### 5/5 — Great app!

*2022-04-26, version 2022.5*

It does 1 thing and does it well. Lovely little utility to have on hand for when you need to mask a face(s) or something else.

### 5/5 — Such a fun app!

*2022-04-21, version 2022.4*

I was pleasantly surprised to have found this app to bring so much joy to existing photos! My kids love showing smoke (wind?) come out of their butts and make our pets looks like other animals.

### 5/5 — Great, and incredibly useful

*2022-04-15*

This definitely ranks in the top 3 Casey Liss apps.

It’s super useful, works near-instantly, and isn’t shady like Instagram (and really, Instagram isn’t where you should be editing anyway).

I don’t often need to hide faces in images, but sometimes I like to open an image I’m MaskerAid, just to see how it handles it… and I’m never disappointed.

### 5/5 — Fun for all

*2022-04-15, version 2022.4*

Quite a fun little app. Useful for actually obscuring faces for privacy reasons, but also for making fun photos as well.

### 5/5 — Brilliant!

*2022-04-14*

Fantastic app for making your pictures more private by auto-masking faces.

But it can be used for fun too, as you can add different emojis to cover whatever part of your picture you like!

Great app 😀

### 4/5 — So useful!

*2022-04-12, version 2022.4*

Amazing functionality, super useful, totally reasonable IAP. The bottom sheet is just a touch janky, and pinch to resize is super difficult if the initial emoji size is small. Overall terrific!

### 5/5 — Easily useful and powerful!

*2022-04-07*

If you’re out and about taking pictures of what’s happening around you, it’s nice to get permission before posting people’s faces even though they’re in public. Well, that’s also not always possible, so this helps you protect their privacy by obscuring their faces with emojis quickly and easily!

It’s simple and quick to add more emoji, move existing emoji around, resize emoji, and export the image in a snap!

This app also strips the metadata for the photo, so if privacy is paramount for you — and it should be — this app makes protecting your privacy and that if others in your photos a snap!

### 5/5 — So useful!

*2022-04-05, version 2022.4*

Would love for a feature to add a bunch of different emoji randomly to each face

### 5/5 — Works well

*2022-04-04, version 2022.4*

It just works. It always fill the need to cover someone’s face and that is what I need. Thanks Casey

### 5/5 — Super!

*2022-04-03, version 2022.4*

Polecam.

### 3/5 — Sorely missing photo zoom

*2022-04-03*

Emoji placement on hard mode!

Please add the ability to pinch in/out the photo to make emoji placement a whole lot less frustrating!

### 5/5 — SUPER SIMPLE AND HELPFUL!!!

*2022-04-02*

This app is a PRIME example of a super simple and well-crafted app that fulfills a need. As someone who cherishes their privacy immensely and does not want to post pictures of other people who may not want to have posted on the internet, this app is perfect!! Casey Liss is an amazing developer and as I am not surprised, he knocked it out of the ballpark again!! Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Casey made this

*2022-04-01*

Good idea implemented well.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Perf

*2026-03-14, version 2025.1*

In app purchases

### 1/5 — Good but flawed

*2025-08-17*

Good app and quite cheap. Does its job well - sometimes: if the faces are too small, the automatically added emojis are incredibly tiny which makes it - literally - impossible to select them.

Suggestions:
- allow to zoom in
- rotate image with iphone orientation (to make the image larger)
- have an option to NOT automatically add emojis
- maybe have a button tocycle through the emojis

EDIT:
Reduced to 1 star as I noticed that the app reduces the image size / quality significantly.

### 1/5 — Limitlissly Pointliss

don't buy this nonsense. he'll abandon it in a few months like he did his last two apps. his real money comes from begging on his podcast. and he spends that money on hardware he doesn't need so he can beg for more money. simplissly the worst.

edit: he hasn't updated this app since he released his new one. what happened to the logging to catch those squiggly bugs or whatever baby nonsense you're saying?

edit edit: finally an update, TWO YEARS LATER. and apparently the dev was putting watermark on paid photos? lol

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-04-27, version 2022.5*

This app is flawed in so many ways. I just want to stick an emoji on a face and be done with it. The app fails at this, which is basically everything that the app says it does.

### 2/5 — Mask

*2025-07-19*

Would be nice if there was an actual mask emoji?

### 2/5 — Promising but unusable

*2022-05-28*

I tried this on a preschool class of 10 kids and 2 adults. It detected 11 of the 12 faces 👍 …but it was all down hill from there.
1) The landscape photo took up just 1/3 of the screen with no way to zoom or scroll.
2) Emojis were all different sizes
3) There was no way to select the smallest ones to make them bigger, tap targets too small?
4) Positioning them correctly was next to impossible under my sausage fingers.
5) Resizing them was difficult and error prone.
6) No undo so if I did make one too small there was no way to undo it other than starting from scratch

I think fixing 1 would alleviate the other 5 problems. Adding 6 would be the icing on the cake

### 2/5 — No thank you

*2022-03-17, version 2022.3*

This app solves a problem that doesn’t exist in a way that, if everyone did it, would create a pretty distopic social media landscape

### 2/5 — Unnecessarily locked behind pay wall

*2022-03-04, version 2022.2*

Only a single smileyface emoji is available for free and any other emoji requires in app purchase; not custom emojis or anything, just generic emojis. Since there is no difference between the default emoji and any other emoji, this app feels like it’s locked down as a cash grab. Should be free for all generic emojis and IAP could be for custom or non-standard emoji support.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app for privacy!

*2026-06-13*

This app is just exceedingly well-made, and is really a gold standard of what little utility apps like this should be like. The interface is super easy to parts and understand, and changing the default emoji or adjusting the settings is breezy and obvious. I wish all apps were this simple and elegant.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2024-02-04, version 2022.7*

Fantastic app! Works perfectly!

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2023-09-04, version 2022.7*

Just as advertised. Happy user.

### 5/5 — Gave my kid confidence

*2023-04-27*

Just used the app again and it gave my kid confidence to share a photo publicly while preserving their privacy and safety. This gives people of all ages the opportunity to make choices about how their likeness is shared. Love it!

### 5/5 — Good app is good

*2023-03-12, version 2022.7*

This app is good. Obtain app so you have a good app. It does job. I am happy.

### 5/5 — Great app, happy to pay

*2022-11-07*

This app is super useful and to-the-point. I appreciate it doing one thing and doing it well, and not being a subscription or selling my data.

### 5/5 — Great idea and implementation

*2022-09-01*

Casey, your work is improving. UI looks better than “Peek-a-view” and the Contacts app you made.

### 5/5 — Fun and Easy

*2022-06-13, version 2022.5*

This is a great way to easily make photos anonymous to be shared.

### 5/5 — So simple so functional so perfect

*2022-05-20*

Does what it says on the tin and does it so well. Constantly finding new uses for it. Sometimes it’s really necessary. Sometimes it’s just an optional bit of modesty or anonymity that makes it easier to feel entirely ok sharing.

### 5/5 — Great photo tool

*2022-04-27*

Wasn’t sure if I needed this but checked it out anyways.

Then I needed to share some photos of my child and this made the entire process so much easier and intuitive.

Will be telling my child’s after school care folks about the app so they can post more photos of the children while respecting their privacy.
