However, it does not include DMC Mouline colors. ### 3/5 — Fails to Refresh Purchase *2026-08-04* Old iPad died. Had to replace with a new iPad. I could open the app and see the green check mark which shows I purchased a subscription but the app would not refresh my purchase so that I could open my job to start marking up my stitches using the new iPad. My Apple Customer Service advised that it is a developer problem. However I was already in touch with this developer and they could not refresh my purchase. The said Apple Customer Support could handle my problem. I asked for a refund and I’ve lost months of work. I ended up canceling / deleting the App from my device. I re-installed Markup RXP to start a new subscription because it’s so user friendly to work with. I love how it works. ### 2/5 — So expensive *2026-07-03* I was enjoying this app, but suddenly locking everything behind a paywall of $30AUD a year is rediculous ### 4/5 — Blackwork, backstitch, fractional stitches and French knots *2026-06-19, version 0.8.72* I love how easy this app makes it to keep track of what I’m working on, but I would love it if there was some way to mark up blackwork patterns, backstitch, fractional stitches and French knots. I can fiddle it with patterns that include partial stitches, and even work out where basic backstitching and French knots go by adding the pattern to the Pictures tab as well as the Markup tab, but can’t mark them up. Blackwork is more complicated and I’d love to be able to track progress in the same way as I can track basic cross stitch. ### 3/5 — Subscription for No Updates *2026-05-30, version 0.8.72* Yeah, this app is probably the best in the iOS ecosystem, but paying for a subscription with no updates in two years is a joke. PDFs import blurry, the UX is a bit clunky, no real ability to detect fractional stitches is upsetting. So it works fine enough, but it’s disappointing to pay for access to something when it’s not actively getting better ### 5/5 — So Great for Cross-Stitch *2026-05-24, version 0.8.72* Markups-XP has changed my life and my joy of stitching. I am currently doing a project that has almost 50,000 stitches. When I printed out the pattern there were 37 sheets. So confusing. With MarkupR-XP it is so easy to see where you are and what you’ve completed. Otherwise the app is great! ### 5/5 — This sounds like hyperbole *2026-04-28, version 0.8.72* This may sound like hyperbole, but this app has absolutely changed the game for my cross stitching. It is wonderful! I can keep up with each stitch I have made and miss far fewer. The speed with which I work is so much higher, and that instant gratification in seeing a project come together is wonderful. Love this app. ### 2/5 — Good, not great *2026-04-22, version 0.8.72* This is an “ok” app for cross stitching. Yes, you can mark off the stitches you’ve done, but it’s missing some key functionality. 1) You can’t use gestures. If you’re in “markup” mode, you can’t use two fingers to move the pattern. You have to swap modes. If you forget, you end up either marking or unmarking lots of stitches. Frustrating! 2) You can’t upload parts of patterns or progress with existing patterns, for example with a stitch along. You should be able to export progress and apply it to a new file, or apply a new file to an existing one. 3) It doesn’t support back stitch, French knots, half stitches, and cross stitches with different thread counts, all of which are very common. There are other things too… but for me those are the most frustrating. It does a basic job for a simple PDF pattern, but if I have the choice I prefer to convert my files and use another app with a four letter name. I really hope the Markup RXP team or developer finds some time to make some changes and improve some of this basic functionality. They sent a detailed response including youtube videos and written instructions, along with a download which sorted the problem (which, by the way, was user error! 😊). So I decided to delete the project and start over. Can’t delete a project. It is straightforward to upload patterns, easy to mark them up and provides that sharp dopamine rush as you see the % completed creep upwards. The only fly in this wonderful ointment is what’s missing. I really wish there was some way to take the floss lists from more than one pattern and turn it into a consolidated shopping list. Basically I want the features I’m used to from the inventory management systems of manufacturing companies in the app I use for my hobby. I said it was a wish, but a girl can dream…. I only put this here because the app is very good at interpreting a variety of formats of floss lists and keys from the patterns uploaded. And it is simple to change one colour for another, if you want to. ### 5/5 — A game changer *2026-07-17, version 0.8.72* I used to copy and paste smaller areas of my patterns into PowerPoint making it easier for my old eyes to see the different thread codes after I enlarged them. Some of my patterns got to be 30 pages. My daughter showed me what she uses and insisted I use this. And am I glad she did! Click on the code I’m stitching and it’s highlighted so I just need to concentrate on it. It has wonderful functionality and the beauty is that you can load paper patterns which is all our family uses. I’ve been really struggling getting a large paper pattern loaded, so reached out to James for help. He was able to get the pattern loaded and helped my understanding along the way. James, thank you so much! Family members each have paid for the subscription for years and we agree, this is one of our most used apps. Thank you for allowing for us to vote for future enhancements.
