### 2/5 — Could be so much better

*2026-06-20, version 4.8.0*

Timer works fine, that’s the important part. But the UX around the whole app is just bad. It hard to scan the list in My Times (why no search?), can’t bulk delete, can’t sort or group.
No separate utilities like the volume mixer.
Please take some time to improve the app, there’s so much potential here.

### 3/5 — Good overall

*2026-06-05, version 4.8.0*

Good app but turns music off while your using it

### 2/5 — Dilutions are no longer on the chart

*2025-05-17, version 4.6.0*

Dilutions used to be more clear and simple to pull up. The latest update is hopefully just a mistake as it now forces you to manually add them yourself to each mix.

### 3/5 — Missing lots of basica

*2025-03-30, version 4.5*

Great app if you use weird films. Where’s the Portra, Fuji 400H, Kodak Vision 3, Ektar and what not? For 11$ I think more film times should be here for the cost, especially readily available films.

### 2/5 — Not worth the price

*2025-01-07, version 4.5*

Dear App Developer, it would be fantastic if we could create our own timer instead of being limited to a set of developers based on the film I choose and a general configuration based on my preferences. However, this app is only for black-and-white film stock development, and doesn't help with color film (C41, E6, ECN2 and other) development. Regrettably, I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone due to it's limitations. In this app, you can only make minor adjustments to saved “favorite” processes, which is practically useless for many seeking to develope at home. I would like to see a development timer that allows me to add or remove a few stops from my development time. This tool is not worth the $8.99 USD I paid for. I’ve switched to another app which has most of my requested features called “Develop!” and it's FREE!!! Hopefully you can improve this application.

### 3/5 — How do you convert temperature to F.?

*2024-10-06, version 4.5*

And they say temperature extrapolation data is available, but how do you get to it? Great to have the massive chart in digital form, but for $8.99, the app is underbaked.

### 4/5 — Bonne appli

*2024-07-24*

Bon appli.

### 2/5 — Just use the online chart and your clock app, save your money!

*2024-03-12, version 4.5*

Lacking several film stocks, doesn’t seem to be a way to add them. Rigid interface, no ability to change or alter development steps or they’re times. Just a bundle of preset timers for $8 was a mistake. Just use the online chart and your clock app, save your money!

### 2/5 — May have wasted my money on this

*2022-12-24, version 4.5*

The online version of the Massive Dev Chart is very helpful, and I refer to it regularly, so I thought this app would be just as good. Maybe I’ve missed it somewhere in the settings, but I don’t see the option of setting the agitation to “continuous” like you can on the website. The instructions say you can modify your agitation preferences, but none of the options they provide are for “continuous”. Of course I can just deduct 15% from the normal times to achieve this using my free calculator app. But I paid $9 for this app to do that.

### 1/5 — Crashed during dev twice

*2022-05-19, version 4.4*

The app "crashes" (actually just went to a white screen and then back to the main menu, I never got the iOS crash message) occasionally. The first time this happened during fixing which isn't a big deal, but the second time was during dev and I lost the time, so my final development was off.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dark mode is broken

*2026-06-30, version 4.8.0*

In a recent update, when using the app in my dark room to develop sheet film, when I select, dark mode, there is still a bright white dynamic island where the mode selector is, contributing significant light pollution into my space. I’ve had to tape it off with black tape to make it usable. Why did you implement this? Is it a bug?!

### 1/5 — Dark mode no longer dark!

*2026-06-30, version 4.8.0*

In the darkroom, I rely on the ability to turn the screen of my iPhone to dark mode when using this app to time film development (sheet film, in trays). But in a recent update, there is now a large white “Dynamic Island” where the mode buttons are that cannot be turned dark, so there’s significant light pollution in my workspace when developing film, and I have to put black tape over that part of the screen!! WHY did you implement this?? Is it a bug or a “feature”??!

### 1/5 — GROSSE ARNAQUE

*2026-03-20*

### 1/5 — Put the dilutions back for HC110

*2025-11-25, version 4.6.0*

I paid for this because it had dilutions for HC110. It is now removed. If you don’t put the feature back in you owe people a refund.

### 1/5 — Fehlkauf!

*2025-10-14*

### 1/5 — No Color film

*2025-09-03, version 4.6.0*

Only black and white film

### 1/5 — New update has ruined great app

*2025-06-03, version 4.6.0*

I’ve had this app for nearly a decade. It has been a go to for my developing.

Last time I tried used the app to do a big bulk of sheet and roll film everything was fine. When using hc110 I got the dilution and also if I adjusted the amount of total solution the ratios of developer needed would change.

Now if you click hc110, you only see letters for the dilution type. What’s worse is the dilution section is bugged. You see the total solution and for dilution you only see stock. So the app is not reading the ratios.

All my old saved custom times and formulas are like before the update.

Sad as this is very useful. To much of a hassle to recommend now.

### 1/5 — update plz

*2025-05-04*

hmm

### 1/5 — Enttäuscht

*2025-01-26*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Très bien faite et très pratique

*2026-02-22*

### 5/5 — What gives?

*2026-01-02, version 4.6.0*

I don’t know what the bad reviews are about. Honestly, this app has met my every need. I prefer that recipes are pre-programmed instead of having to search randomly for experimental recipes in the other app.

### 5/5 — Extra !

*2025-11-19*

### 5/5 — Need update

*2025-07-07*

Perfect companion app but need some regular updates (no kentmere 200 and other). The UI is not fancy but I don’t care. Thank you for the great work!

### 5/5 — Très pratique

*2025-03-06*

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2024-12-21, version 4.5*

Great App, Used it for years

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2024-07-17, version 4.5*

I’ve been using this for a couple of years now. It’s incredibly useful. I’ve never found a film stock that wasn’t on the chart and the timers make getting film processing right really easy.

### 5/5 — I love this app!

*2024-04-21, version 4.5*

I’m a commercial photographer who is returning to film for the fun of it. This app takes all the pain and guesswork out of black and white negative development. Hats off and wallets open for the brilliant minds and hard work that made this app a reality!

### 5/5 — Best thing since sliced bread!

*2022-07-27, version 4.4*

A very comprehensive database of film/dev combos and has a great processing timer. If on iOS you can further tweak agitation schemes and other defaults in the settings area. All in all, it has been well worth whatever I paid several years ago. Yes, info can be had for free online but this still costs less than a roll of Double-X. A must-have if you like to try different film stocks and developers. I recently souped film for the first time in a few years and used three film/dev combos and was able to just go into MDV and use it again with zero futzing about - very intuitive. A must have!
