This app used to be useful but now I can’t use it, I guess I never should have updated it. ### 2/5 — Doesn’t show correct device *2026-06-10, version 3.3.5* Just received my vertical smoker 710. When the app found the device it shows it to be a gravity feed smoker which it is not. 🤷‍♀️ The app still turned off the smoker but you would think it would label the device correctly. I’ll see how the app works tomorrow when I smoke a chicken. Receive an email from developer. Said I should be using the is app which finds the wrong device. Before I heard from them I tried the other app that says is for gravity feed smokers but the app lets me pick the 710 model I have. ### 3/5 — Hi *2026-03-31, version 3.3.4* It connected really easy, but it thinks mine is a gravity series even though it’s a 710 ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2025-06-22, version 3.3.3* Great smoker but forget using the Bluetooth capabilities because it will not connect. It used to the first two times I used it but it will not work anymore. ### 2/5 — Improvements Needed *2025-06-17, version 3.3.3* Although the interface of the “remote” feature is useful, I constantly get a “Safe Mode” alert that blocks half of the screen. You can’t even get rid of it; it should at least have some kind of validation that would let it disappear, but no. The door of the smoker is not open, the smoker is not covered with anything, and I keep reconnecting my devices. Nothing changes, still the same alert, no matter what I do. So, in sum, it’s just a needlessly frustrating app. I also find that I have to reconnect constantly just to get it to work. Very annoying. ### 1/5 — If you wanna raise your blood pressure *2025-06-05, version 3.3.3* I have had the smoker for several years and have fought with it from the day my children gifted it to me. It’s the only reason I don’t throw it in the dump. Just when you think the thing may have all the bugs worked Nope!! . I haven’t used it in probably seven or eight months. Well today seems like now I have to login every time I go to use the app. Then it will not connect to Bluetooth. It’s the only way I can get it to work. The digital panel, which you can barely read unless you’re in the dark, never worked properly from day one. So the Bluetooth app when it decides to work, which is about 20% of the time would not work at all I’ve uninstalled reinstalled. cannot connect. The Wi-Fi is working. The Bluetooth is working. I spent 45 minutes in 102 trying to get this stupid thing to work and I am done! Customer Service is exactly like the app nonfunctional and pretty much worthless. Try getting a hold of a real person is basically not gonna happen! a I can only imagine why. Im sure they are tired of being fussed at. Well, today was the last time. It has now taken a ride to the local dump. Which is where it belongs. ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-05-31, version 3.3.3* I’m at the grocery store. If I want to see recipes to buy ingredients for tonight’s dinner, this app actually wants me to go home, stand next to my grill, connect to view the recipes, and THEN head back to the store. I’m actually considering returning my grill because this app is so useless. ### 2/5 — Smoker is fine app is useless *2025-05-26, version 3.3.3* I have the vertical smoker. When I connect it says I have a gravity feed completely wrong model. Removed app several times removed device several times. ### 1/5 — Read out died and now the Bluetooth died *2025-05-03, version 3.3.3* Wasn’t long after purchasing the digital display started burning out so I couldn’t see my temp. I used my Bluetooth to control but now the Bluetooth won’t connect rendering my smoker useless. I used to think Masterbuilt as a good reputable company but I won’t waste my money on another Masterbuilt product!!!!! ### 3/5 — Lost functionality *2025-04-29, version 3.3.3* Most recent app update has made it better but, it has lost the recipe function. If you go to the menu and select recipes it comes up with the recipe page and then if you try to scroll up to see the recipes or click on a recipe it exits the app and you see nothing. ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-03-30, version 3.3.3* App never works as intended and Iv decided to save myself the effort of trying. Don’t bother ### 1/5 — Just when you think you have seen it all…. *2025-03-25, version 3.3.3* Update. It gets even better, unless you’re a customer, then it continues to get worse. When all attempts to login to app failed I tried to log in to the web page which also wouldn’t let me login. In know my login information is correct because it is written in the instruction manual and I have been using it for years. So I had to set up a new account on the web page using the same email and password that I have been using for years. I can now login to the web site, the app is tango uniform. Masterbuilt Cracker Jack team of expert fishermen, aka master baiters, sets the bar at a new low. Starts with a new app, which now forces me to login to the app, which then refuses to accept my email and/or password, which then provides an invalid web address to reset my password. Not even close to the 2.1 star rating. ### 1/5 — Not built *2025-03-15, version 3.3.3* Electronics don’t work and the application works the same ### 1/5 — One of the worst apps you will ever use. *2025-02-09, version 3.3.3* Barely functional. Errors at every step. Login and authentication process barely works. You will never ever experience any sort of sustained functionality while using this app. You will be constantly restarting it, re installing it and re-pairing it to your device. Best case scenario is you get bluetooth to work for one entire smoke. ### 1/5 — Terribly Unreliable Connection *2025-01-05, version 3.3.3* Like so many others, I’ve finally given up on this app. It just won’t connect to the electric smoker I bought in 4 years ago. I’ve tried the troubleshooting links the app support team responds with, but either the app is useless or that feature is dead on the smoker. It’s probably time to upgrade to a nicer smoker since this one can’t seem to maintain temperature anyway. I set it at 275°, and it struggles to stay at 250°. ### 1/5 — Won’t take login *2024-12-28, version 3.3.3* I’ve created a login that works for Masterbuilt.com but won’t let me login to the app. Password meets all the requirements and I’ve tried resetting. How can it work for the website and not the app?!? ### 1/5 — Recipe Menu Crashes *2024-12-26, version 3.3.3* The app had tons of great recipes on it. I used many of them with my smoker. Now when I try to open the menu it crashes the app. ### 1/5 — Meh lost a customer for good… *2024-12-24, version 3.3.3* I loved this smoker when I bought it years ago. It worked great and meat came out awesome. The display went out about a year later but not a big issue because it had Bluetooth I just connected it to my phone and used it that way. The newest update pretty much bricked it after the first use. Like another review I had issues logging in and registering before I could even use the smoker. It doesn’t connect to the app properly now, it will not open the remote and prompts you to reconnect. While trying to reconnect it warns that trying to reconnect will disconnect the current smoker that is connected….. 🤷‍♂️. The replacement parts for the (display) control board are discontinued so I can’t even use it manually. App design is lacking and r&d seems to be behind the curve to what is out there… I just cant justify spending money on another smoker when the app design gets worse as it goes not better. Looking at the reviews they have not fixed any issues through bug fixes or anything. So….. buy a new smoker every few years with these guys or spend a little more and get a better built one that will last you and have support. No brainer for me. Fails to pair without being unplugged. Then in the middle of cooking unpairs and won’t reconnect. Can’t unplug cause I’m in the middle of cooking! Annoying but I could work around that. With the latest update I can’t even get the app to connect. Today is going to be my last attempt with this unit. It is absolutely horrible. It fills flunky and like a first grader made it. It does not connect with the device easily, it does not relay real time data. If you can actually get it to connect controls in the app do not work to set temperature, timers, alarms, power off the device… They need to hire a different developer. ### 1/5 — Just got it *2025-11-13, version 3.3.4* Not working very easily.
