It does everything it claims and more. When I’m in the field, I use it many times per day. In addition to previsulization, it functions as a notebook for scouting potential shots. The gps function enables return to the precise location. I always use it to locate and set my initial tripod position. The map function could be enhanced with the addition of a direction indicator. I have relied on this app to help me check the composition With various lenses in these formats for years and it has saved me a lot of time and even wasted film. In regards to the latter, if I were to go through the motions of setting up something like my 8x10 view camera, I might be inclined to expose a couple of sheets of film even though the image may not be as refined as I want. But it seemed to do exactly what I needed and the other reviews were good so I bought it. I am extremely impressed. I use it to scout for shooting locations. I can see what different cameras look like with different lenses. Seeing that I purchased this app to scope out what 24mm wide shots would look like for a location scouting it was useless. My battery also drained from 30% to dead in 20 minutes of using on a new iPhone 6s Plus that has not had that problem with other apps. Would like a refund ### 2/5 — Still no iPhone 6 support? *2014-11-20* Purchased the app a couple of months ago - before the iPhone 6 note appeared on the description in the AppStore - still waiting for the promised update. Very disappointing for a premium priced app... **Developer response:** Please bear in mind that we do not receive new devices in advance, we have to stand in the line with everyone else. And after receiving new devices, some time is required if we need to update the app to fully support any new iPhone or iPad - which was the case with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Mark II Artist's Viewfinder supports iPhone 6 and 6 Plus since version 4.0. Since version 4.1 the app works with new iPhone and iPad devices utilizing iOS provided angle-of-view data - there's no need to wait for an update. ### 4/5 — Z-Cam E2-F6 is missing *2020-11-28* This app is good but unfortunately don’t have any Z-cam flagship in its virtual camera setting. I hope they add this soon. Many filmmakers are using this cinema camera now. **Developer response:** You can add any camera, even if it's not in the app's database, using either "generic" equipment or the "custom camera" feature. Using generic equipment is described on pages 41-42, and creating custom cameras is discussed on pages 42-45 of the Viewfinder Handbook (free download from https://www.artistsviewfinder.com/handbook/). But of course your request to add these cameras is noted. ### 4/5 — Great App! *2019-01-08* A very useful app for people like me shooting with large format cameras. Best tool for location scouting and checking lenses. Only thing I miss is the possibility to write notes to a frame. Otherwise, that's a great tool ! ### 4/5 — Flip option *2017-02-09, version 5.0* Handy app. It would also be useful to be able to flip the view horizontally and upside down, especially when using large and medium format finders. ### 4/5 — Nearly Perfect *2014-12-21* This is exactly what we are looking for at our photography studio to allow the stylist to stage a product/setting prior to the photographers arrival, saving a lot of time. The only missing feature that would be a HUGE help is custom aspect ratios or a custom overlay so that we can visualize a clients crop requirements. Being able to see both the camera aspect ratio and an overlay of a custom crop size would be fantastic. ### 4/5 — Tool for Architectural Photographers *2014-02-10, version 3.1* I am using the MIIAV with the ALPA ACAM converter and it really works providing me with a useful tool to scout projects adjusting my compositions by simulating to image to match each of my lenses and camera back combinations. ### 5/5 — Worth the price! *2025-02-02* While it may seem expensive, this is a fantastic way to scout/preview images. Maybe as a separate Fn button, or by long hold of the BW button (this would interfere with the current functionality), or let the menu always appear on tap, or on double tap. And maybe B&W film simulations (or custom color sensitivity settings), but I have to admit that this might be a bit complicated.
