Interesting design, because otherwise it’s just stream with such lags that it’s impossible to watch ### 2/5 — Horrible app *2026-08-03, version 11.100.0* Classes are good… app is horrible!! It’s slow to load, if it loads at all. It doesn’t remember what you’ve already seen in an episode, difficult to use UI. It’s painful to use. I think I’ll stick to the desktop, which isn’t great either tbh ### 2/5 — App has gone downhill *2026-07-12, version 11.100.0* The app no longer shows trailers to the classes. So, you can’t get an idea if you want to watch them or not. Masterclass is great infotainment. But, the app isn’t great and the website keeps trying to direct you to the app instead of letting you navigate the courses. I’ll be canceling my subscription if they don’t fix the app soon. ### 2/5 — Too many barriers to cancel *2026-07-06, version 11.99.0* To cancel or turn off automatic renewals, you must do it on a desktop. This has ended up costing me so much money for this app that I never use. I used it for a couple of things when it started, but couldn’t figure out how to cancel it. Some of this is my fault for forgetting when I was around my desktop. Why can’t they make it easy to cancel on the app? Customer support has been no help. I caught the renewal a little bit outside of the window available for a refund and now I have ended up paying for a year for an app I don’t use. ### 2/5 — Content aside the app is terrible *2026-07-02, version 11.99.0* Glitchy app and it quits on its own… sometimes doesn’t even open. Also it doesn’t let you delete things from your progress list ### 1/5 — Don’t do it *2026-06-30, version 11.99.0* I got charged and didn’t even approve of any charges. I just now asked for a refund $180 and they “can’t find me” in their system. I sent screenshots from my bank statement showing the charges. I gave them everything they need to find me and they still can’t find me. And they won’t give me a number for customer service… none listed on the website either… this is definitely a scam ### 2/5 — Great content, terrible user experience. *2026-06-28, version 11.99.0* Home and Library is basically the same page but designed differently. My Progress is frustrating as My List isn’t ordered in any meaningful way. Please give us filters to sort or search. Occasionally, videos autoplay out of the blue. Even with autoplay turned off. Lastly, the AI chat bot that pops up on EVERY page on desktop is just ridiculous. Stop with the unnecessary AI. Please. ### 1/5 — Horrible Tech Supoort *2026-06-27, version 11.99.0* There is a big issue in getting the add-on through ipad/iphone/ app/web/vpn/no vpn (UAE market). The team was NOT proactive in solving the issue. I spent three days troubleshooting on my own. All they do - is sending emails with sorry for your issue. Thats it!!! No tech help whatsoever. Terrible customer service/aftersales. ### 1/5 — Tech needs improvement, content is great *2026-06-24, version 11.99.0* Happy to fix my reviews with updates to the app. The content of MasterClass is really good, and the people that have found to interview has been really amazing. Although I will say that some of the initial people that they picked and had classes that were much more insightful than the recent ones. No dig at anybody’s credentials of the recent courses, but somehow it just feels that the amount of effort was put in coming up with extremely insightful knowledge on the recent courses as there was in the courses. And it is not the length of the course that determines that. As for the app, it’s quite disappointing to be honest. The branding is really good, really appreciate the UX and the colors and everything. The issue is with the billing process of it, it takes over 24 hours for changes to be shown. Somehow the tech in the backend is not integrated well enough. But today’s technology and AI coding available they should be super easy to solve. The most frustrating thing though is on the mobile phone app when we go into the audio only mode. Somehow, when you do that with Apple Music or Spotify. To switch between working on the phone or locking your phone and everything keeps playing. But that’s not the case with MasterClass app. It stops every chance it gets, it stops that every notification that comes through even though priority notifications. And then to get it back up and going, it’s also very slow. It also stops when the audio output device changes where is Apple Music on Spotify do not. So I believe that there is a way it could be set up to run better like those music players. ### 2/5 — App overheats phone *2026-06-24, version 11.99.0* The content is good but the app is useless. It’s the only app on my phone where when I open it, the phone instantly starts overheating and after using it for just a few minutes I have to kill the app and take the case off to cool it down. Both the front glass and back of the phone (even thru the case!) are physically hot to touch. Just to test this when the phone was normal cool temperature I closed all other apps, opened just the masterclass app, and sure enough within a few minutes it was quite hot to touch. I have a 15Pro. I haven’t pushed it to the limit to see if the phone will shut off because it’s physically uncomfortable to handle so I just close the app and therefore it’s useless for more than 5 minutes at a