### 4/5 — Fantastic

*2024-04-24, version 1.1.0*

4 stars for sound. 1 point missing because workflow is hindered. Having certain controls spread across different pages makes it feel awkward

### 4/5 — Sounds great, maybe cpu/dsp hogging a bit?

*2024-03-29*

Occasionally when running Mariana within AUM, the DSP meter will spike to 100% causing audio glitches and dropouts. In one instance AUM threw an error that said “bad signal” and stopped audio. This seems to happen when browsing certain presets or switching between the panels of the synth. I have never experienced this with other Moog apps.

### 4/5 — BASS!

*2024-02-15*

This app sounds great. I haven’t really tried making my own patches yet and tbh it is a bit intimidating with all the modulation options, but there are a lot of super usable presets that come with it and I love the sound.

One quibble: if you want Background Audio on for the standalone version, for some reason the app NEVER saves this setting. Not sure why… it’s really the only setting under Configuration I need to change so I tried changing a few others, closing the app and re-opening to see if it was an issue across all the settings… it’s not! It just won’t save Background Audio as on. Should be fixed.

Another quibble: dang this is a very CPU-hungry synth. I run a 2018 iPad Pro so it’s not exactly the latest tech, but when I add an instance of Mariana in AUM or Loopy Pro, the DSP % goes up by like 30-40%… waaaaay more than any other synth I own (including the other Moogs).

But it sounds so good!

### 4/5 — Feels like a few extras would be nice

*2023-12-14*

I’m enjoy the synth, but I’d like the feedback that the model D has as well as being able to have the Animoog keyboard in the AUv3 - it’s nice to feed notes from this keyboard into other AUv3 synths. I don’t see the MIDI output listed either in AUM, so I hope it’ll come.

**Developer response:** Hi Jo,

We're so glad you're enjoying Mariana. We have an update in the works to allow the keyboard to be shown in the AUv3 version, please be on the lookout for that in the next few weeks. Mariana creates a virtual MIDI device on the iPad like our other synths, you should see it appear in AUM both as a virtual input and output.

### 4/5 — my second favorite Moog after Animoog Z

*2023-12-12*

This is ok, but it sounds a little flat for Moog and there’s some noticeable filter aliasing going on, which is not something I go out of my way to notice as a relative simpleton. Not a surefire 10/10 like their others.

**Developer response:** Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. We take great care and pride in our virtual filter design. The model is several times oversampled with predictive mathematical models to eliminate aliasing that have been refined since the Model 15 app. Maybe what you're hearing is interharmonic distortion? Those can happen at certain frequencies with specific resonance settings and gain staging setups. If there is a reproducible filter scenario you feel is causing aliasing and you want us to take a closer look, please feel free to contact us at appsupport@moogmusic.com with a preset and audio/video recordings so that we can evaluate exactly what you're hearing.

### 5/5 — 😎k Let’s get funky

*2023-12-12*

Did not know about this until today. Glad Moog is on iPad and I’m digging it, will be stacking my sounds to achieve Parliament-Funkadelics, Roger Troutman, Bernie Worrel sounds! That’s also what Moog was famous for in the 70s-80s, so please keep that in mind and give us that funk in the future in update sound kits, and you will keep my business ✌🏿😎

### 5/5 — Musical & state-of-the-art

*2023-12-11*

I only wish it would drop the skeuomorphic UI. This is a modern pro tool, no need to simulate old hardware looks. At least give us a pro skin.

Nevertheless, this thing is so musical, and fun to work with. Big big thanks to the team at Moog. <3

### 4/5 — Great sound

*2023-12-09*

Excellent sound, it's a shame that a "beast" like this doesn't have a sequencer...

### 5/5 — Moog Hit It Outta The Park With This Synthi Beast!

*2023-12-08, version 1.0.1*

Such a pleasure and a real joy to use. I am having have endless fun with it. Everytime I use it I get blown away...so deep, so very, very deep! I am diggin it! Thank you Moog for this early Christmas gift-Merry Christmas to Moog! Cheers, Elektrik Diva

### 5/5 — Fat

*2023-12-08, version 1.0.0*

Maybe my fav soft synth yet

### 4/5 — Early Impressions, major flaw

*2023-12-07*

Over all this seems like an incredible synth, but there appears to be no way to use its native keyboard in AUM? It can obviously be played by other MPE capable midi plugins but that requires additional configuration and often idiosyncratic changes to the sound from the keyboard in the native app. Would be great to not only have access to the keyboard in resizable plugin window, but to be able to load it standalone as a midi processor. While using standalone the expressiveness of this synth is its greatest feature.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback Jubal,

We're evaluating enabling the keyboard in the plugin and making it collapsible. Please be on the lookout for it in a future update.

