## What is Maritrack Marine Traffic?

This is a real-time marine traffic and vessel tracking app for anyone who needs an accurate, live picture of what is happening on the water — whether you are tracking a specific ship, monitoring a port, planning a passage or simply following maritime traffic out of professional habit or personal interest.
Five operational sections. Everything you need to read the sea.
SECTION 1 – VESSEL MAP
The live foundation of the app — everything starts here. Open the Vessel Map to see real-time AIS positions of ships, tankers, cargo vessels, ferries and recreational boats plotted on an interactive chart. Zoom into any area, filter by vessel type and tap any icon to pull up the ship's current status, speed, heading and destination at a glance.
Use this section when you want an immediate answer to where a specific vessel is right now — or when you simply want to see how busy a stretch of water currently is.
SECTION 2 – REAL-TIME AIS TRACKING
The engine behind every position on the map. AIS data updates continuously so every vessel position, course and speed reflects the actual current state — not a cached snapshot from minutes ago. Track individual vessels in real time, follow their route as it develops and monitor changes in speed or heading as they happen.
Use this section when you are tracking a specific ship on a specific route and need the data to stay current throughout the journey.
SECTION 3 – SHIP INFO
Deep information on any vessel you select. Tap any ship on the map or search by name, IMO number or MMSI to open its full profile: vessel type, flag, dimensions, build year, current operator and voyage history. See where the ship has been, where it is heading and what its current port of call is.
Use this section when you need more than a position — when you need to know what you are looking at and why it is where it is.
SECTION 4 – WEATHER
Conditions layered directly over the maritime picture. Check current and forecast weather for any point on the map — wind speed and direction, wave height, visibility and pressure — so you can read traffic patterns in context. A vessel holding position outside a port makes more sense when you can see the weather it is waiting out.
Use this section when you are planning a passage, assessing risk in a specific area or trying to understand why traffic in a zone looks the way it does.
SECTION 5 – PORT DETAILS AND TRAFFIC
Full operational picture of any port in view. Select any port to see its current traffic — inbound, at anchor, at berth and recently departed — alongside port details including location, facilities and contact information. Monitor whether a port is congested, quiet or actively receiving traffic before a vessel arrives.
Use this section when you are coordinating arrivals, monitoring port activity or planning logistics around specific terminals and facilities.
All five sections share the same live data layer — so the ship you identify in Section 3, the weather you check in Section 4 and the port traffic you review in Section 5 all reflect the same real-time operational picture at the same moment.