time. ### 1/5 — Don’t gift this to people *2026-06-15, version 11.99.0* I got a year subscription as a “gift.”Not much of a gift because it still wants your credit card and makes it set up to automatically renew. Normally that would be ok if you could pre-cancel and have access for the remainder of your year. But no, you can only cancel and lose your access immediately. It’s pretty clear their product actually sucks because why else would you need to be so shady to ensure people keep their subscription after a year? So please DO NOT GIVE THIS TO PEOPLE AS A GIFT ### 1/5 — Billing *2026-06-15, version 11.99.0* While they advertise their pricing as a monthly rate, you must pay for the entire year upfront. Not easy to cancel. ### 1/5 — The worst app ever *2026-06-01, version 11.99.0* I’m not sure how this app is rated so high. It loses previously downloaded classes. It fails to load things correctly 80% of the time, it is organized/designed poorly. The interface will fail to load properly half the time. It crashes mid video a lot. I pay a lot for a masterclass subscription and this is the app they produce/maintain. Atrocious!!!! ### 3/5 — Mediocre app *2026-05-30, version 11.99.0* The classes are good but the app is mediocre. For example, you can’t see a course overview or runtime once you’ve tagged or started it. You have to go to the website to see it. Help is also from AI for the most part, so it takes a lot of back and forth for correspondence to be understood. ### 2/5 — So so content, terrible app *2026-05-30, version 11.99.0* Content is average at best. They seem to truncate everything down and gloss over many topics, which leaves a lot of knowledge gaps and prevents the content from being as actionable as it should be. Almost seems like they the programs are just a preview or advertisement for the speaker’s book, separate course, etc. App meanwhile is terrible. Super glitchy, often doesn’t save my progress, hard to navigate, many programs are not categorized appropriately and when I am searching the library, a previous course that I started will just randomly start playing full blast. Play and pause buttons can’t even function on a consistent basis. I have subscriptions to numerous similar apps - MindValley, Coursera, Heroic, etc. All are far better. ### 1/5 — Additional fees for class resources *2026-05-27, version 11.99.0* Made the previously included class resources an additional fee. I pay for a membership but I can’t access the class resources unless I pay an additional fee. The resources used to be included in the regular membership. Greedy business. This is mostly for industry people and it’s more opinion based. I didn’t feel like I was learning a lot. I thought I canceled my renewal but it renewed anyway. I can’t get a refund even though I haven’t logged into the app since the first year. If I’m travelling or going somewhere with no data signal, I download courses to watch but can’t even get the app open. Furthermore, the courses downloaded will just un-download randomly. There is so much unnecessary friction built into the process. It’s easier to access a bank account than videos I’m entitled to due to my subscription payment. I will probably cancel my subscription simply due to how clunky the app is. I have to use a web browser to access my account right now. ### 1/5 — Issues with content and functionality *2026-08-11, version 11.100.0* I am disappointed in the quality of content on the app. The information in the classes is very surface level. Ive completed probably 10 classes don’t have a better understanding of the subject matter than I did before the class using just common sense and human experience. But probably more frustrating is the app functionality. It is the only app I have that overheats my phone, even on audio only mode. I regularly stream video from several other apps without a problem. The app also freezes often, has a significant navigation delay, and the screen display becomes distorted. There is no excuse for an app with such a high annual fee to have so many technical issues. I’ve been using it for months hoping these issues were just glitches that would resolve and they have not. ### 1/5 — Gift *2026-08-06, version 11.100.0* I received a membership as a gift December 25, 2025. I utilized it a little back then. I tried to sign in today and my only option was to pay for a new membership. You go through customer service via email, and it's a case of back and forth until finally being able to log in. I subscribed last year and did not recognize or remember an auto-renewal feature was active. This year the subscription renewed automatically and I tried to cancel within four hours of notification, but Masterclass was not willing to refund me citing their policy. Whereas I cannot argue against breaking the policy, I’ve been a repeat customer and referred others, so I expected a better customer experience. Suffice it to say, I’ll never use or refer this application again. UPDATE: the support team resolved the dispute. ### 5/5 — Annual price is way too much *2026-01-07, version 11.95.0* I have limited access to MasterClass through my Revolut account and I already know I would love to see more classes. Although with the lack of monthly membership option, the only way left is annual subscription which is too expensive to pay it in one.
