### 2/5 — Needs rubric

I really like the interface on the web. I use it mainly for observation and formative data collecting. I’ll set up a rubric with general behaviors I want to track: preparation, participation, following discussion protocols etc...  the app doesn’t help me save any time without accessing a rubric. With over 155 students, and very little prep time, I can’t be scrolling through pictures and block text to figure out who was doing what for the day, nor do I have time to type comments about every student in class.

Capture a wide variety of data from students: assessment grades, quick notes and photos. The developers are actively developing the app with every update. Give it a try. Give your feedback if you would like to see additional features; the team at Chalk really does consider feedback.

**Developer response:** Hi Myron, in the latest version of the app we have added the ability to add graded assessments directly from the app. The crashing issue has also been resolved. Please let us know if you have any further issues!

On the iPad, it is not easy to create a new assessment or to input the grades as it keeps switching to letters and not staying on numbers.

**Developer response:** Hi there, on more recent versions of the app we’ve added the ability to change the Grade Display setting (so you can switch between letter, number, and percent). Please let us know if you have any questions about this!

### 1/5 — No filter options, just not great.

It does not give me any options to filter grades.  I need to see a student’s quarter grades but it only give me the overall.  The app itself seems to have no real helpful features, really not representative of a company that would want to offer something for teachers in 2019.

### 2/5 — Missing key functions of online version, crashes a lot

I’m not able to type in grades quickly in the mobile version. I have to click on the individual student and then wait for the grade page to pop up, enter a grade for that one student, then click back out to the full roster. For rubric assessments, it does not display the rubric so those can’t be scored on my iPad or phone. I am still opening Markboard in my browser and using the fully functional browser based version instead. I just don’t get what this app is supposed to do better than the browser version. Also, the app crashes all the time—every time I tap the three dots in the upper right corner of a screen.

We have released a number of updates since the first version of the app, and our goal is to make the app fully functional. In terms of grading students, one thing you can do is swipe between students in the grade entry screen to make this process faster. With this update we have officially discontinued Markboard. First and foremost, thank you for your continued support of PowerSchool and our mission as we bring Chalk into the PowerSchool family. Our priority has been, and remains, to provide you with best-in-class solutions. This new chapter for Curriculum & Instruction, formerly Chalk, brings with it a very exciting opportunity to provide a holistic solution for schools and educators that works hand in hand with the rest of the Personalized Learning Cloud solutions PowerSchool offers. To remain focused on delivering a best-in-class experience, we must evaluate the capabilities and potential of each product to ensure we aren’t compromising the quality of our overall customer experience. 

 
After much consideration, we have determined that in order to maintain this focus, it is no longer feasible to maintain Markboard. Accordingly, we have decided to discontinue Markboard as of this update. Please know that PowerSchool is committed to continuing to support and invest in Curriculum & Instruction (formerly known as Chalk) and it is in no way affected by the discontinuation of Markboard.