### 1/5 — Not sure if reported bugs will ever get fixed?

*2025-12-03, version 1.2.0*

Not long after using this app I started to discover bugs such as not able to save or load Midi Maps, constantly changing buffer size and not able to export presets. Communication with the developers is good but I am still waiting for these bugs to be fixed after 8 months and as a result I cannot to use this app until the ongoing bugs have been fixed. In stand-alone mode sometimes the notes stick when using the virtual keyboard rendering it unusable.

5th April.
I hesitated for a long while trying to decide whether to buy this app or not, I took the plunge and bought it, but I never expected to be blown away by all its features and out of this world sounds, even the Darleks would hide if the heard some of these presets. My 13” iPad Air M2 handles it well in terms of CPU usage.
My best purchase ever, can’t go wrong with Moog 👌

### 1/5 — Disappointing noise on my older iPad

*2024-07-21*

Horribly disappointing. Even though the App Store says it’s compatible with my 4th generation iPad mini, I get horrible static and drop outs. Unless I’m not running any other apps and set it to the lowest audio sample rate. I feel like I wasted my money.

### 1/5 — Des enveloppes molles,dommage

*2024-07-20*

### 1/5 — Won’t start, crash loop

*2024-02-17*

It won’t start on a 4th gen iPad Pro. Just shows the logo screen and then crashes. Anyone else have this problem?

**Developer response:** Hi ebium,

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing problems. Could you please contact us at appsupport@moogmusic.com so that we can help track down why this is happening for you.

### 3/5 — Much too CPU hungry - But sounds great

*2023-12-17*

I use it on an iPad Pro - 12.9 - 3rd gen. - in the AUM app, and it needs nearly 20% more CPU then the Model 15 app.

Sounds amazing, but my fun starts with good effect plugins and as it looks, the limit is always in sight with mariana loaded. sad but true.

Maybe you guys could review the code?
Merry xmas. 💕

**Developer response:** Hi maschroom,

Thanks for your feedback, Mariana is a lot more powerful than the Model 15 app, it essentially has more than twice the amount of processing requirements for the synth topology, and that's excluding the modulation. We are always improving and optimizing our products and have already identified some optimizations that will improve the performance of Mariana. Please be on the lookout for future updates as we gradually roll those improvements out.

### 3/5 — No in-app recording?

*2023-12-07*

This is the first Moog app I’ve experienced that doesn’t have a built-in recorder inside the app. That’s about as basic as it gets for these type of apps and I’m baffled on why it wasn’t included.

**Developer response:** Hi BeyondB,

When we introduced in-app recording in the first Animoog 12 years ago there were no other solutions available. Nowadays there are so many great recording tools, hosts and DAWs with wonderful features that we decided to leave that functionality to them.

### 4/5 — Sounds

*2026-03-03, version 1.2.0*

Sounds good using Lfo nice sound

### 4/5 — Deep

*2025-12-31, version 1.2.0*

It sounds really good. But, hold on Moog, no presets for a Taurus emulation? Getting close is possible, but come on developers, you’re missing a huge trick there. This thing should be shaking the walls.

### 4/5 — Immense sound with caveats

*2024-12-29, version 1.2.0*

This synth sounds amazing but will not run on an gen five iPad at anything above 32000Khz sample rates. You might have to keep resetting this which gets annoying fast. Worse still, if you try to run other synths or connect via inter app audio you might not be able to lower the sample rate as it will reset to 44.1 and will crackle and pop in an uneseable way.
However, the sound is still awesome even at lower sample rates and blows the iMS-20 away for deep bass which surprised me as that synth is no lightweight. Worth the hassle and probably only an issue on older iPads.

### 4/5 — Great synth, missing some key features

*2024-07-07*

Great synth overall. It is feature packed, works well with the other Moog iOS apps with regards to the virtual patching capabilities, and sounds amazing. I appreciate the inclusion of two synths and all the effects one could desire.

