## What is Mares App?

APPLE WATCH ULTRA DIVE COMPUTER
Transform your Ultra into a dive computer. Record dives directly on your wrist and sync automatically to the Mares App. (In-app purchase required.)

DIGITAL LOGBOOK: Log your Scuba, Freediving, Extended Range and Rebreather (SCR/CCR) dives in seconds via Bluetooth. Easily share your dives via QR code. Add new dives with your device’s GPS and download your dives from selected dive computers (1*).

DIVE SITES: With the help of the Mares dive site database, you can immediately assign a dive site to your logged dives. You can also add your own private dive sites and share them with your dive buddies using a QR code. You can download your dive data directly from selected Mares dive computers .

WILDLIFE: A variety of local wildlife is already stored in the app for individual dive sites. This means you can immediately assign the highlights of your underwater encounters to your logged dives. Your sightings are displayed on your personal world map.

DIVE BUDDIES: Easily add your dive buddies via QR code or manually in the app. Share your best dives and most exciting animal encounters with friends using the Mares app.

STATISTICS: All your dives and data can be seen at a glance, including your longest or deepest dive, your average dive time and more!

DIGITAL EQUIPMENT: Store important dive equipment details, including serial numbers, photos and invoices. Enter maintenance dates and keep track of when your equipment needs to be serviced.

NEWS AND VIDEOS: Stay up-to-date with all the latest news and videos from the world of water sports and diving.

FIRMWARE: When you connect your dive computer to the app, you will be able to confirm if you have the latest firmware. As soon as it is outdated, you will receive a message regarding the newest firmware to download.

I am extremely disappointed with this app and the overall experience. It came highly recommended by other divers, which is why I chose it, but unfortunately it has not lived up to those expectations.

From the beginning, I’ve been unable to get my Apple Watch Ultra to sync properly with the app. As a result, none of my dives are being logged, which defeats one of the primary reasons I downloaded and purchased this setup. I’ve spent a significant amount of time troubleshooting the issue on my own, trying every solution I could find, yet nothing has resolved the problem.

What has been even more frustrating is the complete lack of customer support. I reached out to support via email, clearly explained the issue, and never received a response—not even an acknowledgment that my request had been received. When users experience technical issues, especially with an app that’s relied upon for dive logging, timely communication should be a priority. Even a brief email letting customers know the issue is being investigated would go a long way.

I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand that technical problems can happen. However, when those problems are combined with little or no customer support, it becomes difficult to recommend the product. Reliability and customer service are just as important as the features themselves.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend using this app with the Apple Watch Ultra. I sincerely hope the developers improve both the app’s stability and their customer support, because right now the experience has been frustrating and disappointing.

Update: I finally received a reply from support and the solution worked temporarily.  I logged 8 dives this past weekend and my app plus watch only logged 3 dives.  Lucky I had my backup computer on as well!  All I’m asking is for the app to work exactly as you stated!!!!!!  I do not like being dry!

**Developer response:** Air integration is not possible. The hardware is provided by Apple and it does not include the possibility to connect a pressure transmitter.

Insgesamt eine sehr gute App, die mir zusammen mit der Apple Watch Ultra besser gefällt als die Konkurrenz. Lediglich der Sync des Logbuches ist Käse und das Bearbeiten im Logbuch fehlt. Manchmal werden Tauchgänge geloggt und beendet bevor man abtaucht. Gleiches wenn man im Pool ist. Ansonsten geht es in die richtige Richtung. Die App fragt zwar das Recht an Workouts in Apple Health zu schreiben, tut dies aber nicht.

Die App ist für mich gut gestaltet und ausreichend mit Funktionen ausgestattet.

Die vollen 5 Sterne würde die App von mir bekommen wenn folgende Punkte noch nachgereicht würden:

1) Logbuch-Datenexport in ein Format, das auch andere Logbuch-Apps oder -Software am PC nutzt.

2) Tauchcomputer-Handbuch ( z.B. Puck 4) fehlen in der App. Nur die Anleitung zur Apllewatch ist da.

3) Probleme bei Firmware-Update. Sollen wohl behoben sein. Kann ich aber mangels neuer Firmware nicht testen.

Leider startet die App auch bei mir seit einiger Zeit nicht mehr.  Auch nach Neustart der App oder Neustart des Handys nicht…  ist denn schon absehbar, wann das Problem behoben wird?

### 3/5 — Mit der Apple Watch Ultra noch deutlich Luft nach oben

Ich habe diese App dieses Jahr das erste Mal genutzt, da ich froh war, dass ein europäische Hersteller auch mal solch eine App entwickelt hat. Ich hatte die Hoffnung schnell und einfach die Daten in meine SSI App zu laden. Für den ersten Aufschlag ist die App in Ordnung. Nur das Logbuch im Smartphone macht das ganze Ärger. Synchronisation laufen nicht sauber. Ich habe bis jetzt noch keine Zeit gespart, da die Einträge ständig korrigiert werden müssen. Schwimmen im Swimmingpool werden als Tauchgänge erkannt, um gekennzeichnet. Diese lassen sich schwer löschen. Und am Ende wird das ganze Logbuch mit falschen Informationen befüllt.  Tauchgänge im Pool sollten sich auf der Uhr einfach löschen lassen. Und am Ende wird nur das synchronisiert was auch wirklich ein Tauchgang war. In sechs Wochen habe ich meinen nächsten Tauchgang. Hier werde ich auf den alten Anbieter erst mal zurückgreifen. Ggf. braucht es hier noch 2, 3 Updates bis es rund läuft. Der Ansatz finde ich aber trotzdem gut.
