I was over the moon when my daughter sent me this game, BUT, almost immediately they wanted to charge to upgrade. I accidentally bypassed the instructions, but knowing how to play, I surged ahead. Once I used up hints, I was unable to get more help without paying. I will continue playing the game trying to see what I am doing wrong and why I can’t play against her, but if app is a money-grabber I am done. **Developer response:** Hi Mia2Many, Thank you for your rating! You can absolutely keep playing the app for free, there is no need to pay for the upgrade if you don't want to. The optional $4 one-time upgrade fee helps me develop the app further. ### 3/5 — Love the app, not the way it tells me I have picked a word that’s not on its list. *2022-10-29* I really, really like this app. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the way it tells me “not a real word” when I know it IS a real word. Makes me gnash my teeth every time. Why can’t it just say “Sorry, not on my list”? This happens multiple times during a session. GRRR! It took me 24 tries to figure out this word I’ve never heard in use? I like this game for the most part but not when I have to guess a word I’ve never heard before… ### 4/5 — Almost *2022-05-12* The one improvement I would recommend is the ability to guess words that have repeat letters. Example “sassy”. If the letter’s’ is correct, that would account for 3 by itself. Even if the final word is restricted to words without duplicate letters, clue words should not have that restriction. Harder than Wordle ### 4/5 — Great game. *2022-02-13* I was happy to find this Jotto game, I used to play it years ago with my best friend. We used pen and paper then. And I wish there was someway we could mark off the letters on our guesses that are incorrect and circle the ones that are correct, Like I used to.I know I can change the colors on the board. But it’s just faster if we were able to mark our guesses right or wrong. But I really am enjoying the game and if I could do that it would be five stars or more. Great game. You can do this by tapping on the letters in the top left part of the game screen. ### 5/5 — Wordle is for children Jotto is for real players *2022-02-12, version 2.4.1* Wordle gives you bullseye letters once you find one so you can move forward to a new guess using the found letters. With JOTTO the only advantage is that there are no limits to the guessed words. ### 5/5 — New improvements *2022-02-11* Thanks for allowing us to color the letters in the guesses and the keyboard. I really enjoy this game. VERY satisfying. ### 5/5 — Enjoy this app! *2022-02-03, version 2.4.1* My only quibble is that I thought there could not be repeating letters, but I see you can turn that off. An enjoyable logic puzzle that’s also a word game. I do a few rounds after my daily Wordle just for a bit of mind exercising in a different direction. Appreciate the suggestion from another reviewer about using QUILT as an elimination word. I will often use FUZZY and CHUCK for this. Eager to try QUILT as well. This is probably too much of a stretch, but I often think of the Bletchley Park codebreakers when I work this. I would like a refund it’s just not worth the money ### 1/5 — VERY CONFUSING *2022-02-28, version 2.4.1* Don’t bother ### 1/5 — “Yellow for Maybe” Feature Disappeared After Update *2022-02-12* I reduced my rating to 1 star because my most recent word was “Waxing” which is a 6-letter word. The only way I found out that was the word was by using the Hint button because, since the words are only supposed to have 5 letters, I wasn’t even able to key in the correct word. I could only enter “waxin” which, of course, is “NOT A REAL WORD.” ########## EARLIER REVIEW: I’ve been enjoying this game but already had 3 wishes for improvements: - Wanted a different color to designate double-used letters in harder levels; - Wanted no double-used letters in the lowest level, which isn’t supposed to have any; and - Wanted more words to solve for. However, since the latest update, not only is there no special color for double letters, now we no longer have the yellow designation to indicate possible letters. This is a step backward, so I’m giving a lower rating than I would have before the update. [lYellow for maybe” was reinstated, so I added a star.] The update that was supposed to filter out double letters where they don’t belong did not work. I’ve come across 2 or 3 with double letters in the Easy section, and just now my word turned out to be “MOMMY.” Please remove words with double letters from the Easy list, consider adding an additional color, or some other indicator to designate a double-used letter. **Developer response:** Hello! I enjoyed the challenge presented by even the easy level in the previous version, but with the latest update I’m solving all the puzzles way too fast. I wish it had a way to clear the alphabet grid when it is obvious you have isolated wrong letters. The dictionary seems lacking a bit. I have played so much, I’m going thru the words all over again. It seems like the developer is not listening. Nice graphics on this and huge potential as it works just like the paper version. But words start repeating very quickly and one soon has the word bank memorized. It seems the settings have improved since I last reviewed it. Now you can pick your difficulty level. The starting difficulty is easy, which is just normal 5 letter words. Today, i got “camel”. ### 5/5 — Should be able to save incomplete games *2022-06-13* Even back in the pre-Internet days when jotto was simply a game you played with pencil and paper it was always the best game for highly intelligent people. The only thing I would add for this version is the ability to save a game that is not complete for a later play. Otherwise it's terrific! ### 5/5 — Excellent game *2022-03-15* This is like a better form of Wordle for me (it’s like Worlde but if you only got yellow blocks). It’s a game I can spend hours playing, it is simple and perfect, and it’s a clever concept so you can refine your strategies. It’s a good skill but not impossible - like a perfect balance.