The only quarrels I have are with MIDI and sync capabilities pertaining to the iPad version. I was bummed to see Mariana missing Ableton link, as well as the ability to recognize multiple MIDI inputs (like Animoog Z). I realize there is a desktop version and I own it, but I am use the iPad as an instrument feeding directly into my mixer. I found a workaround for using multiple MIDI inputs via MidiFire, but would really appreciate the ability to sync the standalone iOS version of Mariana to an external clock (Ableton, in my case).

### 5/5 — Like a digital Minitaur plus

*2025-10-02*

I love how phat and nasty this thing sounds. It does use some CPU, but I like to mix it with hardware synths, so I'm not trying to run several soft synths on my older iPad. I wish it was available on phone too, but lots of options and I can kind of grasp how to build patches.

### 5/5 — An amazing synth

*2025-05-29*

The sound is fantastic1

### 5/5 — Powerful synth with great sounds!

*2025-04-15*

There's a lot to like about Mariana. First and foremost, the sound. The sounds and tone are great!

### 5/5 — WOW, BEST SYNTH ON iOS 👌

*2025-04-05, version 1.2.0*

I hesitated for a long while trying to decide whether to buy this app or not, I took the plunge and bought it, but I never expected to be blown away by all its features and out of this world sounds, even the Darleks would hide if the heard some of these presets. My 13” iPad Air M2 handles it well in terms of CPU usage.
My best purchase ever, can’t go wrong with Moog 👌

### 5/5 — Review after 1 year

*2024-12-02, version 1.2.0*

+ the best analog sound on iOS.
- it uses too many resources . Being a 2 layered synth makes it worse cos there doesn’t seem a way to disable the 2nd synth (which I rarely use).
- the modulation options are not so great. There’s no form of audio rate modulation: no FM, no ring mod, no AM, and the LFOs are so slow. A switch to make the LFOs fast would help.
Still 5 stars cos the sound is pure analog pleasure.

### 5/5 — Bass and so much more…

*2024-11-04*

I’ve been iPad SY thing since 2013 with Animoog and have many hundreds of synth apps. A few stick out and stay prominently in use. This one is one of the newer ones so might still be a “honeymoon” effect, but fantastic presets and a fun, intuitive UI to tweak ‘em, this has been my first pick lately for drones and strange noises and of course, BASS.

It’s difficult to pinpoint why, but Mariana just sounds so good and is so easy to manipulate that it just works in my mixes like few others.

### 5/5 — Thick, Deep, Powerful Sound

*2024-07-20*

Once Again, Moog have knocked it out of the ballpark with this one. Something I have been missing on iOS for a long time is proper sounding sub bass, and as a result I collected a few apps promising to do it - Mariana has just replaced every single one.

I’ve been surfing the presets and they sound brilliant, can’t wait to get digging into creating my own patches from scratch.

### 5/5 — Moog midi controller¿

*2024-06-05*

I have been using all but the Model 15 for a while now, including the Mooger Fooger apps, Model D, and Animoog. Mariana is exceptional for me, because it didn’t break the bank to have a powerful bass synth. Eventually I may own a physical synth, but with Mariana’s interface and power house sounds, I may not ever need it. What I would love to see Moog come out with is a midi controller with all the knobs and keys that we would need for Animoog, Mariana, the Moogerfoogers, Model D, Model 15, etc. Then we would have the physical touch to work with. Maybe it could even be similar to a Sub 37 in form factor, or Animoog, with a placement for the ipad? Just food for thought.

### 5/5 — Super

*2024-06-02*

Wow! Great App ! Deep fat Sounds ! Just love it !

### 5/5 — New update

*2024-02-03*

Enjoying it a lot more with with the 24db slope option for tighter punchier bass. A nice analog sounding synth with its own character.
Would have been nice some sort of audio rate (FM or fast LFOs) but can’t have it all. CPU usage got better but hope there’s further optimisations to come.
There’s a few bugs here and there: presets not reloading sounding correctly with the right slope, noise volume sometimes goes super quiet etc…seems readjusting a few parameters gets it all back sounding correctly.

**Developer response:** Hi simlogue, glad you're liking the oscillators.

We felt that the current filter topology is balanced in this architecture, but this is only the start of a great journey for Mariana, we'll definitely evaluate how to expand what the filters are capable of.
