’ response]: while i understand the need to cover the costs of the maintenance and development of the app, I don’t appreciate receiving the pop-up window to subscribe as often as it does. While it seems to have reduced, it used to show up at nearly every action I made on the app. Regarding what I consider mediocre, yes, I do not like the fact that I’m now limited in the number of locations I can add. I had to delete some of my old ones to add new ones in preparation of my trip. I also think the cost required to unlock more options is too high for the value of this app. Moreover, regarding the technical issues: I’ve noticed that sometimes the app doesn’t let me zoom in as much as it should on the map; some of the pins do not display their names (which should be normal when two of them are close from each other), but it doesn’t let me click on them to check them out. When I go to the list to check their name and click on one of them, the app just freezes and closes on its own. Da es nur ein Abomodell gibt, kommt die App für mich nicht mehr in Frage. ### 1/5 — Subscription pricing is not worth it *2025-09-12, version 4.3.7* I had been using this app for years, recommending it to friends, and generally loved the features. The one functionality complaint I initially had was that it doesn’t show a dot or even general area of where you are so it is harder to see proximity to your pins. But I understand it’s not a maps app so fair. Now, with being charged a subscription to add pins over 300, I will switch back to Google Maps and saving pins in my lists there. I understand that this is a product and needs to be profitable, but a subscription model is so disappointing. If there was a one time payment, I would do that in a heartbeat and I would be willing to pay a decent amount if it was a one-time fee. But with subscriptions these days, there is no guarantee that the model won’t change or prices will be hiked in the future. So while I can easily afford the current pricing, I don’t want to risk losing my pins when the payment models change and I can no longer justify a monthly/yearly charge for an app when there are free alternatives available.
